There were those who would say that having semi prophetic dreams were the bane of every demi god's existence. However, if anybody were to pose this question to Shay at that very moment they would have been rewarded with an arctic glare and an answer which fell along the lines of, "It's insomnia actually. At least with dreams I know I'm getting some sleep." The words, 'You idiot' would then hang heavy in the air, threatening to drop on that poor unsuspecting inquirer if they didn't just get lost. All in all, it was a good thing that no one was actually with Shay at that precise moment. This was not surprising for two main reasons...One, it was past curfew (several hours past in fact. A glance at her watch told her that it was almost two o'clock in the morning.) And Two, she was Shay du Rone. When she wanted to be left alone, people fell all over themselves to make that happen. Zeus forbid they'd get their petty feelings hurt when she turned snarky. "Idiot." The word was a bone dry hiss as she continued her staring contest with the Long Island Sound. Her eyes were just as grey and as moody as it's waters but then again, the thoughts running through Shay's mind at the moment were less then cheery. Students seemed to have become more and more annoying this school year. While Shay was not the friendliest person in the world, she had always manage to find someone knew that she could tolerate. Someone to add to her very small circle of friends. She had yet to find that someone as all the common fodder around the academy irritated her at 'Hello..' To make things worse, she couldn't even spend as much time as she would have liked with Vesper. Not with Scooby hanging around her best friend like he always did, the constant smell of garlic that clung to him never failed to make Shay dizzy. It never...paid to be dizzy and not alert around Scooby. Shaking her head to clear her thoughts, Shay decided that she had to formulate some sort of plan to drag Vesper out of school for a little bit and into Manhattan. If they were lucky, they'd probably get to slay some monsters between Sephora and Macy's. "I'm actually thinking about shopping." Her voice was a whisper though thanks to the relative silence, it carried on the sea breeze. "School has officially reached new levels of boring." Carelessly Shay touched her left wrist, usually she would have a bracelet there but she hadn't seen it since that time she took a tumble off a very crazy Pegasus. And that was another thing to be grumpy about. Word count: 471 Muse: Confused and all over the place Tags: Sebastian Notes: Safe

In the dimness of the Apollo residence, a single student lay awake in his bunk, troubled thoughts making it hard for sleep to dawn on him. Yes, he was very tired. Yes, he wanted nothing more than his blessed rest. Yes, the day had been long and dreary. And yet, even as he had tossed and turned in his bed countless of times, he couldn’t bring himself to even catch a wink. Still no avail. It seemed as if Lord Morpheus had decided to keep Sebastian out of his realm for the night.
Annoyed, Sebastian let out a huge exhale of vexation. He slowly got out of his bed, pausing for a bit to massage the back of his neck as he sat on the edge, shoulders slumped in an exhausted manner. Dragging himself to change in a more decent attire than his white cotton shirt and boxers, he thought inwardly that maybe short walk outside would be helpful to this problem. He didn’t bother to comb his hair, deciding that he wouldn’t be taking too long with his stroll anyway. Having that out-of-bed appearance and sleepy look in his eyes, Sebastian, with his messy locks that stuck in odd directions, looked exactly like someone who had just stumbled out of bunk.
Careful not to wake his other siblings up, he silently walked outside, the door quietly closing behind him. The first thing he noticed when he stepped into the porch was the full rounded moon that hovered in the clear, star-filled sky. It glowed almost ethereally, and Sebastian stopped to stare for a while, fascinated with it. It was quite a wonder. A small smile tugged at the corners of his mouth as he inwardly praised the Moon Goddess for her beauty. Innocence and Mystery. He jammed his hands into the back pockets of his jeans, and immediately his features had on that confused appearance when he felt something brush against his fingers. Curious, he took it out.
Bringing it to the light of the moon, the dangling object glinted silver and purple as Sebastian realized that it was that bracelet he had found at the flowerbed after that beach incident. Shay, he whispered as he read the inscription on one of the charms. Instinctively, as if it worked on its own accord, his palm closed around the jewelry. His face took on a softer, almost unguarded look as he remembered the girl. Shay really was something.
That little thought influencing his decision, Sebastian turned towards the direction of the beach, jogging a little. He wanted to go back to the place where they had first met. He didn’t know why, but somehow, there was something inside him that felt as if he was being pulled towards the spot. As he neared there, the cold sea breeze hit him full in the face, disarraying more his already tousled hair. He saw the white waves softly lapping the shore, creating an almost gentle lullaby song. Shivering a little, Sebastian hulked in his frame in the thin material of his sweater. He rubbed his hands together, blowing warm air on his fingers as his cheeks turned red from the cold. From his vantage point, he saw a small figure perched on a rock where he had seen Shay sat on at their first meeting. He couldn’t see well who it was because it was dark still, but the light of the moon made it unmistakable for him to conclude that it was a girl. He was kind of hesitant to approach whoever it was because A) to say he wasn’t an expert in dealing with the female species would be an understatement; and B) it could very well be a monster cleverly disguising as a human being. Feeling for his magic fork in his sweater’s pockets, he took a small step forward. Just in case.

By this time Shay's thoughts had drifted from shopping to perhaps cutting her time at the academy short. Her father was still in China, Beijing to be a little more exact, and she was staring to think that being home alone would be better then being stuck here. Shay sighed, a soft but unmistakeably irritated sound. Was she outgrowing the academy? Such a thought did not sit well with Shay and it caused her to move restlessly on her perch. The material of her cotton pajamas scraped up against the rock and Shay burrowed deeper into the jacket that she had carelessly thrown on before sneaking out of the Athena residence. Was she outgrowing the academy? She knew that some students got tired of this life and just drop out to go to more normal mortal schools, but that had seemed worlds away when she had just been twelve years old.
Maybe..she could ask Persephone if the Athena residence could have a little field trip. They could go into Manhattan and maybe put down a rouge monster or two. Training in the arena was one thing but pitting yourself up against a real monster was another. And maybe it would work wonders on cabin unity. Or..if Persephone disagreed (which she probably would) Athena cabin could always built a monument of sorts to the Gods. Carelessly she tapped her fingers on her knee, this was a better path of thought then she had been going down earlier and Shay was going to milk it for all it's worth.
Unfortunately though the sounds of someone approaching made her snap out of her thoughts. It didn't sound like one of those curfew harpies but Shay's right hand was already going to the black and gold hair band she was currently wearing. Slipping it off her head she gained her feet in one fluid motion. Dark hair whipped about her shoulders as she spun to face the person approaching her and Shay had a second to think that Persephone would not be very appreciative of her slashing the curfew harpies into bits but if they attacked first...
Her eyes narrowed as they focused on the approaching figure. Monster cleverly disguised as a human being? Sebastian Aiden wasn't that lucky to have stumbled across one. Instead he had broken Shay out of her train of thought yet again. What was with this boy and interrupting her whenever she was on the verge of something truly brilliant. As it was the sight of him was causing most of her thoughts to flee. They were being replaced by flashes of memory and those mostly centered around him holding out her bikini top...
Quick as a flash she zipped up the jacket she was wearing. The sound of the zipper going up was like a gun shot in the relative silence of the beach. "What do you want?" If anyone's voice could grow thorns it would have been hers. She stared at him as he came closer, one of her hands still fisted around the headband. It could turn into her daggers at will and knowing Sebastian he'd probably do something to make her want to use them on him.

