Pontos sat contentedly in the little home he had made for himself in his little corner of the Long Island Sound, his home had no where near the splendor and glory that the undersea Palaces of Poseidon and Oceanus processed, nor indeed did it come anywhere near the magnificence his own Palace once held when he alone ruled the waves. Now he was old, damned old, he quite literally remembered when water was a new invention, because he invented it. Of course not many remembered him any more, why should they, it's not like he'd really done much since the Titans and later the Gods came in and took over. For a time he had been satisfied he had played his part, done all that had been needed of him, and was just ready to fade away. But then he would get that restless feeling that he just wasn't done yet, finding a few more decades of life within him.
These days he held a position of trust, and a a permanent abode, which was something he hadn't had in millenia. He gazed around at his little patch of sea with a content air about him. It was probably the cleanest most well plot of water in the Long Island Sound, well kept beds of kelp and seaweed, a small herd of hippocampi floating and grazing contently a few sharks and other creatures nosing around looking for treats. He smiled fondly as he stroked a shark's dorsal fine and tossed it some bloody goodies. It was good to feel needed again.
With a sigh he used his staff, shaped like an ancient trireme oar, to help himself up from his easy chair made of seaweed. He slowly churned his way up towards the surface, stopping suddenly as his something invaded his happy little paradise.
"Monroe," Pontos groaned, his mood having evaporated with the coming of Oceanus' surfer boy son, who liked nothing better than to disturb the peace of Pontos' domain. He didn't have much left in this world, but what he did have was *his*. As his temper grew Pontos' form shifted and blended with the sea around him until he was the sea, and the sea was him.
Pontos roared up into the surface as a massive wave, his form rebuilding itself from the water and foam of the no violent sea. Sure enough there was Jesse Monroe, son of Oceanus, trying to surf off of Pontos' face...again.
"MONROE!!!" Pontos bellowed causing the seas to churn and toss even more violently. With one massive watery hand Pontos grabbed a hold of demititan boy and carried him to the beach, Pontos' form shifting from the very personification of the sea to a very tall, very broad, very strong, very angry old man holding his trireme Oar in one hand, and the struggling boy by the scruff of the neck in the other.
"That is it Monroe! I have told you time after time. Do not attempt to surf here while I am in MY DOMAIN! You upset my fish, to tempt my sharks, and stampede my hippocampi, not to mention what *they* do to my gardens. You're lucky I don't take my Oar to you boy." Pontos glowered at the struggling boy, then lifted him up and dropped him on his bony little ass.
"Not a word. You have two weeks detention working in the gardens with the Demeter Children. If you so much as look at the lake or my Domain, I may forget that I am a kind and benevolent god, and tare a stripe off of you with my Oar. Now, go get ready for the welcoming ceremony, and you had better be the very essence of good behavior, or you'll be in detention so long you'll have forgotten there ever was a sea to surf on. Now off with you," Pontos made a shuing motion with his Oar , just to make sure things sunk in with the Kelpbrained child. Pontos shook his head wearily, muttering, "And that is why I stopped having children, well that and the fact that that last batch turned out to be Telkhines, who were as dumb as a bag of empty seashells,"
He strode quietly forward now dressed in an elegant, a silk shirt and paisley cravat, he didn't much care for the clothes, he had always preferred the billowing robes and togas of old, so much more comfortable, but Lord Zeus had insisted that they did not look professional, so a suit it was. He quirked a small smile as a long black academic robe appeared over his suit, along with mortarboard and tassel. Try and tell me *this* doesn't look professional for an Academy Headmaster, Pontos thought wryly as he made his way to the dais in the Great Hall.
Unlike the old days, no one really paid attention that the Academy's Headmaster, and Ancient Sea God, had just entered the room, which saddened him a bit; he was more annoyed that once again the stupid satyrs had put the wrong chair in his place. All of the Staff chairs were various forms of thrones, as most were gods, titans or demigods who had returned to share their wisdom. In Pontos' place, instead of his throne, was a simple battered kitchen stool, that looked like it stood up only out of habit. Pontos glared at it for a moment, then tapped it with the butt of his Oar, and with the sound of a crashing wave the stool transformed into a massive blue-green marble throne, whose back fanned out in the shape of a scallop, as figures of various fish and sea creatures formed the arms and legs. Once it finished transforming the hall burst out in applause as Pontos took a little bow and seated himself regally.
He mounted his Oar to the right arm rest of his throne then addressed the hall in his most powerful and regal voice,
"Welcome, welcome one and all to the Half-Blood Academy. I am Professor Pontos, Headmaster of this Academy. The time has come to start another term here at the Academy, and I do hope you are up for the challenge. This terms teaching staff have a great many things planned for each and everyone of you.
"Now, you all have been claimed by your immortal parents and will be assigned living quarters accordingly. All students under the age of 13 will be housed together, again by parentage. The Heads of House and Residence Leaders will ensure you find you new home while you stay here at the Academy.
"The Staff have asked me to remind all of you that there is to be no fighting between demigods, demititan, and half-monsters except for in the designated areas, please do try not to kill each other even then, it just result in a lot of paper work to your parents, to the gods...it's just something I'd really rather avoid.
"As you no doubt noticed as you arrived, the grounds are surrounded not only by a magical barrier to keep mortals out and beasts in, but there is a very large very full forest which surrounds us as well. We as that you stay out of the forest, and out of the Sound, except for at designated times, again its one of those, let's avoid unnecessary deaths things.
"You will meet the staff, if you haven't already, when you arrive for classes tomorrow morning. Starting in the morning you will be expected to take your meals in the Dinning Pavilion at your assigned tables. Once again one of those let's not get dead things. If there are no further announcements," Looks around at the staff members on the dais then exclaims, "Let's eat,"

It was strange, not having a regular home to go back to. The thought that Michael and Diane were gone, chilled Nicky to the bone. His twin sister, who essentially had been separated from him at birth, had offered for him to come stay with their Aunt and family, who had been Andee's foster family, but Nicky just couldn't bring himself to do it. The may be blood, but they weren't family. He had mentioned t the situation to Chiron at the end of summer, and while the wise old centaur was inclined to offer for Nicky to stay at the camp, he knew resources were stretched thin as it was, so he offered Nicky a booklet on the Half-Blood Academy. It looked nice enough, excellent grounds, massive buildings, all very similar in fashion and design to Camp, but the thought of a boarding school for half-bloods...it just seemed weird, what was this Harry Potter or something?
Nicky walked up the the Academy gates, which when covered by the mist looked like an old abandoned factory, with a big sign reading "CONDEMNED" across the gate, it was enough to keep the nosy mortals away. Take away the mist and it was the size of a small Greek city-state, with a massive forest of trees surrounding the borders. A couple of hellhounds stood sentry near the gate, sniffing and barking at those who got too close.
"I suppose that's better than having dragons just waiting to bite your head off..." Nicky mutter as he made his way down the immaculate walk way a massive Greek style building with polished white marble pillars bigger around than half a dozen Nicky's stacked on top of each other, and sparkling celestial bronze doors, easily 100 feet high. Everything about the building just exuded power and prestige due to the gods. From the word around camp there were actual gods that lived and worked here when they weren't doing their godly duties on Olympus.
As he walked through the doors a old goat of a satyr croaked out,
"Ah yes, Wolf, Cyrus Nicolai, son of Apollo. Check,"
Nicky gave the old goat a glare that could have peeled paint if he focused it enough. "The name is Nicky Wolf, and yes I am a son of Apollo, not that it's any of your business,"
"Yes, yes, very nice, please move along, we have to check everyone in before Lord Pontos begins the ceremony...NEXT PLEASE,"
Nicky flipped him the finger and he made his way to a table near the back, keeping his back close, since it contained all of his worldly possessions he had left. He closed his eyes for a moment, just letting the vibe of the room fill his senses, even though he didn't see it, he could feel when his private little kingdom at this table had been invaded. His eyes snapped open, hand straying to his concealed short sword, but easing as he recognized some of the faces joining him.
"Hey, Lee, Orion, Noah...Maxi. I see you guys got dragged here as well. I suppose it's better than going into foster care or something..." Nicky muttered, feeling really strangely depressed.
"Daddy D sent me here, cuz even though I'm his favorite little bastard, he didn't think the camp could handle any more of Eggbert's fun times. Hehehehe the goatie-mans still get the poo poo scared out of Eggbert every time the see him..." the little maniac Maxi babbled on chattering about everything, including his newly minted tinfoil hat. Nicky just smiled politely and sat quietly.
"Mind if I sit here mate? Of course you don't," came a heavily accented Australian voice paired up with a lean, lithe surfer's body, with a face and shock of golden blonde hair that looked so much like Nicky's late brother...and crush...that it sent little pains stabbing through his heart to look at him. "The name's Jesse, Jesse Monroe, son of Oceanus. This is what my fourth year here at the Academy? Don't worry it's all a bit overwhelming at first, but you'll get used to it soon enough. From what I get from the other camp blokes, it's really not that different," Jesse shrugged his shoulders with a beaming smile etched from ear to ear. Nicky's throat constricted so much he couldn't have responded if he had wanted to. He just smiled and nodded, trying to separate himself from the conversation and this phantom, he was no where near capable of dealing with.
"You know mate, it's usually good manners to introduce yourself," Jesse's voice teased, so similar, yet so different...Nicky cleared his throat trying to force the ghosts of his memories back to their place locked in the pit of his heart.
"Nicky, Nicky Wolf, son of Apollo," Nicky managed to answer, his voice raw with the emotions he was fighting so hard.
Nothing could have prepared Nicky for this, but Jesse threw a friendly arm around his shoulder hugging him tight, speaking softly in his ear,
"It's ok mate, it's always rough for the first few weeks, but if you ever need someone to help you learn the ropes I'm hear for you," Nicky flushed furiously intoxicated by Jesse's curious scent, which was some strange combination of a salty sea breeze, and a cool fresh breeze that Nicky remembered rolling off the lakes he and Michael used to visit when he was little. It was curiously comforting, yet deeply unsettling at the same time, fortunate for Nicky he didn't have much time to dwell on it as the sound of crashing waves filled the hall, and all the students broke out in applause.
"Welcome, welcome one and all to the Half-Blood Academy. I am Professor Pontos, Headmaster of this Academy. The time has come to start another term here at the Academy, and I do hope you are up for the challenge. This terms teaching staff have a great many things planned for each and everyone of you.