The sudden movement from the girl made him quickly take out his fork, transforming it to its original form--a huge celestial broadsword that gleamed in the darkness as Sebastian abruptly got himself into a fighting stance. His immediate change in position, however, shifted his standpoint and made him look at her in a different angle so that the ray of the moon hit her directly and cleared her identity to Sebastian when she had turned around to face him.
Gods… , he whispered in reverence, eyes widening slightly in awe as his mouth parted in surprise. Sebastian blinked a couple of times, wondering if he was now hallucinating as a result from his lack of sleep.
Shay du Rone.
The pale light shone on her beautiful face as her long dark hair fell and cascaded on her shoulders like waterfall when she took off her band, and whipped from her face as the wind blew it, making her look like some fiery angry goddess with her glittering silver eyes. The moon created an almost halo-like projection on the top of her head so that it gave her an unearthly divine appearance, and he stood there, stunned and shell-shocked into speechlessness. Sebastian couldn't believe that she was now standing there in front of him like he had conjured her straight out of his thoughts.
Slowly, he straightened up, lowering his sword and defenses when he changed his weapon back to its more convenient form. Sebastian wasn’t really the type to be easily unnerved, therefore, it bothered him a bit how the Athena Resident Leader can effortlessly take reign over his control. He’s usually the epitome of calmness. Maybe it was an Athena power?
Shaking his head a little to regain his trademark aloofness, he pocketed his fork in his jeans. Although it still troubled him, Sebastian supposed it does seem a little funny how easily Shay can make him lose his normal composure. He took another step forward, walking towards her while releasing a long pent-up breath from his lungs he didn’t realized he had been holding in.
Sebastian raised both brows upwards and gave a small wry smile when he, as he neared, saw her zipped up her jacket. Yep. It’s her, alright. No monster is comparable to both her beauty and madness. His guess was that she most likely hasn’t forgiven him yet for that little clothing incident that had happened at the flowerbed. He supposed he did deserve her hostility. What decent girl in her right mind would not feel anything but disdain to the guy who had almost gotten her killed and still managed to catch a glimpse out of her…uh…exposed self?
He frowned a little when he heard her arctic tone however, finding that couldn't helped himself get just a bit annoyed at that. It made him seem as if he had been stalking and had just been waiting for a chance to pounce on her. That was the farthest thing from the truth. Stopping when he reached an arm’s distance away from Shay, Sebastian folded his arms in displeasure, though his features showed none of his thoughts. “I was just here to get some air,” he said just as coldly, putting on his usual unaffected façade. “Last time I checked this beach was a free territory, Your Highness.” The last two words were said in a bored drawl as Sebastian stared indifferently, holding his gaze with hers as if in a challenge.

From the moment it appeared, Shay's attention was immediately caught and held hostage by the sight of the weapon in Sebastian's hands. It was a small blessing of sorts as it put to stop all those rather dreadful mental images of him holding out her bikini top to her. There was simply no room to dwell on the past, not when there was someone with his weapon out...someone standing in a very obvious fighting stance right in front of her. The part of Shay's mind that was always consumed by strategy kicked into gear.
Broadsword. Very large. Get inside his reach.
Throw one of the daggers once he gets within range. Hitting an artery in his leg will do. Femoral..Popliteal...
The palm of the hand holding her headband was starting to tingle lightly. Athena wasn't Ares or Enyo but she was a battle goddess in her own right and there was something in Shay's blood that sang with the anticipation of conflict. If a fight was what he wanted then he would get it. She was never one to shy away from a fight, anyone watching her in the arena would guess as much. So yes...when he did not attack and put his weapon away, Shay did feel a very noticeable pang of disappointment.
She pushed it aside though. She was no child of Ares and would not give in to that battle lust. Forcing her fingers to loosen their grip of her headband, Shay only settled on narrowing her eyes as Sebastian approached. To her, he was going in the wrong direction. She would have preferred it if he were to turn back towards campus or head down the beach...anything except move closer towards her. She didn't want company right now. More importantly, she didn't want his company. Looking at him brought back too many memories. Shay never took very well to being humiliated and she could hold a grudge like nobody's business.
As he stood there and crossed his arms over his chest, Shay gave him a deliberately slow and very disdainful once over. Her grey eyes were hooded but you could feel the contempt rolling off her in waves. If there was something else that she could do like nobody's business it was looking down her nose at someone...making them feel as if they should crawl back into the hole from whence they came and die there.
Shay looked altogether unimpressed when he called her 'Your Highness' in those mocking tones. Her free hand flicked dismissively through the air as if his words were just some bothersome fly that she wanted to swat away. "It is." She said evenly, though venom coated her words. "But as you can see it is a big stretch of beach and you can enjoy it while standing at some other point." After a moment's pause, Shay added. "Somewhere else." As if she were talking to someone who was mentally llamaed.
"You can either go left or right..I don't care. It just has to be away."

Most of the time, it had always been an easy job for Sebastian to keep up a cool appearance in front of everyone. But right now, as he observed Shay’s high-and-mighty demeanor and haughty tone, he couldn’t help the small frown and the slight furrowing of his brows that slowly crossed his features. Granted, it was he who had caused that slight mishap of her wardrobe malfunction, but he had tried to apologize to her. Even though that accident was certainly a wondrous moment worthy of celebration and praise, Sebastian certainly didn’t wish to cause her any embarrassment. He had even offered to heal her wounds, but she was just too darn stubborn for her own good. And it’s not like I kept the bikini top as a souvenir, he thought wryly. I did give back her thing.
Sebastian had acted as gentlemanly as he could towards the incident. He didn’t even stare at her…uh…pair for more than 5 minutes---even though the temptation had been great and that annoying devil on his shoulder had been egging him to just take another peek. He was a normal male. He was 18 years old. He has raging hormones. Shay has no idea how it had taken all of Sebastian’s willpower before to just look away from her exposed breasts. Course, she was probably more concerned of thinking him as a pervert during that time, but yeah.
Normally, he would have blushed at those lines of thought, but all hopes of that ever happening were squashed like a bug when Sebastian remembered that Shay was standing there in front of him now, giving him the most contemptuous glare she could manage. It was like being doused with a bucketful of cold water. Sebastian was a guy who could never understand girls, but Shay du Rone definitely belonged to a category of her own. For the short period that he had known her, she had managed to confuse and interest him all at the same time, baffling him with the ease of how she can do that without even breaking a sweat. It was kind of frustrating.
Studying her intently now, his eyes darker than its usual shade of blue, he thought that even though she was a daughter of Athena, the goddess of wisdom, she was still a female, and therefore, prone to irrationality. Yes, he knew a lot about dignity and pride, and he had expected this type of treatment from her, but right now her prickliness was causing his already sleep-deprived brain to ache more. It was two in the morning. Couldn’t she just give it a rest and allow them a moment of peace? Alright then. He narrowed his eyes. If that’s how she wants to play it.
“Well, tough luck on that.” Sebastian ran a hand through his dark disheveled hair as he walked past her, putting on unaffected airs as if he was ignoring what she had just said. He wouldn’t allow himself to be dismissed that easily by anyone, even if that someone was as beautiful as her. Sebastian is a guy. He was going to stand his ground. And if Shay thought that she can just walk all over him just because she was so damn attractive, then she’d better think twice. “Because I had decided…” He jumped nimbly and agilely so that he landed on top of the boulder that she had minutes ago been sitting on. Crossing his arms across his chest again as he looked down at her from his position, he slowly gave her a small annoying smirk. “To stay just right here.” Sebastian leaned forward, resting his chin on his knuckle.
“I guess you’ll just have to deal with that then, Princess.”

He. Was. Not. Leaving. Why was he not leaving?! Hadn't she told that he should be on his way? Hadn't she been very clear that he was to get lost if he knew what was good for him? If Shay's eyes were to narrow any further she would have had to shut them. Blocking out the sight of Sebastian Aiden at the moment would have probably been a good idea because it was making her blood boil. The boy just rubbed her the wrong way, and he seemed to have a knack for turning up and butting in at just exactly the wrong moment.
Thinking about how he had broken her concentration the last time they had met on the beach made her want to kick sand into his eyes. While that would seem an over the top reaction to some, Shay thought that it was highly justifiable. She had been on the verge of finally completing the flute solo which she had planned on dedicating to her mother. It had been her chance to have Athena look favorably upon her and he had ruined that because he had been careless enough and stupid enough to not look after his clothes. In a world where being acknowledged by one's immortal parent seemed to be the common, oftentimes only goal, Sebastian might has well have ripped her sheet music to shreds. It was the same thing as shattering her concentration.
The grip she had on her headband could now only be described as white knuckled. If anybody were still under the delusion that it was just a normal accessory, they would have been wondering why the headband hadn't snapped under all the pressure she was applying. Of course it wasn't just a normal headband and it's form shimmered under Shay's hold as if it couldn't decide which shape it's mistress wanted it to take. Mostly this was tied to the fact that Shay could not decide if he was giving her enough of a reason to stab him. She certainly did not like the fact that he was refusing to leave and that went doubly so for the way he was looking at her. But it wasn't enough. If he had been just another Apollo student perhaps, but Shay had found out that he was Apollo's Residence leader (no accounting for taste or talent there) and so could not rip him a new hole without more of a reason. Angry as Shay was, she had enough presence of mind to not drag her entire residence into a personal quarrel.
She stiffened as he moved past her, shooting a glance at the sky as if to ask the gods for help or maybe a stray thunderbolt or three. Shay could not help but wonder if that crazy Pegasus of his would be making an appearance. Gods...she really hoped not. She did not need another crazy/annoying thing to deal with. Taking her attention off the havens, Shay let out something of a soft growl as she realized he had jumped onto the rock she had been sitting on. It was silly to feel possessive of a boulder but that was what Shay was feeling now.
Oh? She'd just have to deal with his being here did she? A blank look dropped over Shay's features as a strange feeling of calmness stole over her. The calm before the idea. The calm before the storm. The headband in her hand became just another girly accessory once more and slowly she put it on her head though the gesture was more like a warrior unsheathing his sword.
"Fine." With quick, purposeful steps she walked over to the boulder and Sebastian. She hated the way he was looking down on her at the moment and thought that she would equalize the playing field somewhat. "If that's your decision..." With those words, Shay was up on the rock with him. She had an entire childhood of gymnastics classes at her beck and call so Shay found her balance in no time. She deliberately put herself in his face, invading is personal space...all but touching him really. "I guess we'll have to share the rock."