Nicky stared wide eyed at the regal, ancient sea god...it just blew his mind to think he was the very first sea god, born of Gaia herself.
"He's just putting on a show for you newbies mate, he's really an old softy, and rubbish at shuffle board," Jesse commented off handedly before shoveling a fork full of oysters in his mouth. Nicky realize he hadn't ordered anything, and was getting hungry, he hadn't eaten since dinner at camp last night. He looked around for a waiter or something, finding no one he was about to ask Jesse how to get some food, when he noticed a plate with a giant omelet stuffed with everything in it, sitting right in front of him. Nicky dug in with a passion thinking in the back of his mind. "This might not be half bad after all,"

Corbin heard people talking from a table behind him. He quickly stood up and turned around examining the people. One was a hunky blond boy who Corbin had seen before. However there was a group of people who were new. He took a step towards them. He examined them once again. He wasn't sure about a few of them."Hello people I don't know. I see some of you are new to the Academy. And while you," points to Jesse,"I've seen before. Well, anyway without further ado, I will introduce myself. I am Corbin Cruz, Son of Aphrodite." He said smiling and taking a small bow. He noticed a small spot next to Nicky and sat down. He looked in front of him to see and empty plate. He looked back up at the other people waiting for a response. He looked back at the plate and it had a salad on it. The salad seamed to contain lettuce, tomatoes, and an italian dressing.
He began to eat it slowly. Instead of wearing pink he was now wearing black skinny jeans, a dark gray v-neck, black-n-white low top converse, and a black leather jacket. His dark brown hair and tanned skin looked handsome. He ran his hand threw his hair after finising the salad. "Now, just to see who my fresh meat are, I'll just have to do this," he tapped his lips three times with the tip of his finger waiting for someone to move. Would, anybody be here. What he had just done was a special power he could do which would make any gay boy aound him who saw him do that fall in love. He would make sure it would be only a temporary affect so he wouldn't have several boys chasing ater him for the rest of the term.

Nicky was really chowing down, feeling like he hadn't eaten in weeks. He was lost in his minute buffet of heaven, completely oblivious to the others at the table. Sometimes and omelet is just what the doctor ordered. He only looked up a couple of times to grab his mug of milk to wash everything down. Nicky was only vaguely aware of someone taking the spot next to him, he just kept shoveling in omelet and tater-tots, until he caught a whiff of a cologne the set his senses of fire. He couldn't quite pin point the scent, but it was terribly familiar.
He looked up, fork holding a speared tater-tot hovering halfway between the plate and Nicky's mouth. Jer? No, he was dead and gone. Griff? No, he was in Manhattan with his family. Felix? No, he was away with his uncle for the school year. He looked around trying to figure out where the scent was coming from, his eyes drifting over Jesse, no it wasn't him, he scanned around the table, seeing Maxi using his napkin to make a fortune telling turban, Lee was busy chatting secretively with Nicky's brother Keller, Noah was there, looking as detached and cold as ever. Then there was this new boy, sitting next to him, sure he was attractive enough, but not something that would distract Nicky from such a good meal like this. He stared blatantly trying to figure out why he was drawn to the boy, and why in the names of the gods would he smell like some strange combination of Jer, Griff and Felix...
It hit him light one of Zeus' Thunderbolts, LOVE MAGIC! He threw down his fork clattering loud enough to stop the conversation at the table, and make everyone look at Nicky with questioning eyes. His own taking on the likeness of a hurricane. His normally sunny features clouded over with barely contained rage. He whirled on the boy staring him dead in the eye, his voice never creeping about a cold growling whisper.
"How dare you use love magic like that?!" the venom dripping from his melodic voice as he stood abruptly and left the hall without a second glance. He marched silently and full of determination, not stopping until he reached his new home in the Apollo Residence. He stopped only to lock the door so that only other Apollo's and their guests could enter.
He tossed his back on the comfortable twin bed and sat down stiffly at the piano, his fingers dancing across the keys, releasing rich, mournful cords filling the empty residence with their tearful sounds. It was a requiem he had composed after he returned from Olympus, a suggestion his father had made, to help Nicky deal with his grief, and emotional turmoil. As the last notes died out, he sat back closing his eyes and breathing deep.
"I'm sorry dad, I thought I was handling it better than this. Maybe I was just leaning on Felix and Griff like crutches to keep me from having to face my guilt. What was it Michael used to say when I got made fun of in school over my name? I Had to get tough or die...or something like that. Well dad, I will. I will get tough, and I will heal." He started to play again, his eyes still closed, just letting the muse take him. It wasn't long before the room was filled with a magical glow of peaceful uplifting music, just flowing out of the piano, a few of the storm clouds in Nicky's face drifted away letting the light back through.
"I should apologize to that Aphrodite kid...No he was in the wrong," Nicky thought, his music taking on a slightly darker tone. "I know what I should do, I should send Felix and Iris Message, let him know I made it here alright, and to check and see how things are going for him, that would be a nice surprise," The tone and melody brightened up, picking up the pace as Nicky thought back to good times he had spent with Felix at camp. From their impromptu quest to Olympus, through the remainder of the Summer, they had become extremely close, probably not as close as Felix had wanted, but Nicky hoped to fix that the next time he saw him. Oh yes it would be a very happy reunion indeed.

It was that time of year again. A new term was starting and the welcoming ceremony was already starting. Mike was in his room still getting ready, he wanted to make a good first impression. To him that was vital when meeting people. He was hoping to run into a few familiar faces when he got there. His bracelet was on and he put his notebook down by his bed. It would of been odd for him to bring it with him. Usually he is writing away in it keeping a record of the day. All of the preparations were made so he left his room and headed for the great hall.
He made his way to the check in where a satyr was with a list. He looked at Mike and sneered "Well aren't we running late? Michael Livie son of Mnemosyne. A memory like yours should know when to be here. NEXT." He rolled his eyes. "My mom's Titaness of memory not punctuality." He didn't care for his response so he preceded into building. He got in just in time to see Pontos transform his stool into a throne. He clapped along with the crowd. It was a nice trick. He stood in the back of the room as he listened to Pontos's announcements. They were the usually common sense to avoid death rules. Pontos brought up meeting the staff the next day, Mike really hoped that they got a new archery teacher. The last knew his aim was so bad and wouldn't trust him with a simple bow and arrow. No one could blame him if he was a marksman or he accidentally missed a target completely and shot a student. It happens.
This was supposed to be the part where they mingle, but he wasn't sure to just go plop down on a random seat. He saw a A few people he recognized. There was Jesse the only demititan he noticed so far. He started to approach the table, but then there was an outburst. He had never seen the boy, but he did have traits of either Apollo but there was possible he was a new Hyperion child. Now wasn't a time to ask, there wasn't a chance either because he marched out the hall. He looked in his direction then the table. "Might as well"
He made his way over to the table and sat. Some of the faces were familiar as he glanced around the table. Of course he never forgot a face. He wasn't sure what to say so he just filled his plate first and started to eat. The plate had some crab cakes on it with seasoned potatoes. After a few sips he decided to actually say something. "Hello, I'm Michael. Just call me Mike. I'm son of Mnemosyne." He didn't like saying his last name because most people thing of his actor dad. He dad maybe famous, but it wasn't something he liked people to know. No real logic to it just personal preference. After another sip of sprite he looked over to Jesse. "So how has the year been? Just surfing as always?" He started to look at some of his memories, but stopped himself. Some teacher had scolded him on how much that was an invasion of privacy.