Sebastian stood unmovingly his ground, with arms crossed on his chest, on the boulder like some Spanish conquistador who had discovered a new world. He still wasn’t really sure why he had stayed. It wasn’t in his nature to be luring trouble or stoking fire, and he doesn’t know why he wasn’t able to just let this go and back down, when he should have moments ago walked someplace else or had head back to the Apollo residence.
Sebastian’s cerulean eyes followed Shay’s every movement amusedly, waiting for her next reaction as though he was expecting her to get unnerved by his out-of-character arrogance. He thought that she would rather give up and find somewhere else to go, but she had surprised him when she leapt effortlessly and landed atop the boulder directly in front of him, her face so close although they weren't touching. Shay’s defiant streak had clearly risen to the surface, and his pupils widened in astoundment like a deer caught on headlights. Like their first meeting at the beach, the thought of how he towered over her by a head and yet she looking every bit as intimidating as a Fury crossed his mind. Her effect on him was always the same. Rendering him speechless, Shay was always more than capable of making him discard from his head every bit of rational thought.
It wasn’t lost on Sebastian how close she was that he can see the way how her sooty lashes fan and cast half-moon shadows across her alabaster cheeks. How her almond-shaped eyes glinted like quicksilver under the lunar light. How that familiar faint vanilla/strawberry scent wafted in the air and teased his nostrils. How her pink lips moved almost hypnotizingly as she said some words that didn’t make any sense at all to him. He stared at her, stunned, looking as if he was under some sort of magical spell as the sight of her raced towards his eyes and became, just for a moment, the center of his turning world.
The whole scenery spun around and everything paled into insignificance except her. Only her.
Tormented, he took a small step backwards to put some distance between them. Her nearness was making him heady and was threatening to suffocate him. Torn by emotions and conflicted with the way he was thinking, he slightly shook his head to clear his thoughts. Sebastian frowned at his momentary lack of awareness, silently berating himself for having lost in thoughts over a girl. This close proximity should no longer continue as it was proving to have a clouding effect on his judgment.
Sebastian was a quiet solitary guy who don’t fancy the limelight and the endless scrutiny of the public. People usually either leave him alone or are intimidated by his presence because he had always seemed so darn unapproachable. He was too aloof. Too indifferent. Too stoic. Too hard to read.
Most would find his silence unnerving. But not her. Definitely not her. Looking at him now with frosty ash-colored eyes, she looked every inch the Athena Resident Leader she is. Capable and Undaunted. Haughty and Proud.
Yet he could stop himself from wishing that for once, she’d look at him. Really look at him. But that was a fool’s hope. Shay was blind to whatever this was that Sebastian felt for her, and that terribly annoyed the hell out of him. He was painfully conscious of the icy dismissal in her eyes. Of how she gives off the impression that he was not worthy of her time and interest. He knew she thought low of him. That she thinks he was way beneath her. He could see it in the way her glare would turn steely and cool. Hear it in the poison of her voice. Sebastian was already confused with the whole ambiguity and inner turmoil she had caused in him. It would have been a little more than helpful if she would at least show something that he had made some effect on her too other than disdain.
He swallowed hard and took another step backwards. Unfortunately, he miscalculated his steps and he lost his balance, slipping back as he reflexively tried to clutch at the air or something to make him stop from falling. A momentary feeling of hope rose in his chest when his hands finally took hold at something. What he didn’t expect was that the “something” he had grabbed hold on to was Shay’s arm.
There was a brief fleeting moment when he saw exactly what was about to happen. He even managed to capture the mixture of surprise and panic reflected in the arresting shade of mercury of her eyes when they were floating in the air and her body finally collided with his as they fell on the ground. He was the one that had directly hit the earth but was glad that he cushioned her fall. Though not a particularly hard drop, the boulder was high enough, and he ached from the impact, groaning a bit as he tried to move and then stopped as a realization dawned.
Shay was pressed inappropriately against Sebastian, together, both of them, a heap of bodies and a tangle of limbs on the sand. He tried to think of something else except for the fact that she was lying down on him, the warmth of her skin seeping through their clothes and into his own skin. Closing his eyes as he concentrated on just breathing and trying to calm down the loud, frantic pounding of his heart, which he was pretty sure she could feel considering how he was squashed underneath her, it was taking all of his control not to tremble.
She was close. So damn close, he could feel every curve of her slender body molding into his lean frame.
It was the Pegasus ride all over again, but this time, he was closer to her than ever before. Their eyes met and held, but only because Sebastian could not look away. He was drawn to those luminescent pools of silver like moth to a flame, and the sensation was almost overwhelming.
His body, which was freezing earlier from the cold morning sea breeze, warmed instantaneously as he felt her on top. Every fiber of his being sang at her touch--- at the feel of her so very close, it was almost intimate. Sebastian muttered an audible curse in the way for the sinful effects it had on his hormonal, teenage self. His heart raced even more erratically. It did not help that she had been fully leaning against him either, nor that their faces had been so near that one would almost think they had been about to kiss. He lay still, senses heightened to their very pinnacle. Sebastian had always thought (in utmost secrecy) that Shay du Rone was strikingly beautiful, but now, with her face just inches from his own, he wondered how the gods had created someone so incredibly stunning. He was very aware of each exhale of her breath lightly strike his cheek and he drank in her breath as he gasped for air, his eyes seemingly narrowing in on her lips--- those full, impossibly soft looking lips just tempting to be kissed--- and he ached just looking at them. Would they be as velvety as they appeared? Sebastian dreamed for a brief moment how it would feel like. How it would taste like. His throat became as dry as the desert as he imagined about this. What was he supposed to say to her?
He looked at her, his usually emotionless blue eyes filled with concern with just the faintest hint of torture that he had been trying so hard to hide. Instinctively, Sebastian reached out a hand to tuck the stray strands of hair that fell over her face behind an ear, and he marveled at how soft her dark tresses feel under the touch of his fingers. Softly, he whispered, “Are you alright?,” wondering afterwards how he had managed to make his voice sound so controlled when he was anything but. He could only thank whoever god it was that heard his silent prayer of granting him the strength to not sound shaky and unstable.
It seemed as if that instant had lasted forever before Sebastian finally closed his eyes shut as if in a pained manner, trying to avoid looking at Shay. He knew that a deep flush had stained his cheeks by now and he made a small grunt of frustration as he let his head dropped back on the ground with a thud.
It was hopeless. Sebastian was trapped. Ensnared by the net of his own making. Unable and unwilling to break free whatever chains that she had somehow gotten round him.
But he also knew that this was stupid. He shouldn’t be this unsettled, and that he seriously needed to stop this nonsense. Even before Sebastian sensed it, he had already predicted what her reaction would be. It was only a matter of moments now.
He braced himself.
Muse: Hurting. Notes: I’m sorry.

Ideas, strategy came as easily as breathing to Shay. There had always been, and would always be a part of her that would look at any given situation and immediately plot out a way to have the outcome fall in her favor. It was just one of the perks at having Athena for a mother and Shay would be the first to coolly state that it was the most important perk. Above having a mental link with her mother's sacred animal, above being well versed in hand to hand combat, the power of the mind was what Shay prized the most. It was certainly the gift that she used most often but it was, undeniably, a double edged sword on account of the fact that she was half mortal.
The Bad Idea was not something that was alien to Shay. Her pride and her ego would not let her admit it out loud but in the privacy of her own mind Shay knew that sometimes her decisions were poor. That from time to time she would let her own emotions get the better of her. As she stood on that boulder and glared into Sebastian's face, Shay realized that she had let the Bad Idea get the best of her again. Why exactly had she stepped up here? If she had wanted to put him in his place, surely the best way to have done that would have been to walk away from him. He was an overgrown brat. Abandoning him with a well placed comment, something that would allude to his childishness, would have sufficed.
Shay hated what ifs with a passion however and dismissed those thoughts, relegating them to the back of her mind. She had gotten herself into this mess and she would get herself out of it. As usual Sebastian wasn't helping in the least. The meat head had gone silent. It would have at least given her something to do if he had carried on being an arrogant smart mouth. It would have been slightly entertaining to come up with barbs to throw right back in his face. 'Did you bite off more then you could chew?' Shay thought at him, her grey eyes sparking with new-found impatience. She certainly hoped that he would not just stand there all night looking as if he had been hit in the head with something. Shay was about to open her mouth to give voice to the question that she was currently thinking when Sebastian moved and promptly lost his balance.
It happened too quickly for her to react. She could not evade his hand as it snapped out to grab hold of her. The words that she had been planning to say turned into a yelp as he tumbled from the boulder and dragged her along with him. It was not a long drop by any means but falling was never a pleasant experience. Though it was over quickly, Shay could not decide if having her face pressed into Sebastian's chest was better then having it pressed into the sand. For a moment she tried to get her bearings back but every time she inhaled, Shay could not avoid taking in his scent. If sunlight had a smell then this would be it. This was another thought that Shay dismissed quickly to the back of her mind. She had no business noticing what he smelled like, much less try to put a name to it. Looking up though, she met his gaze and stilled.
It would have been so much easier if he had said something awfully flirtatious at this point. In fact she was already frowning in the anticipation of it. Zeus knew that his brother Keller would have run his mouth already. But instead, there was more silence and Shay despite herself noticed that there was something in the depths of his eyes. Something that she recognize and even remembered seeing. 'It was that last time at the beach...' At that time she had thought she had caught a look at something under his posturing. Something that was interesting...
The brush of his fingers in her hair sent Shay jolting out of those thoughts. Her hair band had been knocked backwards in the fall she could only guess at what a rat's nest her hair had become. Still, he was touching her and he was finally speaking...Those simple words made Shay see red though. Her eyes narrowed as a stream of biting remarks started to make it's way up her wind pipe. She wanted to yell at him. And she wanted to knock him down onto the sand again.
Hold your tongue! And that thought came from the gift that Shay prized above all the other ones that her mother had given her. Stop being angry at him. The more you two fight, the more embarrassing things get and somehow or rather you'll loose your top again! So shut up! Do not yell at him! Shay shut her mouth with a little snap. This time she was given a chance to save herself from indulging in another Bad Idea and Shay would take it. You had to keep on learning on the path of wisdom after all.
Snatching the head band off her head, she scooted backwards and off Sebastian. "I'm fine." Just because she wasn't going to yell at him, it didn't mean that she wasn't pissed off enough to keep her answers curt. Shay moved until she felt the boulder press up against her back. Having nowhere else to go, she opted to lean back against it to try to relax. Going back to her residence still seemed too much like running away and Shay decided that she would stay right here. Tipping her head back, she stared into the night sky, this time praying to the Gods to grant her the patience to be civil towards him.
"Are you experiencing insomnia as well?" Her tone was still cold and looked as if it would not be thawing out anytime soon. But if you took the time to compare it to how she had been talking to him earlier, it would seem positively sunny. "Or did you need to get away because Foster snores enough for five people?" Not that she had tried to sleep anywhere near Keller in her life, but he had fallen asleep once in the Mass Hall and lets just say that he had made Shay loose her appetite with all the 'bloort bloort and glurg glurg glurg' noises that he had made.

The silence that stretched on forever was the loudest sound Sebastian had heard in his whole life. The soft crashing of the waves in the shore, the even rhythm of their mingled breaths in the small space between their faces were all lost on him, as the only thing that mattered at that instant was that Shay was staring back. For one brief moment, he thought he had seen hesitation in those silvery orbs, but that could only be his wishful thinking. It didn’t help too that his heart was hammering wildly as if it was trying to escape from his ribcage, and the noise it was making was drowning out everything else around. Maybe I was wrong, he thought, hope rising in his chest uncontrollably. Maybe this time, she won’t detest me.
No sooner had he thought this, however, when her eyes flashed that familiar stormy gray. She had immediately stood up and backed away from him as if he was some kind of leper, and a huge wave of disappointment suddenly washed over him, surprising even Sebastian himself. He found out that he greatly missed her nearness, the warmth of her body, the soft feel of her skin; and that the icy cold breeze that enveloped him instead in her place wasn’t doing a very good job of making him forget how she had fitted perfectly against him. Standing up as calmly as he could, he brushed off the sands that clung to his clothes, all the while trying to school his features into its usual emotionless mask. He was stalling, he knew, but he couldn’t risk the chance of being studied and found out by those probing, intelligent eyes of an Athena child. Especially, this one. The Resident Leader. She was proud and precocious and self-absorbed, a lethal combination with her beauty. He decided Shay’s the type not to think twice in tearing him apart, and Sebastian, really not in the mood for a fight, opted not to tempt the Fury by giving her any sign of weaknesses.
He knew about her. Or at least, glimpsed a little about her character. Sebastian had casually asked Joelle, that evening after the beach incident, everything she had heard about Miss du Rone. Mostly, it was about personality and background and stuff, and although he had strong suspicion that his best friend could see right through him, Sebastian had pretended that it was just because of curiosity, nothing special, that he had inquired out-of-the-blue about the Athena girl. Joelle had the nose of a bloodhound, like Autumn, that darn dog that was always following the Hades camper everywhere she goes; and despite the fact that her perceptiveness can be useful, it sometimes annoys Sebastian when she uses it on him. He couldn’t help thinking that maybe she gets a sick kick out of making him uneasy with those all-knowing looks. He would have gotten away with it too with his straight face, if his stupid cheeks didn’t choose that moment to redden in front of a grinning Joelle. Sebastian recalled mock coughing and mumbling something about allergies. Lucky for him, though, she chose to drop the subject after that.
When he had finally made up his mind that he had done enough brushing, Sebastian straightened up and looked at Shay, his ice blue eyes that were seconds ago uncertain, now, impassive and frosty. He was still fighting that inner turmoil of chaos and confusion, but he wasn’t going to face her and show her that anytime soon. At the present, she was leaning back against that boulder they had been on earlier, and though she was still radiating hostility towards him, he could tell it was an improvement from before.
And then she had to go mention his brother, and Sebastian suddenly felt it hard to breathe. How could he have forgotten? Here he was, thinking all sorts of things he shouldn’t be thinking about Keller’s ex-girlfriend and little by little, smashing the bro code into tiny pieces. What is it with this girl that makes him act incessantly so out of character? Normally, he was quiet and reserved, always in top fighting form with an excellent memory. But with her… With her, he is unfocused and clumsy, a magnet for trouble too, being absentminded all the time. It was as if she had bewitched him under some sort of spell, so that all of his attention, all of his awareness, was always centered on her, making him lose all ability to think straight.
Cursing himself inwardly for forgetting that she had been most likely involved with his half-brother, he swallowed the painful lump in his throat, wondering why he was feeling a pang of misery. It was kind of ironic to think that Keller had been the one always pushing him to be with girls, most of the time, playing matchmaker to an unwilling and unenthusiastic Sebastian.
And yet, here he was.
Unequivocally interested in a girl he was supposedly hands-off to.
A bit guiltily, he thought, How the heck did I get myself into this mess?. Sebastian jammed cold hands into his back pockets and felt the bracelet in there. Slowly, he took it out, his fist closed tight around it. Their break-up probably was a messy one, considering how it seemed as if she was still holding a grudge. Sebastian supposed his relation with Keller was something that was making Shay disdainful of Sebastian. He tried to block out the images of Keller sleeping soundly and Shay watching him with adoring eyes as she lay beside him, and although there was some part of him that refuses to believe that she was the type of girl who’d easily fall for his brother’s flirting, he couldn’t explain the sudden tightening of his throat, or the throbbing ache in his chest at that thought.
Sebastian walked towards her, careful to keep his cool composure on. When the distance between them was only an arm’s length away, he stopped and slowly opened his palm to show her the thin silvery band with the amethysts and charms on it. It was an unspoken request of May I?, but he didn’t bother waiting for an answer. Taking her wrist with his other hand, he felt a slight shock of electricity run through his spine at the first contact of their skin. He didn’t flinch, however, for the feeling was Heavenly. Familiar. Divine. He could feel her pulse beat against his fingertips as he held her hand steady in front of them. Maybe what he doing was just an excuse to touch her, to feel her again, but Sebastian tried to convince himself that all he wanted was just to return to her the bracelet that she had lost.
“You and Keller probably had some history together…,” Sebastian began, trying to find the words how to explain how he was feeling. It was hard since he was never good with words, and he concentrated instead on his actions, keeping his eyes on her hand rather than meet her stare. “And he probably broke your heart… “ He took his time encircling around her slender wrist the bracelet. “But I’m not my brother. And I didn’t break your heart.” The clasp locked with a soft snap.
Letting out a huge exhale, as if to calm his ragged nerves, Sebastian finally got himself to look into Shay’s eyes. “I’m sorry.”
He had a serious expression on, but he didn’t know what he was apologizing for. The Pegasus ride? The Fall? What she had with Keller? Maybe it was everything, he couldn’t be sure. He just knew that an apology had been long overdue.
A lot had been done already.
Finished.
Ended.
Like that clasping of the bracelet a few seconds ago.
Funny how even until now, he still hasn’t let go of her hand.
Music: Collide by Howie Day Muse: … I’m quiet, you know. You make a first impression. Notes: The bracelet was found after the first beach thread. When Chiron made him clean the flowerbed.