It was always good to get back in the water, to ride the waves, feel the ebb and flow of the tides, the very pulse of the sea. Technically, the sea was the soul domain of Jesse Monroe's brother-in-law Poseidon, not that his half-sister Amphitrite really cared if Jesse even existed. Even 13 years later there were still bitter feelings between his sister and father over the last Titan War. Jesse was too young to remember much about it, but he had talked to one of his father's lieutenants the last time he paid a visit to the Palace. He had been told that the normally congenial and loving relationship had been strained to the breaking point when Amphitrite sided with her husband rather than her father in the War. None of that really mattered to Jesse much, he was cool with her, just as long as she didn't try to convince Poseidon to skewer Jesse on his Trident, or try to block him from the waves.
To complicate things still further, this itty bitty little stretch of Sea didn't belong to either Poseidon or Oceanus, but to an even older, and some might say more temperamental, Sea-god, who just happened to be the Headmaster of the Half-Blood Academy. Jesse grinned impishly as he floated in the water. Pontos didn't usually have a problem with Jesse being in his waters, just as long as he didn't stir things up too much, he really was a crotchety old sea-god, had his seaweed and kelp beds all manicured just they way he liked them and got all bend out of shape if anyone messed them up. It always reminded Jesse of some cranky old pensioner who had nothing better to do than take care of his lawn. Always running out of the house waving his walking stick bellowing, "Damn kids get off my lawn." of course Pontos did wave a walking stick around, he wielded a massive trireme oar, which could do some serious damage if someone was on the receiving end of it.
His impish smile continued to grow as he deftly played with the bracelet on his left wrist. "What could it hurt to stir up a few decent breakers, and get a little surfing in before the old man does he's 'Welcome to the School blah blah blah' bit?" Jesse thought suddenly determined. He stood up touched one side of his bracelet, and it transformed into a harpoon shaped spear. Looking around slyly, smirking a little, he used his harpoon-spear like a drum major's baton, agitating the waters all around him, building momentum until fair sized waves started rolling in. With a quick flick of the wrist he made the harpoon-spear transform into a killer surf board.
Jesse lay on top of it, paddling out, waiting for just the right moment, then jumping to his feet and riding the wave for all it was worth. He laughed happily as the wave deposited him in the shallows, and more kept rolling in. With a quick glance around he paddled back out to catch the next one in. As he jumped to his feet on his board the seas suddenly weren't under his control, and he wasn't exactly riding a wave, per say, more like a wave shaped as a giant, unhappy face.
"sh*t, I woke him up," Jesse thought as he fought to keep his balance. "MONROE!!!" Pontos' ear splitting bellow came smashing through the violent seas as the wave-face shifted and changed into a massive body made of churning sea water. A giant watery hand reached out and grabbed Jesse by the scruff of the neck carrying him to shore. Jesse struggled to break free, he didn't much care for being man handled, much less god-handled.
"That is it Monroe! I have told you time after time. Do not attempt to surf here while I am in MY DOMAIN! You upset my fish, to tempt my sharks, and stampede my hippocampi, not to mention what *they* do to my gardens. You're lucky I don't take my Oar to you boy." Pontos glowered at Jesse for a moment before dropping him right on his ass in the sand, knocking the wind out of him for a few moments.
Now off with you," Pontos swatted at Jesse with his Oar, making Jesse trot away even faster. Jesse grinned from ear to ear, "Totally worth it," his hand strayed down to his wrist, and sure enough the surf board had transformed back into his bracelet, that was the handy thing about magical gifts, more often than not, they always came back to you.
He loped back to the Oceanus Residence, grabbed a towel and dried off as he searched out a shirt to wear. He found one of his comfortable button up hula shirts, threw it on without bothering to change out of his board shorts, buttoning up the shirt, or finding a pair of shoes for that matter. Humming and smiling happily he found his way to the Great Hall where an old Satyr was taking attendence. "Monroe, Jesse James, Son of Oceanus. Check. Wait wait wait, you do know there's a dress code here--" "Is that an Apple Tree Nymph over there, she looks tastey," he dodged around the Satyr as he looked in the other direction, and found his way to a random table with people at it.
"Mind if I sit here mate? Of course you don't," He asked a new cute young blonde boy sitting quiet at a table by himself, "The name's Jesse, Jesse Monroe, son of Oceanus. This is what my fourth year here at the Academy? Don't worry it's all a bit overwhelming at first, but you'll get used to it soon enough. From what I get from the other camp blokes, it's really not that different," Jesse shrugged his shoulders with a beaming smile etched from ear to ear. The boy looked a little flustered and contented himself with just smiling and nodding.
"You know mate, it's usually good manners to introduce yourself," Jesse's voice teased trying to get the boy to open up some.
"Nicky, Nicky Wolf, son of Apollo," his voice raw and emotional, breaking Jesse's heart to hear it. Jesse couldn't he but throw a friendly arm around his shoulder hugging him tight, speaking softly in his ear,
"It's ok mate, it's always rough for the first few weeks, but if you ever need someone to help you learn the ropes I'm hear for you," the boy flushed furiously, making Jesse smile a bit, before being distracted by Pontos' little circus act and pontificating up on the Dais.
"He's just putting on a show for you newbies mate, he's really an old softy, and rubbish at shuffle board," Jesse muttered as he dug into his plate of muscles and oysters, getting a bit distracted by a cute Aphrodite, he was cute enough, maybe Jesse'd look him later for a little fun. Things got a bit confusing when that Nicky boy abruptly stood up, and muttered something to Corbin, the Aphrodite boy, and marched out of the hall leaving his meal unfinished.
"Waste not, want not," Jesse murmured grabbing Nicky's plate polishing off the remains. "Hello, I'm Michael. Just call me Mike. I'm son of Mnemosyne." Jesse looked up as Mike introduced himself to the others, before looking to Jesse, "So how has the year been? Just surfing as always?"
"You know it Mate, you haven't lived until you've surfed off Pontos' face," Jesse grinned taking a deep draft of cool clear water. "What about you mate? Still living the Hollywood life?"

Another term. Another term. Another term... Those words marched endlessly through Persephone's head like a mantra. It was rather annoying but she needed something to distract herself from thinking about her mother's various Iris messages. People often said that Demeter was the clingy sort, they were really lucky to not know how true that statement really was. She could leave her quarters for an hour and come back to close to a thousand messages from her mother. Persephone was just waiting for Iris to pay her a visit and tell her that both she and Demeter were not welcomed on the rainbow messaging system anymore. Not as if that's a major loss...the connection goes wahoonie shaped every time you try to contact someone at Crice's spa. Good luck trying to get news on certain hamsters with all that static going on...
"Careful...if you twist one of his petals off you might be taking off an arm."
The voice was all honey and silk, jerking Persephone right out of her thoughts. Immediately her gaze snapped to the left, taking in the speaker as he pulled out a chair and dropped gracefully into it. "Than.." She greeted, once she was finished rolling her eyes at him. "For once can you please speak like a normal person instead of a perverted caller?" The question was a rhetorical one but it didn't stop him from leaning into her and asking in that same tone if she'd like to guess what hot and heavy thing he had in his hand.
"A baked potato!" Her elbow came up, jabbing him hard in the ribs. It didn't have the desired effect though. He didn't double over or fall off his chair but when he laughed at least it wasn't some sort of odd cackle. Than liked to keep up appearances and since he was Thanatos the reaper...appearances tended towards the creepy. Persephone didn't want creepy so early in the school year.
"It's more useful then a baked potato, sweetheart." His dark eyes gleamed as he looked at her and for a moment they were a solid black, without pupils or irises or whites. His form shimmered and Persephone had to jab him with her elbow again. "Not in front of the kiddies!" Thanatos in his real god form would probably result in a lot of dead students. She scowled at him as he voiced another laugh and watched as he reached forward pulling her right hand away from the potted daisy she had been playing with.
"Bad enough you had to turn him into a flower. You don't have to maim him too."
In response Persephone stuck her nose in the air and pulled her hand away from his grip. "I don't like walking into my quarters and finding it filled with reindeer sh*t." She hissed out, feeling more annoyed then ever when she saw the laughter in his eyes. "He's lucky I'm an animal lover and I won't kill the reindeer and make him eat it." Lewis Walker had been getting on her nerves for a while now, Persephone knew exactly why he was pulling all these pranks on her but knowing the reasons didn't make her any less pissed off with him. So to teach him a lesson, she had turned him into a daisy. He had been in flower form for about a week and since she hadn't heard anything from Dionysus, she might just keep him as a flower for another three.
It looked as if Thanatos was going to say more on the subject but the Headmaster made his appearance right about then and they had to set aside their banter. Persephone had been wondering why the satyrs had sat a stool on her right where the Headmaster's chair should have been. But it really wouldn't be surprising if those goat brains were so nervous that they messed things up. She clapped along with the rest of the hall though when Pontos changed the stool into something more elaborate and throne like. Persephone's own chair was a simple affair. She had her own throne in the Underworld..and that was another thing she didn't want to think about either.
Persephone turned her attention to the students as Pontos made his welcoming speech. Looking into their young faces she wondered what kind of mischief some of them would get up to this year. And which ones would be collected by Than while he was on his official duties as God of Death. Willing her goblet to fill up with pomegranate juice, Persephone sat back in her chair and continued to study the various students. She didn't need to eat and what she felt next made her appetite get thrown out the window. Love was not within her sphere of influence but she was a goddess and could feel magic when it was being used. Than must have felt it too because he started to chuckle all over again.
"Shut it." Persephone said, pushing her chair back so that it scraped against the floor. "Last time you were so happy a bunch of mortals dropped an atomic bomb on another bunch of mortals. Do you know what that means Than? That's overtime." Snatching up the pot that was currently the home of Lewis the Daisy she turned to the Headmaster. "Please excuse me." Persephone's tone was more respectful when she addressed Pontos but anyone could see that what had just happened had pushed her past boiling point. Hadn't the Headmaster just announced the rules to the entire hall?! "I have to smack a detention on someone..I think this breaks the old record." Turning on her heel she made a beeline for the offending student's table.
Persephone's heels made a very distinct and determined click click as she made her way across the hall. As she walked she summoned up the school's official detentions clipboard into her right hand. "Mr Cruz." She came to a stop next to the son of Aphrodite. "Might I remind you that it is against the rules to use your powers on another student unless it's at the arena or in a sparring match. You are to report to me after your classes tomorrow as I'm sure working with fertilizer for the next month will help jog your memory on what our school rules are here. " There was a smack as she placed the detention slip in front of him on the table. The slip of paper was still wet with magical ink but it had his name, his offense and his punishment all written down in Persephone's neat handwriting. "And I'd like to add that using love magic to find a suitable boyfriend is, how do you put it...pathetic. At least Aphrodite put some effort into attracting her suitors." Didn't she know it..she got unwanted Iris messages for the goddess of Love too. With that she was off again, walking further down the table to Noah.
"Hello dear." Placing Lewis the Daisy in front of him, Persephone flashed her step son a smile that didn't reach her eyes at all. "Since you and Lewis are such good friends, I'm sure you'll have no problems babysitting him for me." She glanced at the detention's clip board, making sure that she had a copy of Corbin's detention slip before making it vanish. Now that she had her hands free, she rested them both on Noah's shoulders.