Knowing full well that the sight of him would tempt her into further irrationality, Shay kept her gaze locked onto the havens above them. Silently, she prayed to the Gods for patience, appealing to her mother in particular to grant her a measure of clear-headedness so that she could navigate through this situation without being plagued by anymore Bad Ideas. But that was the extent of her petition. Shay knew that Athena looked kindly upon those of her children who could create that spark of ingenuity and think their way out of problems on their own after all, and she would strive to achieve this no matter how much silliness Sebastian Aiden would put her through. Shay transferred her gaze from starry skies to annoying boy and narrowed her eyes as she watched him brush sand off his person. The more she watched him, the more it occurred to Shay that he was taking much too long to get himself cleaned up. Those specks of dust had crossed into the borders of the imagination now and it hit Shay that he was doing the same thing that she had done just minutes before. He was trying to regain his composure. With that much obvious to her now, Shay had to wonder why this was so. The suspicious part of Shay was ready to supply that he was probably trying to think up a way to embarrass and unsettle her yet again. He was so very good at that. Whatever she did, his response would always be inexplicably whacky. Potentially life threatening (like that ride on Loopy the crazy Pegusus) or just plain silly (like the tumble off the boulder just minutes before) but it always lead to them having some kind of physical contact, not to mention her loosing certain articles of clothing. That's because he's a perv! That suspicious part raged, though by this time Shay felt like she was watching her anger from behind a plexi glass wall instead of actually feeling it. That argument had it's merits but a larger part of Shay did not entirely agree with it. He had not attempted to flirt with her or say anything lewd after both instances for one thing. And whatever it was that she had seen in his eyes...Shay blinked when Sebastian finally looked up. Well, she wouldn't get to see that emotion again, whatever it was. There was only impassiveness in those blue depths now and as she continued to meet his gaze, Shay suddenly felt very tired. It would have been so much simpler if Sebastian was like Keller, who's intentions were always clearly spelled out. But this Apollo boy was hard to read and it didn't help that he had a hidden side to him that had Shay's curious side piqued. It wasn't enough to stop her from feeling those pangs of exhaustion though. It was a little ironic how he was always an obstacle whenever she wanted to retreat back to her residence Shay remembered that this had happened as well during their last encounter and like that last encounter she felt emotionally sapped. Her pride was unhappy that she was running away from him again, but Shay didn't think that she could stand another minute of this. Besides, he had fallen silent again and they were really in danger of spending the entire night staring at each other like hurt children. She was about to open her mouth though and frostily excuse herself when he pulled something out of his pocket. Moonlight caught the trinket in his hand, making it glitter. Shay however, did not need that effect the object. She would have known it anywhere. Her bracelet! The one she had lost after that horrible Pegasus ride. It stood to reason that she would have dropped it near the Apollo residence but what were the chances of Sebastian being the one to pick it up? Shay's tongue darted out a little as she licked her bottom lip. She wanted to ask him why it had taken him this long to give the bracelet back to her but it seemed as if Sebastian had finally found his voice. Trouble was, he was saying things that just did not make sense. Her...and Keller...had a thing? Well, that was certainly news to Shay. He had moved closer to her and while she normally would not let him touch her, Shay was just too surprised with that he was saying to actually pull herself out of his hold. Did Sebastian Aiden have some sort of mental illness? Where in the world did he come up with the idea that she and Keller Foster were or had been an item? Shay continued to stare at him and for the first time her gaze wasn't filled with anger or disdain or impatience. Instead it as was lightning up with something akin to amusement. By the time he got to the part where Keller had broken her heart, Shay was pressing her lips together to keep from laughing. Keller Foster had broken her heart? He wished! He was lucky she hadn't broken his legs with all those lewd and transparent advances of his! The mental images of her and Keller dating were too much though and once she let a giggle escape her there was no stopping the stream of laughter. "Oh gods!" She exclaimed, as she tried to muffle her reaction by covering her mouth with her free hand. "We..we.." She couldn't talk, she was too busy laughing, though it should be noted that there was nothing mocking in the sound. She was not a girl who was easily moved to mirth but Sebastian's speech had startled this reaction out of her. She didn't know exactly how he had come to this conclusion but for once a blunder on his part didn't make her want to strangle him. It didn't make her want to hug him though but laughter transformed her, making her eyes light up and her features soften. Shay looked like a living breathing girl for once and not like one carved out of ice. "We..never dated." Her voice came out sounding muffled since she still had her hand pressed against her mouth. Taking in a deep breath to calm the giggles, that tried to be stern but only came off looking bemused and more then a little puzzled. "I would not date anyone as crass as Keller Foster. When you think about it, we have nothing in common. He's a clown for one thing and thinks he's very funny when he isn't. So as far as compatibility goes there is none, or at least it's in the negative range." She sounded like a snob or at least someone who didn't care in the least that they were belittling a family member of the person they were talking to. And since this was Shay she really sounded like she was giving Sebastian a lecture. "True, you may say that there are different types of compatibility and that no one is perfectly compatible with their partner but in Keller's case there is no common ground. Not socially, not educationally and certainly our personalities clash..." She paused but any one with half a brain knew that this was just the calm before the storm. Nothing really could stop Shay when she was about to launch into a lecture. Word count: 1265 Muse: Keeps getting distracted...*playfully swats at distraction. You know who you are * Notes: Yes..she won't stop talking unless you shut her up..