How was it that that woman was still managing to make life a living hell for Noah even after she kicked him out on the street 4 years ago? Angelica Setson was that damnedable bad penny that always came back. It was almost as if the fates had picked her out specifically to torment Noah to the very brink of a psychotic melt down, using all the powers of shadow and darkness he had inherited from his father to utterly destroy everything he touched. Fortunately, he had learned how to control those same powers in spite of that her.
This time it wasn't some letter left on his bunk by some unseen servant, no he had been on the streets of Manhattan, of all places, when she found him in person. It had taken ever ounce of his will power not to create a yawning chasm at the very base of Olympus itself, to swallow her up and lock her in the deepest darkest pits of Tartarus. Fortunately, he hadn't had to deal with her long before the police saw her berating Noah on the public street, and arrested her for being drunk and disorderly in public. Before they could ask too many questions Noah had been able to shadow travel away, ending up about a mile or two from Half-Blood Academy. Giving him enough time to reflect upon his situation.
Just before the end of Summer, Chiron had approached Noah about the Academy, know full well his situation, Noah had been a year round camper for the past four years. Chiron had offered to allow him to stay at the Camp, but also highly recommended the Academy to broaden his education and training. At first, Noah had been inclined to turn down the offer, since his boyfriend Xander would likely be staying year round as well. But then word came that the Days, his foster family, were wanting to patch things up with Xander, trying to make amends for years of perceived mistreatment. It was hard to believe, bit Noah had actually encouraged him to go, to try and make things right. "A moment of weakness," Noah thought as he trudged along the road.
It was that moment of "weakness" that sent him down this road in the first place, well more the mood he went into after Xander left. He had gotten so cold and bitter that it was as though he were sucking the very life out of the air around him, and finally his older sister Joelle had had enough and basically ordered him to leave camp and go to the Academy. He hadn't put up much of a struggle since she would be joining him there as well, but his dark mood wasn't going anywhere. To make matters even more irritating for him, his...well for lack of better term, f*ck buddy, Lewis Walker, had gone missing after paying one of his usual visits to Hades' Palace in the Underworld. Either Hades had decided to keep him around while Persephone was gone, or gods knew what else could have happened to that crazy f*ck.
Noah glowered at the gates as he walked through, the guardian hellhounds nuzzling him affectionately as he past, not even that could crack his stony visage. He stomped through the Administration Building, the air around him so cold the students and satyrs did everything they could to get out of his way. He stopped before the satyr taking attendance, using all of his restraint not to will the goat to burst into black flames to burn in torment for eternity.
"Setson, Noah Andreas, Son of Hades. Check--"
"My name is Noah, Son of Hades. Nothing more. Those other names are dead to me." Noah answered not bothering to raise his eyes above the satyr's middrift.
"well then it's a good thing your father is Lord of the Dead, because that's the name I have on the sheet here, and that's the name we are going with--BAHHHH" The satyr about jumped out of his skin as small black flames appeared on the sheet eliminating "Setson" and "Andreas".
"I believe you'll find that the sheet has been corrected," Noah brushed past the satyr annoyed with this game, sending a small spark of black flames to singe the annoyance's fur.
He walked over and sat down at a table that held a few familiar faces, sitting down with out a word and no desire for food or company. He silently sat staring at the dais waiting for the blowhard headmaster to finish his speech, getting even more annoyed when he recognized his step-mother on the dais as well. His mood only slightly broken when he felt a strange tug at his senses, it wasn't something he was used to so he couldn't quite place the feeling.
He looked around the table slowly, seeing a relatively cute boy also sitting there, but before he had a chance to sort out his thoughts on the matter, Nicky, a son of Apollo stood up, chewed him out and stormed off. Leaving Noah somewhat puzzled as to what just happened.
"Mr Cruz. Might I remind you that it is against the rules to use your powers on another student unless it's at the arena or in a sparring match. You are to report to me after your classes tomorrow as I'm sure working with fertilizer for the next month will help jog your memory on what our school rules are here. And I'd like to add that using love magic to find a suitable boyfriend is, how do you put it...pathetic. At least Aphrodite put some effort into attracting her suitors." It was his step-mother Persephone, whom he loathed nearly as much as that woman. It got even worse as she came stood behind, placing potted daisy on the empty plate in front of him.
"Hello dear. Since you and Lewis are such good friends, I'm sure you'll have no problems babysitting him for me."
"Prissy. I take it, this is Lewis," Noah nodded stiffly to the daisy. "Seeing as I have little choice in the matter, I will take care of him, until his punishment? is through."

Zoe walked into the auditorium with her lips pursed in her average look of disdain and hatred. She looked as though the person who would attempt to talk to her would burn up upon entry into her personal space. She always looked like that though, so no one paid any attention to her. One of the satyrs taking roll walked up to her, appearing to have drawn the short straw. Satyrs were probably the only creatures that had nothing to fear with her, they gave off a calming aura and she never felt like attacking them. This one looked perfectly kind as he walked up to her and looked at his list. ”Terzi, Zoe Kallistrate, Daughter or Ares, correct?” He asked simply. She gave him a glance and softened her face nodding slightly. “Good, welcome back to school, Ms. Terzi.” She sighed and was instantly off to find a place to sit. There were plenty of empty places at full tables, but it was the beginning of term and there were either bound to be new faces or people who were intent on making more friends. That meant that they would be intent on talking to suck my feet them and she would not be that person if she could help it.
Another year, she loved school, she really did, but she would be damned if she was going to let anyone else actually see that. She looked over the familiar hall and a spark light deep inside her somewhere and she observed the revelry. The head master was speaking so she slipped into a nearby hoping that there weren’t any perky people who wanted attention. She looked around calmly taking inventory of who was there. She noticed Persephone, the goddess in charge of the grounds and such standing behind a son of the big three. Instantly she rolled her eyes at the boy there. Children of the big three didn’t taking getting to know, they were all super powerful and because of that always got the upper hand on everything. They were supposed to be frowned upon, but she had yet to find a person who didn’t love the children of the three. Granted sons and daughters of Hades were not the friendliest, butspank me hard outshone everyone easily with their daddy’s magic. Something about them pissed Zoe off to no end. Perhaps it was just the size of her pride, but she really couldn’t stand them.
She sat at the table avoiding eye contact with Noah, the son go Hades, for all she was worth. She looked everywhere, even managed a more than one second look at a boy trying to flirt with her, just to avoid to other person at her sparsely populated table. She did however notice the daisy and held back a mocking laugh at him. They were vastly different. He was all in black and looked almost as brooding and deadly as she did and the flower was bright and yellow and looked innocent and rather content with making him look like a fool in its unknowing innocence. It was almost cute and had there not been a speech going on she would probably have chirped in with some mockery of it more than just laughter. Even if she was mocking and sometimes cruel and always demands, she was polite, she would listen even if she wouldn’t obey. She couldn’t take her eyes off Noah and his flower though, there was some time in her that had to laugh at him, and yes they were cousins. Everyone here was related technically but that didn’t mean they had to like each other. Everyone here was just as much of a freak as the next, though not all in the same way.
Zoe and her kind were freaks because they were so aggressive. Noah and his kind were freaks because they were so dark and death obsessed. It all went down the line until there was nothing left. No one here was normal or sane, technically the Aphrodite kids were close, and some of the lower gods kids too, but that was a close as it got. The funniest part was that, even though they were all related on one side of their family, the best possible matches for people were in the school. The only possible way to recreate, if you were sure you really wanted to pass on your freakishness, was to marry another freak. Zoe wouldn’t have any of the hormonally driven romantic entanglements that came in the school. It wasn’t her style. She was sure that she was too good for that. She would admit to herself, though never aloud, that over the years she had found a boy or girl attractive here or there. They were always the one she pushed away hardest from though. People would sometimes mention that she seemed harshest to them, but she would push it off as nothing and let it slide. That was how her life was and what she was most like.