At first he didn’t realize that he was blankly staring, eyebrows raised at her in incredulity. If outsiders were to look at him now, they’d probably point their fingers and double up at the comical expression on his face. Sebastian was just there, ridiculously standing, holding her hand still, and looking like a stupid bewildered idiot at her laughing. The way she was weirdly acting made him think that maybe that previous fall had affected her head more than he had initially thought. But then again, all girls were crazy. He was clueless around them, and never in his life had he seem to figure out what they were thinking. Even now, when he thought back on his words, he wondered if there was anything amusing in what he said or in the way he said it, since it was clearly causing her to break out in hysterics. It took almost all of his patience not to cross his arms and ask her outright what the heck was so funny.
Of course, it wasn’t missed on him how different she was at the present from her usual icy self. Her trademark granite eyes were softened, completely transforming her demeanor into something almost innocent and childlike, and Sebastian found out that he was most fascinated with this new Shay. If it was possible, it made her look even more beautiful. Her sparkling eyes and musical laughter was dazzling. The way she smiled was bright enough to light up the entire New York City for a day. Seeing this side of her almost made him feel like he was witnessing something rare and phenomenal, and it didn’t help much too how the heavenly rays tricked his eyes and made her look as if she was bathed in pure moonlight, the glow of her skin causing her to appear almost ethereal.
Then she started talking in breathy gasps in between all her giggles, and a small uncharacteristic frown made its way to his features. She was amused, yes, and he was glad that she wasn’t her normal chilly self, but the way she was laughing was almost humiliating. Heat rose to his cheeks for realizing that he had assumed wrong and for her rubbing it in his face. Here he was, earnestly apologizing and she still didn’t even take him seriously. It was bad enough that he had trusted himself to wear his heart out for that brief moment, but to have his sorry flung back accompanied by fits of almost mocking laughter? That was just shaming. True, he felt something akin to relief when she said that there had been nothing going on between her and Keller. And then something else too. Hope? Longing? Sebastian had pushed it away far too quickly before he had the chance to know what it was, telling himself that he shouldn’t even bother. He had already poured his guts out, and look where it got him.
Sebastian was an aloof and distant guy, and he keeps to himself most of the time. But that doesn’t mean that he will allow himself to be pushed around by anyone. Especially by this girl. Just because he had been tolerant with her, doesn’t give her the right to let her think otherwise. She may know a lot about pride, but he believes he could still teach her a thing of two on that. One of which is that he also has one that could rival her own.
He hadn’t realized that he was tightly gripping her wrist. Nor was conscious that he was standing so stiffly, he almost looked like a marble statue. Though he had on his composed self, it was a bit clear that he was irritated at her reaction from the way his eyes were turning into a arctic shade of cobalt blue now. Inwardly cursing for putting his defenses down and letting himself be duped into saying those things earlier, he roughly yanked her before dropping her hand and took one step forward, nearing the distance between them. He felt her collide against his chest, momentarily giving him a small sense of satisfaction, yet he promptly ignore it. Sebastian then spread his hands and placed them palms flat on the boulder behind Shay, his arms straightened on either side of her head, a makeshift cage. He had allowed a very small space between them, both practically touching, but not really.
He was near enough to look closely and see that her ash-colored irises from afar really had some flecks of blue in them. He remembered how he once was curious if the reason why the goddess Athena had grey eyes was because of her Objectivity. Wisdom wasn’t right or wrong. Grey was neither black nor white. Both of them just are. He didn’t know why but Sebastian suddenly felt happy knowing that Shay didn’t have eyes of pure silver. That color made her too definite and categorized, and he wasn’t sure he liked that much. Mentally shaking the thought away, he instantly scowled and wondered why he even cared. She just insulted him. He should keep himself focused on that and not let his mind wander to other things.
Leaning forward and staring down at her, Sebastian brought his face closer, ice blue orbs glinting coldly in the moonlight. “Listen…” he started, gritting his teeth as if he was restraining himself, “If you weren’t acting like a scorned lover in the first place, there wouldn’t have been any reason for anyone to think like that.” Every word was coated in frost, his voice low and dangerous, like he was nearing the end of his patience. He glued his glare to her eyes, knowing that if he dropped it, it’d fall to her lips, and annoyed as he was, there was still a voice somewhere at the back of his mind that screams Shay was very much a girl. And an attractive one at that too.
“Maybe next time, to avoid confusion, you can tone your hostility down a notch, Princess?”
There was no mistaking it.
It wasn’t a request. It was an order.

It did not escape Shay that the whole situation had taken a turn toward irony as soon as Sebastian had appeared. She had been mentally grumbling about how boring the Academy had become and since then had taken a tumble off a boulder and been the victim of a multitude of emotions (from severe irritation to amusement)that this boy managed to inspire in her. She had been hoping for just a drop of the interesting earlier in the night...well 'be careful what you wished for' that was the phrase that came to mind now. Still.. it felt good to laugh and that was exactly what Shay did. Leaning against the boulder she was practically doubled over with laughter and did not see that her reaction had caused Sebastian to frown.
Keller Foster and herself as...an item?! The very idea of it was ridiculous. Wait till Vesper hears about this one, Shay had no doubt that her friend would be just as amused as she was at the moment. In fact it was probably a joke that they'd never get tied off. It was at this point that Shay attempted to swallow the giggles and thank Sebastian for the laugh in that usually snooty way of hers. Looking at him now she hadn't realized that he was still keeping a hold on her wrist. And he wasn't just holding it now, he was squeezing it. That very gesture was enough to kill any lingering humor of of the situation. All laughter drained from Shay's expression and when she opened her mouth it was to voice out an indignant,
"HEY!" Her voice was loud enough to cut across the silence of the beach. But Shay refused to wince and the pain that she was feeling had to be translated somehow. It made her angry though that she could not hide it and decided to focus on that instead of the feel of his fingers digging into her wrist. And then he was yanking her, pushing her against the boulder and Shay felt herself snarl at him at the indignity. What was his problem?! Glaring at him, Shay could see the spots of color on his high cheekbones and realized that her laughter had embarrassed him. Well....so what?! If he hadn't pushed her Shay would probably have felt just a small pang of remorse at laughing at him but all hope of that was gone now. You did not touch Shay du Rone without her permission, man handling her like this was unthinkable. "You idiot!" She hissed him like an angry cat would have, her grey eyes like chips of ice as she continued to glare at him. They were both angry, she could see that but she also thought that it was entirely his fault for being so stupid. "You deserve to be laughed at." Shay continued mercilessly. "What kind of an idiot would think that I would ever lower myself to be Foster's girlfriend?" She held herself ram rod straight, forcing herself not to even glace at her wrist though the skin there was tingling and felt tender from where he had yanked her. "You think that's the reason why I'm so hostile toward you? Stop making excuses for how dumb you act weakling!"
Harsh. But once again, Sebastian had managed to piss Shay off. It was almost funny how he could make her emotions swing like that. She would have wondered about it had she not been so upset.
"Back off." Shay refused to push at him, thinking that that would make her look desperate. If he thought that his tone carried a command, then hers matched him in that sentiment. "Right now, or so help me..." Shay wasn't certain about what sh would do but she was still carrying her headband and they could still transform into daggers if need be.