"You know it Mate, you haven't lived until you've surfed off Pontos' face," Mike couldn't help but laugh. he imagine the sight and smiled. "What about you mate? Still living the Hollywood life?"
"The usual, my dad is busy as ever on a new project. I would of thought he got less jobs as he aged, but that doesn't seem to be the case. you should visit California, i know you'd loved it. All the surfing and hot people are there." He ate another piece of food and washed it down with some water. "We were able to fit in a vacation luckily. We visited Hawaii. We were suppose to go more place, but my dad got called away. Oh, let me describe Hawaii though. We landed about 10:39 on July 3rd. Then we made out way to the terminal..." He was cut off when he noticed Persephone making her way to their table. It was probably good timing though. Mike had a way to get carried away when he tells a story. Going over small insignificant details was something he always did. It was that this time he actually was able to stay on track. It seemed that Persephone was making his way to Corbin the son of Aphrodite. he figured it must be because of something that made that kid storm out earlier.
At least Aphrodite put some effort into attracting her suitors." That was harsh, a detention on the first day was messed up. Persephone could be strict when she wanted. Being in the underworld for half of the year would do that to you. He looked at Corbin with a "really?" look. "Always good to make a memorable first impression. Right Corbin?" He looked at Persephone again, as she talked to that other new student. That one looked dark in a way, he certainly didn't look friendly. Right there Mike made a mental note to approach this one with caution.
It got a little odd when She gave him a flower. His first thought was Persephone is a cradle robber, but then she said. "Since you and Lewis are such good friends, I'm sure you'll have no problems babysitting him for me." Then he realized that she turned some kid into a plant. That was disturbing. he leaned over to Jesse and whispered. "What's with gods transforming people? Pontos turned a kid into a fish the other day. Now Persephone is turning kids into daisies." Getting on a gods bad side was an idiotic move, but sometimes it's unavoidable.
Another kid joined the table. She was girl, a daughter of Ares he remembered. Like most children of Ares she had a look like she wanted to punch someone. She sat down at the table and started to look around. Mike turned his attention off of her and back to eating some more. He had skipped lunch and was quite hungry. He took a few potatoes and started to eat them. Randomly laughter started to come from the girl as she stared a Noah. He already knew this was going to be an interesting term.

Corbin sighed with boredom. He obviously had been in dentention numerous times before at the Academy. He looked at Persephone and said in a sweet voice even though he really hated her,"Aw, Phiphi! You giving me slack this term? Usually you give me detention much earlier! And by the way...I was just finding out if any of these gorgeous men were bi or gay. Thank you very much. I have to know if they are, because I don't want to waste my time on straight guys." He shifted so that his arms were crossed as well as his legs. "Oh well, I guess I'll just have to seduce these handsome young men with no powers, just beauty and charm." He looked at the Hades child sitting at the table. Corbin might just have to talk to him later. He had obviously narrowed his choices down to Jesse Monroe, the handsome beach hunk son of Oceanus, and the gorgeous Hades boy.
He then noticed the Ares brat who sat down. Corbin imddeiately took to disliking her. She was making the mood seem tense and uncomfortable. He then directed his attention back to the Hades boy. Something about him made Corbin want to fly. He had never before been filled with butterflies in his stomach, but he just was. He looked deeply at the Hades boy and asked kindly,"...Might, I ask what your name would be, handsome son of Hades?"
He clenched the detention slip in his had and put it into his pocket. He ran his hand through his hair and batted his eyes a little. He had washed his hair 10 times the day before and twice today so his hair was soft and smooth. He then realized that he might even like this boy more than the beach hunk sitting nearby at the table. He licked his lips quickly to try and get the Hades boy to like him. He pulled a chapstick container from his pocket. He pressed it against his lips and when he put it away his lips seem to have some glitter on them as well as a pink tint.

Zoe rolled her eyes at the flirting at the boy, who was obviously from her father’s useless lover, Aphrodite. She’d always laughed at how Love and war were the two most loyal of lovers. One married and both always cheating with humans, but neither cared because both did such lechery. Here they were, the offspring of the lechery, battling a war that their parents didn’t have. Usually you only hated the ones that your parent hated, and some just hated their own and their parental allies. Love and War were different. They always proved the clichés, including ‘All is fair in love and war.’ She’d never actually seen anyone of love’s little angels flirting with death. She had always assumed any of the big three’s would be attractive to them most of all. After all the power emitting from them was fantastic and love was Aphrodite’s power play.
That was a disgusting thought for her. Letting the people you used physically play your power for you. Yes they were pawns, but it felt like giving a bit of yourself to them to make them do what you want. She’d rather fight alone. Yes she had her army, her housemates, her few friends. That was based on fear or loyalty. That was what she lived on, fear and loyalty. She followed well in his footsteps. She would have loved to be in the military, it’s the track she was supposed to be on, but she had issues with her superiors. She didn’t take orders well. Usually she didn’t get in too much trouble, yeah sometimes she would use her powers when she doesn’t mean to, just because she’s annoyed with someone and when them to get hurt, but she doesn’t usually do so. Zoe is actually very restrained.
Looking at the Table she found that she was surrounded by one gay, Aphrodite boy, and he was such a “Paiderastí̱s.((Pansy))” The modern Greek word slipped from her mouth completing her thought. Then the other was the son of a Titan, and seemed fine, not her kind to be friends with, but fine. Then the last was of course, the son of Hades. All boys, not a new thing for her, and only one person to truly piss her off, only one. She just hoped he would stay out of her way enough so that she wouldn’t do something he’s regret.

Ah back talk. Such a thing would have been more galling if it was happening to Persephone for the first time. But it wasn't. It wasn't even back talk in it's wittiest form, though Persephone had a feeling that there were sea sponges that were more intelligent then the Aphrodite boy currently trying to be rude to her. She could have pointed out that this was the start of term and that she couldn't have given him detention any earlier. Well..she could, but she would have had to have a talk with Kronos and a trip to Tarturus just wasn't worth it. Instead Persephone only settled on primply saying,
"Rules are rules Mr Cruz. You do not use your powers in any other area except the arena and that is final." She had to stifle a laugh when he said something about beauty and charm. Where was this so called beauty and charm, she had been looking at this boy for fifteen minutes (and that was fifteen minutes too long) and had yet to spot either. He would probably be more successful if he used craigstlist.
"...Might, I ask what your name would be, handsome son of Hades?" The boy was so blatant and obvious about using his abilities, so much like that irritating mother of his, which in itself seemed to break the spell he was trying to spin around Noah. He looked the rather pathetic Aphrodite boy dead on with his cold shadowed eyes.
"No you may not. Perhaps you should go hit on those satyrs over there, I hear they are always looking for a good time. You're not above inter-species relationships are you?" his words cutting the air like barbed stygian iron. Noticing for the first time, a girl at the table, who was so painfully obviously a daughter of Ares, he was surprised he hadn't noticed her til now. He gave her a cold curt nod as a form of greeting, before settling his brooding gaze back on Lewis the Daisy.
Persephone bit down on another retort when Corbin started to speak to Noah. Didn't the little brat see that she was trying to have a conversation with her step son? If she hadn't been so annoyed, she would have felt amusement that someone was actually trying to flirt with Noah. A lot of impossible things could happen in this world...but not Noah falling for this son of Aphrodite. She stifled a laugh at her step son's response, though it was hard for Persephone to swallow the growing number of retorts that was currently trying to escape her. She had to remind herself that she was a member of the faculty and not some mean girl type though Corbin certainly inspired that in her.
“Paiderastí̱s.((Pansy))” Commented the Ares girl sitting at the table with them.
"Oh not a pansy." This was said to the Daughter of Ares who was also seated at the table. Persephone understood Greek well enough and she smirked at the girl in an amiable way as if sharing a joke with her. "Pansies are rather nice flowers, strong willed. A rose would be better since they're vain and useless."
"Prissy, what did he do exactly to deserve this fate?" the slightest hint of guilt crept into his mind as she explained about finding the reindeer sh*t liberally applied to her room at Hades' Palace. He recalled having a conversation about doing just that very idea not more than a couple of weeks ago. Noah would come clean with Prissy, he may be a son of a b*tch, but he was a loyal son of a b*tch. Lewis had never done anything to hurt Noah, unlike some people he had once trusted; it was the least he could do.
"It was my idea Prissy. Revenge for the last time you turned me into a daisy. None the less, I am willing to make a deal with you. Turn him back, and I'll accept whatever punishment you see if, with the exception of turning me into a daisy again."
Turning back to Noah, she explained to him what Lewis had done to deserve getting turned into a Daisy. She could appreciate fertilizer but to have dung strewn all over your chambers was quite a different matter. However, she did raise an eyebrow at Noah's admission of guilt. She hadn't thought he had it in him...
"Anything?" Oh that was a dangerous thing to offer, and it made Persephone break out the perky smiles. "I think I can live with not turning you into a daisy again." She replied. "But I think Noah, you can start by going shopping with me. How does this weekend sound?"
Noah's insides crawled at the thought of spending any kind of "quality time" with his step mother, let alone go shopping with her, his eyes shooting over to Lewis-Daisy, and knew it was right thing to do. He stood offering her his hand, as emotionless and cold as stone, speaking crisply, "Very well. We have a deal. Now if you would be so kind," he stood back gesturing to Lewis-Daisy.

It seemed as if summer had just started yesterday and she was back in Texas, spending as much time as she could with her family. Now it was time for school to start again. It wasn't that she didn't like school, it was just that she didn't really get along with too many people. Some avoided her because she was a Daughter of Ares and others wanted nothing to do with her because she wasn't a stereotypical daughter of Ares. Oh sure, she loved to fight and argue and she was loud. She even had a black belt in karate and judo, but she was also into music and the occult. Very rarely did she ever go anywhere without her tarot deck that had been a birthday present. For her thirteenth birthday her grandmother, Alia, and her had flown to Salem, home of the Witch trials. They had been browsing around a small, cluttered New Age shop, very much like the one her own grandmother used to own, when he attention had been caught by a deck of tarot cards. The images were all dark, even the good card, but it was the Gothic Tarot, after all. The deck, along with the sword her father had given her for the same birthday, was one of her favorite birthday gifts ever.
She paused in front of the satyr that had been unfortunate enough to be placed on roll call duty. " Wise, Heaven Lee, Daughter of Ares," he said after a quick glance up at the girl. He did a quick double take and called after her as she hurried into the hall, "spank me hard! You know you're not allowed to have your piercings in!"
Heaven rolled her green eyes as she entered the hall. Of course she knew that she wasn't allowed to wear her piercings, but it never stopped her before. She had gone through pain to obtain her body mods, there was no way she was going to take the out, she thought to herself as she fiddled with the ring that pierced the right side of her lower lip. She was covered in rings, you just couldn't see most of them because of her shirt.
She had opted to dress down, somewhat, instead of wearing something off the wall like she was wont to. Her shirt was a crisp, white button down shirt with a collar. It was probably the only normal things she was wearing. A black tie hung from her neck, but if you looked closely you could see blood running down the length of it. Her black skirt also had blood splatters on it. Not real ones of course, black didn't show blood well. That was one of the reasons Heaven liked black clothing. Her jewelry carried on the morbid theme of her clothing. All three holes in her ears sported earrings with razor blades dangling from them. Her necklace and bracelet also had razor blades on them. The outfit was completed with her favorite platform boots. They gave her at least an extra three inches in height to her own pitiful five foot even. the only make up she had bothered with was black eyeliner, as usual.
She hurriedly made her way over to an occupied table and seated herself as she listened to Pontos' speech. She wanted to roll her eyes during it, but refrained. Gods above, he was making it sound like they were all attending Hogwarts or something. Heaven could only wish. Being a wizard would have been so much easier then being a demigod, that was for sure.
She waited until Pontos was finished with his speech to pull out a dark bundle of cloth from one of her boots. She pushed several dishes out of her way and unwrapped the bundle, unveiling her tarot deck in the process. She quickly dug through the deck until she found her signifying card or the card that represented herself. She always used the Night of Wands. She smiled happily down at the picture of the Angel that was standing on top of the huge serpent, a long wand held in it's right hand. This card signified a person who was headstrong, energetic, and unpredictable. After she had plucked the card she needed from the deck, she began to shuffle the remainder. Should do a reading now? Nothing was stopping her from doing so if she really wanted to.

Another year, more new attendees. David sighed it was getting predictable now that he had been here a few years. It was the same speech, the same teachers. The same type of drama. He was sick of it. As David entered the Hall he looked around at each person there.
There was Pontos the Headmaster. Like he would ever leave the place anyways. A son of Apollo just by the way he dressed; David could tell that easily enough. Then there was his brother who's name he had already forgotten. A titan's son...oh joy here we go. Another titan's son...How many were there anyways? He sighed yet again as he walked toward the table he always sat at and kept gazing around at everyone.
Well, well a goddess had decided to come down and visit. He smiled lightly taking her appearance in for a few minutes then figured out who she was. It was Persephone; goddess of Spring. This was going to be interesting After that there were a few mentionables but David quickly forgot about them his attention stuck on the goddess that was now here. Damn he felt like taking her there but pretty much that how his mother made him. He was a womanizer with anyone to calm him down at least that he knew of.
Sighing after the Headmaster finished his speech he spoke to himself not really caring to know who or what heard him, "Another boring school year has started. Maybe this time something exciting will happen. Its only up to the fates to tell." He slowly stood up and walked toward the door but stopped seeing a female daughter of; well he couldn't exactly tell but by the attitude toward the satyr that announced her she was an Ares kid. Oh joy another bloodthirsty maniac.
The he saw it. he saw he pull out a few Tarot cards and was instantly curious as to how much she could predicate and how accurate the predictions were. "Well, well now. An Ares kid. The name is David; son of Aphrodite. Nice to meet you miss....?" He attempted at making conversation with a person he knew would possibly like some company. If not well he'd just get out of there and probably head to the beach; either way this was going to be entertaining.

Aimee bounded up the front steps to the entrance of Half Blood Academy. The summer came to an end far to quickly for her tastes. It wasn't as if she disliked school, all her friends were there. But the days spent at her grandfather's place, playing Mah Jong, and drinking lemonade on hot days was fun. Oh and the Renaissance festival, well, festivals would be the correct term. The dancing and fooling around and just plain craziness was all so much fun. Yes, summer needed to come around more often, or at least a bit faster. She took the stairs two at a time skipping to a halt in front of a satyr who was currently checking off names on a sheet of paper. "Zhou, Aimee. Daughter of Dionysus" Aimee grinned as she nodded her head. "That's me!" she chimed as she slipped off down the hall.
Aimee pushed her hands into the pockets of her bright red coat as she looked around. Everything look just the same. That was somewhat of a comfort and a let down. She was hoping for a bit of a change. Like, oh I don't know a new paint job or something. She would take new curtains at this point. Did this place even have curtains. She made a mental note to see once she was past the welcoming thingy. This happened every year, so it wasn't really a required thing that all the student be there, but she liked to be there on time just in case. For example, if there was a party, she was the daughter of Dionysus after all. But truth be told she was slightly shy. Oh she liked the odd party and such, but mostly it became a slight bore. And everyone always expected her to show up. Which is understandable.
She walked into the great hall and looked around her. Ah, plently of old and new faces. Perfect, at least she wasn't completely and utter by herself. That would just be sad. Her bright brown eyes slowly scanned the room, catching sight of Pontos as he rose to the the traditional welcoming speech. Aimee's eyebrows went up slightly as she searched the familiar and unfamiliar crowd for a place to sit. She didn't like standing when someone was speaking, well, unless they were speaking directly to her. But in this instance he wasn't. Aimee smiled in relief when she spotted Heaven, one of her best friends if not her one best friend. True they made an odd pair, daughters of Ares and Dionysus. But, for some reason it worked.
Aimee slipped in and out of various students. Thanking the gods for her small size for once. "Heaven! Hi! well it's good to see at least one familiar face around here" she said plopping herself down into a seat beside her. Aimee laced her fingers together as she placed her hands on the table top silently waiting when something was going to happen. All of this was all well and good, but it did get boring. She sent her dark eyes toward the boy who was standing next to the table. Watching as Heaven and her tarot cards.
"Will don't just stand there. Sit. I'm Aimee, daughter of Dionysus" She grinned in a polite way, hoping that Heaven wouldn't mind to much. Words: 592 Comments: ^_^ Outfit: Clickit