She was yelling.
And yelling.
And yelling.
And yelling too damn much.
Sebastian glared angrily at her, letting his eyes rake all over Shay's face flushed in indignation. He felt as if every word coming out from her was making his ears bleed. He had not even understood what she was saying now, because the ruckus she was making and the noise of his pounding blood were drowning out everything else around them. It was a miracle the harpies weren't rushing out to get them yet. She was totally insane and if this keeps up, both of them were going to get into a lot of trouble.
Seething with pent-up frustration, Sebastian did the only thing he could do to make her stop.
He kissed her.
Sebastian didn't exactly know how it had happened. Or even why it had happened. He just found himself half-relieved that she had ceased yapping, and half-shocked, frozen in place with his mouth closed over hers.
The reaction was immediate. His mind went completely blank. Every bit of what remaining thought he had, flew just right out of the window, and the only thing that remained was the awareness of her. They must have stayed like that for a minute, just stunned and stiffened, while the world around them stopped and time stood still.
He could say that what he just did was reflex. An idiotic one, but a reflex nonetheless. He tried to make excuses for it. She was too loud... He snapped... Still, the kiss burned through him, engraving it on his mind so that he couldn't think of anything else but her. It was like being spellbound. Enchanted. Bewitched. Maybe it was because in his eighteen years of life, she was the first one he'd ever kissed. Or maybe it was something else...
She had such incredibly soft lips--- butter soft and warm--- and Sebastian found himself curious and a little excited to feel more of that. Somewhere at the back of his mind, a voice yelled for him to pull back before it's too late, but he, lost in the torrent of emotions, promptly ignored it, choosing instead to close his eyes and breathe in the air she was breathing in.
The moment he did that, his arms slowly dropped to her waist, snaking them around her, pulling her closer to him so that he could also feel every curve, every valley of her body.
For someone who has never kissed before, Sebastian didn't know how he had instinctively knew what to do. He was hesitant at first, treading unfamiliar grounds slowly and unsurely as he moved his lips over hers. Gods, she tastes damn good... He could feel his body humming, heat running white-hot through his veins. Soon, he was gaining confidence, gently coaxing her mouth to open for him.
Shay du Rone tasted like strawberries and vanilla and wine.
Sweet. Intoxicating. Addicting.
She tasted like the Dawn's first dew. Or the Spring's first bloom after a cold winter. Or hot cocoa by the window during a long thunderstorm. Like a drop of rain in a scorching desert. Or a lungful of air to a drowning man.
She tasted like a hundred thousand million stars exploding, filling up every dark corner of his universe.
She tasted like heaven.
Even Apollo in all his greatness could not...would not be able to describe with his poetry what Sebastian felt in that single kiss.
And it felt right.
Perfect.
Like a puzzle fit.
But the nagging voice that he had put to the back of his mind suddenly leapt out and slashed through the cloud of haze he was experiencing, asking him in a thunderous manner what the hell was he doing. Sebastian blinked and pulled back, dropping his gaze for a second as he tried to get his own wildly beating pulse to slow down. When he looked back up, his stare was icy and indifferent.
"The last time we met you said you'll die if you'll let me touch you." He let his hand move to the underside of her left breast while his other hand stayed wrapped around her, resting on the small of her back.
"Your heart's still beating, Princess."
Muse: Had to be sedated because it was so excited. Notes: Long time coming. Sorry it took quite a while. Had my favorite distraction. ;D

Whatever reaction Shay had been expecting from Sebastian, it certainly wasn't this kiss. It would have been better if he had yelled at her instead, provoking her into a war of words or if he had just stormed off to leave her in peace. What he did next, invading her personal space and then pressing his mouth to hers did not only come out from left field but was audacious as well. For a moment, Shay simply stood still in shock. Her eyes were bugging out of her head and she looked simply ridiculous. She should have pushed him away right there and then but his arms snaked up around her waist and he was deepening the kiss and yes..even if she would never admit it, a tiny bit of her kissed back.
It was truly the moment of madness during the course of the evening. His kissing her threw everything else that he had ever done into the category of silly and forgivable (stress on the latter) In an unprecedented first, Shay was still too stunned to speak when he finally broke the kiss and pulled away. She would have been the one to run away then, had he not said those spiteful words. If there was one thing Shay couldn't stand was someone throwing her words back into her face, and in a condescending manner as well.
She smacked his hand away from her. "Your kiss might has well have put me to sleep!" She raged, glaring daggers at him. Shay fought the urge to not spit as it was really uncouth but she could not stop herself from doing so. She spat, and wiped her mouth with her right sleeve. There was something about him that made all her bad habits come to life and wreck havoc. "You should learn a thing or two about personal space." Shay continued growling, "Because if you do that a second time, I won't let you off that easily." Shay flounced away though as if she couldn't take one more second of his company though truth be told, she didn't want to let him see how shaken up she really was.

Sebastian stared after Shay, his body rigid and spine ramrod straight, like he was posed to attack. She had spat on his jacket and told him off, and for that, he was seething with much annoyance. His knuckles turned white as he tightly formed fists with his hands. But what maddened him the most was that the kiss burned still on his lips, searing into his brain, and making a mark on his whole being. It was an experience like he'd never had, and it angered and elated and delighted and annoyed him all at the same time. Uncomfortable. Uneasy. And yet thoroughly fascinated. How it made him feel was confusing, and it wasn't a feeling he was familiar with. The Athena girl turned him upside down and jarred his equilibrium, and now everything for him was out of place. He couldn't understand it.
Unconciously, he raised a finger to touch his mouth, brushing lightly with his fingerpad his lower lips. He remembered how she had tasted like and how she had responded to him, and he smiled. Somehow, the memory made him warm all over, bringing a flush to his already reddened cheeks. He dropped his guarded stance and pocketed his hands into his pockets, staring into the sea's horizon, a soft thoughtful look crossing his features. The gentle breeze played with his hair, tumbling them away from his face as he waited for the sun to rise. He could feel the tides of change turn and knew that something was different now...
It must have been hours that had passed before Sebastian finally moved away from his standing point and headed back to camp.