Heaven glanced up at the boy, her green eyes blank as she took him in. He was blindingly handsome and he had style. He was son of one of the love gods or goddess, most likely Aphrodite or Eros. Oh, so he was a child of Aphrodite, she was right. And how did he know who her father was? She pushed the thought out of her mind as she began to dig through her pile of cards, looking for a certain one. "Heaven," she said distractedly as she pawed through her deck. When made a small happy noise and held the card up for the boy to see. The card was The Lovers. A pair of lovers were pictured under an arch with a winged skeleton carved into each side. The woman had a look of ecstasy on her face as her loved one held her tight and tilted her head, sinking his fangs into her neck in the process. "Not everyone will be attracted by your sexual appeal. If you continue down this path all of your relationships will be shallow and petty." Normally Heaven was as psychic as a cactus, but whenever she was holding onto her deck, she could be scarily accurate. Of course, she wasn't as good as the Apollo kids were with predictions. Whenever she did a reading they were only possible outcomes about what could happen. A simple yes or no to a question could change everything entirely.
Heaven smiled up as another person seated themselves next to her. "Hi Aimee. It's good to see you too." It was kind of odd that a daughter of Ares and a daughter of Dionysus would be friends, but Aimee was Heaven's best friend at the Academy. When the other girl turned to address the boy, David, she replaced The Lover and sorted through the deck again until she found the next card she was looking for. "The Knave of Wands," She said, trying to get Aimee's attention. "It signifies an innocent, lively and positive person. Don't always believe what everyone tells you Aimee." She laughed slightly, ruining the the dramatic effect that she had been going for. "Except for me of course, I'll never steer you wrong."
Heaven stacked her deck neatly and covered it with the cloth again and set it off to the side. Once she saw that it was in no danger of being ruined, she turned her attention to Aimee. "So, how was your summer? Did you manage to meet anybody this time? Or did you just sit at home and do nothing?" She asked, her voice slipping into her thick, Texas drawl. Heaven's summer had been uneventful, to say the least. She'd ridden around her grandmother's ranch, helping to break the horses in, and she'd spent time at her mother's tattoo parlor, apprenticing under Jazz for piercing. She hadn't learned much from him though. He'd been more interested in flirting with her then teaching her. If she ever planned on becoming a piercer herself, she was going to have to go to a different shop and learn from someone that was thinking with their bigger head. Of course, the fact that Jazz was the one she went to when she wanted to sneak into some of the clubs in Houston didn't help.

It was infrequent that Umber did not recognize the names and faces swirling around her still frame. But there were a few days per year where this ignorance was accepted, and even expected. The Welcoming Ceremony was one of those infrequent days, and having been to many Ceremonies before, Umber felt little need to arrive on time. The Ceremony had started quite a while ago, she knew. The bell announcing its commence had rung clearly through the halls. However, Umber merely turned a page in her thick tome and continued to read, glancing up occasionally to see if she could skim one more chapter before leaving the sanctuary of her impersonal dorm room to the bustling, cacophonous, frenzied aura of the Great Hall.
She, unfortunately, had not had time for that last chapter. But then again, when ever did she? There was always one more chapter, one more page, one more paragraph of phenomena to be found somewhere.
So the taciturn young adult poked one earbud close to her eardrum, allowing the other to hang around her neck. The end of the cord dropped from her loose grasp when she went to plug it into her iPod, but when she blinked it was plugged in anyway. A tiny smile flinched on the corner of her mouth--the joys of being the spawn of a 'witch' goddess, that quite often, tiny coincidences or spurts of luck tended to occur in your favor. Joyous, though she preferred to do things herself.
And now the fair, dark-haired girl found herself ensconced in a sea of social interaction, one she habitually avoided taking on first person. The student body was largely composed of those educated in Hecate's true nature, but ignorance is still a powerful deterrent, and Hecate's children tended to receive a slight chill from the whispers and turned backs of those who refused to comprehend truth, preferring instead to trust their wayward perceptions of the common stereotype and hyperbole.
Gazing around herself, Gothic chimes echoing in her one ear, student babble in the other, Umber found little to interest herself until this show of interpersonal communication came to a reluctant halt. The social scene really didn't belong to her, and she belonged only on its fringes, watching and learning, teaching herself from her analytical observations. Humans--even half-humans--could be so very entertaining. She even found it in herself to partake on the rare occasion, but those happenings were few and farther between. Today was not the day for change. Not in her lifestyle.
A girl to her left slid a pack of decorated cards off to her side, tossing a soft cloth protectively over them, the same way a mother would tuck her children away for the night. Another tiny smile touched Umber's nearly expressionless features. A fortune-teller? There was a point of interest peeking out of the mundane scenery after all. Umber slowly approached the girl, who, she realized, she vaguely resembled. Except for the metal additions in her face--Umber did not adorn herself in any fashion unless forced, which was a difficult and courageous task. "Do you read for money or for entertainment?" she inquired curiously of the girl.

Well, it was time to get to the ol' grind. Back to school, and all that jazz. Truth be told, Blane loved school. It gave him a chance to get away from home. It wasn't that he didn't like his family or anything, he loved them, but there wasn't much to do in small town in the middle of Iowa. Coming back to school was a big treat for him. Here, he could be himself without having to pass his visions off as a weak constitution. Back home he couldn't play any sports, he could spend much time with the other kids in town, he couldn't even go too far away from home. When he was younger he had no control over his visions and had even passed out a few times at school. He had quickly learned to keep his visions to himself. Of course, the one time he had met someone who had 'starred' in one of his visions he had been compelled to blurt out what he'd seen. His teacher hadn't believed him and had died a week later in a car crash. If she would have buckled up like Blane had told her to do, then she would have survived the accident.
Blane ran one tanned hand through his dark brown hair and stooped in front of the grumpy old satyr. Boy did the satyrs make him miss home and Bob and Peanut, his two pet goats. He smiled at the short little goat man as he checked the list. " Wittney, Blane Robert, son of Apollo. Go on in," the satyr said after he had checked the grinning boy's name off of the list. "Thanks!" Blane chirped as he trolled into the Great Hall, his hands shoved into his pockets. He was dressed in a pair of torn up and faded jeans, a battered pair of of sneakers, and a Black t-shirt that had a red and whitelick my nostril MY NAME IS tag on it. It said "Hello, my name is Inigo Montoya, you killed my father. Prepare to die."
He watched, eyebrows raised as one of his brothers brushed by him. Well, wasn't he just a ray of sunshine? No pun intended of course. He shrugged and made his way over to a table that was crowded with people. He knew for a fact that one of the girls was a daughter of Hecate, she was the one still standing. He was pretty sure that the girl with the piercings was a daughter of Ares, but he wasn't sure. The other girl, he didn't know from Adam. "Hello ladies. Mind if I sit here? Blane asked as he plopped down into an empty chair, directly across from the girl that was of obvious Asian decent. "Hi there!" he said with a huge grin, his blue eyes sparkling. My name's Blane Wittney, what's yours?"

Aimee turned her dark eyed gaze to Heaven as she drew another card from her deck. Of course she couldn't mess the slightly, how to put it? b*tchy response that Heaven had given the poor boy. David, Aimee thought he over heard him say. She wasn't very good with names, usually took meeting the person three or four times for their name to really stick into her mind. Aimee tilted her head to the side as she regarded the card. "Oooh, what's that one?" she asked eagerly, her attention completely drawn to her best friend. To say that Aimee had a short attention span was a bit much. It wasn't that it was short, it's just that she found so many other things to peek her interest that it drew her attention from the others. Yes, that was a good way to put it.
Aimee listened in interest at Heaven's explanation of the card. She couldn't help but laugh at the end of it. "You never do, Heaven" She smiled. Aimee shrugged out of her red coat, giving a slight groan as she did so. How was her summer, the same as any other summer, but for the festivals. "Oh it was fun. Spent it with my grandpa and all. Mainly playing Mahjong, that was kinda boring, but at least I got to hear some good stories. Oh! and the Ren fest came! you know, Renaissance festival. That was so much fun!!" she said talking slightly faster then normal in her excited mood. Aimee gave a small nod in greeting to the new comer, a daughter of Hecate she thought. Once again her memory on the name completely failing her.
"Anyway, how was your summer? spend it with your mom again? You so have to invite me to that parlor of hers. I'd love to see it." Aimee's eyes traveled over to another newcomer to their group. A boy, rather cute at that. Did she know him? she racked her brain to try and remember. "No, not at all. Sit, sit" Aimee grinned, relief flooding her face when he introduced himself. Ok, good, so she didn't know him. Well that was good to know, better to know she hadn't completely spaced on his name. "Nice to meet 'cha, Blane. I'm Aimee" She said brightly, stretching her hand across to him.

She bounced through the campus to the welcome ceremony thingy. It was a party, that's all, the only reason she was even going. A boring event was not on her to do list. She avoided banquets at all costs...she didn't like having to wear heels-unless they were comfortable- and wearing dresses that weren't meant for jumping around a dance floor. Iola smiled and nodded to the sayter who was taking the role call thingy mbabber...She heard her name, but it was distant. She had no clue where she would sit this year. Most of her friends had left the academy, graduating last year, so this was like starting all over. It also meant she could do even better parties! Of course she had to get her track record up...four more detentions to put on her wall for next week. She had been put in 'detention' for reckless partying, jumping off the roof onto a trampoline-honestly she was fine- and for going into the boys locker room with a camcorder.
Iola bounced into the room and frowned. Oh goody! One open, empty table! And since there wasn't assigned tables she was going to sit there. If anyone wanted to join her they could she had no problems with it. She didn't normally have a problem with going around being a social butterfly, but she wanted to look around first, make sure she could find people she could party with...or drag to a party against their will. She needed epic friends! Not that many of the students were boring or something, but she wanted ones that were...more like her she supposed.
The blond sat down and put her feet up on the table, she knew it was going to get her in trouble, but whatever she was comfortable her father...or someone would smack her on the back of the head or make her do laps...or something. Her green eyes scanned the room, she saw some familiar faces, and then some new ones, but there was one that caught her attention. Whylick my nostril there hot stuff.
She wasn't all about boys, but he looked like someone who could party, have some good naughty fun. He may become her partner in crime, for the year anyway. Iola jumped up, causing her to fall onto the floor. Yeah she hadn't planned that out very well, she probably should have taken her feet off the table first and then jumped out of her seat. She was just really excited for finding a possible partner in crime!
The blond with Purple and Yellow lips picked herself up off the ground and rushed to the stranger. She was going to have so much fun...hopefully, he looked like a fun guy! “Hi there! I don't think I've ever seen you around here before! You look like the kinda guy who likes to paaaaarrrrrty!” she said stopping right in front of the boys face.
She was looking up at him, her face rather close to his, analyzing.

Man, this sucked. School sucked. Everyone sucked! Well, except for him of course, he let other do the sucking for him. He smiled slightly at the thought. A frown quickly replaced it though when he remembered why he was in this place. God, it wasn't like he'd ever been attacked before, his aura was too weak, so why did he have to come here? Oh yeah, but cause Mam had asked him to. He softened a bit. His Mam was the one person who could convince him to do anything, even go to a hell hole of a school. Well, he supposed it wasn't all bad, the classes were some what interesting. He could be stuck in a normal Mortal school, that would have been the worst.
He smirked and winked at people he knew as he strolled through the Great Hall. He had stopped just long enough at the door for the goat man to blurt out " O' Malley, Drake Ardan, son of Eros," before he had strutted into the Hall. He was dressed in a pair of black jeans and a simple blue t-shirt with a nice pair of sneakers.
Drake stopped at a table, pulled one of the seated girls up and kissed her full on the lips. He removed his mouth and smiled down at her and she smiled back at him. With a whispered promise in her ear he moved onto another table. At the next table he stopped at it was a boy that he pulled up. He didn't kiss this one on the mouth, instead he lowered his head to whisper in the other boys ear and nipped the lobe gently.
He moved away from the boy and seated himself at an empty table. Why should he bother with going to the many people who enjoyed their time together, when they could come to him? It would be easier and he wouldn't get any dirty looks from the people that had tried to put a leash on him. He was fine for extended relationships, just as long as no one expected it to be a closed relationship. It was hard to be in a committed relationship when your father was the god of lust and sex. It also effected Drake's sexuality. He wasn't heterosexual, bisexual, or homosexual. He didn't care about what gender you were, just as long as you were pretty.
Drake was smiling at one of his girls made he way toward him when someone shoved their face right in front of his own. He jerked back slightly, clearly startled. The girl, it was a girl was very pretty, he thought as he tried to calm his beating heart. "Why,lick my nostril there. I haven't seen you around here either," he said with a growing smile. My name's Drake O' Malley, what's yours?" He asked the girl, ignoring the quickly approaching female.

Iola smirked and sat down in the chair next to him, putting her neon blue high tops on the table like she had done at her other table. She liked him already. He had an awesome...um...okay so he was insanely cute, hot, she would love to party with that. “Well! That is interesting since this place is huge! And my parties are usually so packed I can't dance with everyone...or have more...intimate parties,” her last comment made her smile.
She remembered her last party and grinned. She had enjoyed her surprise. She wasn't bi...at least she didn't think she was, whatever the case she woke up with a guy and a girl on either side of her. She had no idea what happened the night before, just that she threw a party. She came up with a pretty good idea of what she did after she drank...and would have loved to remember some of it. “I'm Iola Hardy. Party planner and partier extraordinaire,” she added grinning slyly.
She bit her bottom lip and looked the boy up and down again. She was quiet pleased with her choice in possible friend..if not more. Oh the things she would love to do with him, besides dancing and partying. She didn't know him though, not that it stopped her before, but something about this Drake was intriguing, so much so that she wanted to make him a permanent friend. “I see you as someone who parties...a lot. Am I correct in my assumption, or are you simply just dressed the party and can't hold your excitement?” she asked crossing her arm over her chest and smirking.
Yes there was a meaning in that, whether the boy understood what she was getting at was all up to him. He could ignore it or use it, she hoped he went with the second because it was just be much more entertaining if he did. Iola smiled and tilted her head to the side, not realizing what her arms were doing to her chest.
She didn't care about who came up to them, so long as they didn't ruin things for her, she was having a wonderful time, and she was already starting to plan what she would do to crash this party.

Post by September Marisol Summers on Sept 17, 2010 15:41:14 GMT -7
Seppie skipped to the magical land of Oz into the hall, where a large table was set up, full of satyrs. Some were incredible thin, some were incredibly fat, and some, well, they didn't have a distinct figure. It was sort of fat, but not too fat and skinny, but not like a stick. Like......a fat giraffe. Kinda. The satyr that Seppie ended up with was one of those regular ones. You know, average satyr. Always trying to run with dryads or naiads. Yeah. Bad luck, right?
"September Summers, daughter of Lady Demeter?" he announced. Seppie hopped up to him, and smiled, ear to ear. "Yep! That's me alright!" Usually, she wasn't like this, all hyped up and stuff, but today was the day she can see her friends again! After picking up her card, she pinned it on her arm, instead of her chest, to lure, um... 'mentally reserved' men away from her pair. There were some guys that had a godly parent who was just like that: Eros, maybe Aphrodite, and others which Seppie had forgotten their names of. Walking past the satyr, she heard a whistle from behind. Turning to see who made such and odd noise, September saw it was that satyr that had checked her off. Raising her eyebrows, she just snorted with contempt.
Seppie searched for her friends in the crowds. She looked up over Paul Bunyan students and under hobbit like students. No where to be found. Seppie almost gave up, before she heard a familiar voice: “Hi there! I don't think I've ever seen you around here before! You look like the kinda guy who likes to paaaaarrrrrty!” Wait, was that---
"Iola! Oh, my gosh! I haven't seen you in AGES. What have you been up to this summer? Did you have fun at parties?" Seppie asked slyly. She smirked at the guy Iola was talking to, but didn't do anything else much. Slipping away, September looked for more of her friends.
"Nice to meet 'cha, Blane. I'm Aimee" September stopped once more. You know, these stops aren't doing much for a workout; they are just plain annoying. Anyways, Seppie slipped through more crowds, before coming to a stop at a table. Aimee Zhou, a friend of September. Well sort of. They don't talk much, but they both sometimes chit chat idly with each other for a bit. She was about to saylick my nostril, before a young man cut in and introduced himself. His name was Blane. Blane Wittney. Smirking to herself, September came up to them, trying to act nonchalantly as best as she could.
"Hello, I'm September. Nice to meet you, Mr. Blane" she said politely, sticking her arm out as a handshake.

Heaven nodded with a roll of her green eyes. Of course she had spent the summer with her mom. It wasn't like she could spend it with her father or anything."Trust me, you don't wanna stay there any longer then you have to. I mean, it's not so bad if it's Jazz I'm working with, but I can't stand watching my mom flirt with young guys that are just a bit older then I am." Heaven shuddered at the thought. Her mother just didn't know how to keep it in her pants. The boys also seemed to be getting younger and younger.
Heaven glanced up when she heard another person speaking to her. The girl she spotted looked vaguely like her, same color hear and pale skin, but she didn't really know the girl. She glanced back down at her deck and back up at the girl before a small smile spread across her face. "I do it for my own enjoyment, though I won't say no to tips," she said with a small chuckle. She enjoyed reading her cards, that was why she did it. Sure, she liked it when people were happy enough with a reading to give her a few dollars, but she wasn't like most 'professional psychics'. She didn't charge forty bucks for a reading and she didn't ever plan on charging for one. People came to ask for readings when they were in need or curious, and who was she to charge for something that she had no control over? It wasn't as if she was the psychic one, the cards were the one with the power, she just interpreted wheat she was shown.
She quickly reached for her deck and began to frantically paw through it. She glanced up at the girl from time to time until she reached the card she was looking for. The card depicted an Egyptian priestess with an ornate headdress that was topped with a horned sun. She stood beneath an intricate arch way. "The High Priestess. She signifies one who is wise, calm, mysterious and in possession of an intuitive nature. Beware or others will come to see you as conceited and a know it all." When she was finished speaking Heaven slid the card back into the deck and covered it again, laying it gently down on the table before glanced back up at the girl. "Well, sit down," she told the other girl a bit sharply, as she motioned for her to take a seat.
