Personality: Lance grew up a very strong person, physically speaking. His step-father, Ephraim would make Lance work-out with him every day he was back home, so he has a very muscular build for a 19 year old. This intimidates people but if one actually tries to get to know him, Lance’s the type of guy you can always talk to. He has his reckless side, of course, which often gets him into trouble.
Lance can be thick-headed and stubborn at times but is dependable and always ready to rush into any situation to help someone in need, even if it may not be the best course of action. Lance is a natural fighter and prides himself in his strength. Surprisingly, despite his larger build, he’s actually very light on his feet, which makes him a force to be reckoned with.
He enjoys the company of many of the other campers, despite their quirks. He has been there longer than many of the other campers and tries to help the newer recruits as best as he can. Very outgoing and athletic, he is easily a likable person. Few know of his inferiority complex though, which somewhat lowers his morale. Although he isn’t aware of it, Lance is always seeking a need for approval. He wants to prove to everyone...as well, as himself, that he can achieve what sets out to do.
History: Lance’s mother, a beautiful and very kind medic/doctor named, Ophelia was from the island of present day Crete. She was a married woman and lived a simple life with Ephraim Sieglend. The two had met at a festival and had immediate attractions for each other. They weren’t poor but they refused to live in lives of luxuries. Still the pair never seemed to mind and was happy with working hard. They had two children, a son named Myer and a daughter, named Leila. The couple instilled the same values of hard work and perseverance in their children.
One day, while Ophelia was out gathering herbs, she stumbled upon a man relaxing underneath a palm tree out by the beach. She was about to turn and leave the man but he seemed to have known she was there, and so called for her to come over. Skeptical at first, she eventually gave in when she noticed his friendly smile and kind eyes.
The man then decided to show her around the beach, revealing marvelous wonders and unseen areas even she had never seen before, despite that she had been living there all her life. He continued to show up on the beach and Ophelia continued seeing him, soon growing smitten with him. Eventually, she discovered she was pregnant with a son and the man revealed himself to be Poseidon, the Greek god of the Sea. Although stunned, she believed him, surprising. She had always had a feeling that he was different.
It was then, she realized what a horrible mistake she had made. She loved her family but she loved Poseidon as well. He explained to her everything about what she needed to ready her son for his trip to Half-Blood Academy, a school for all demigod children. Before he left, he told Ophelia to not blame herself, and that it was his fault. They shared one last kiss and parted ways.
Ephraim was thrilled to have another child on the way, though he was unaware that it was not his. The last month of Ophelia’s pregnancy, she couldn’t take it any longer, and so she told him that she had, in fact, cheated on him with the Sea God. Ephraim cried in disbelief, anguish, and rage but after a while accepted the facts, for he knew Ophelia would never lie to him. He promised that he’d still father her third child, something she will always be grateful for.
Ophelia and Ephraim named their newly born son, Lance. Together, the family raised Lance into a good-natured boy. He attended school, like his half-siblings, but had a hard time concentrating and reading. That was when he discovered he had ADHD and dyslexia. He made friends easily but was bullied from time to time resulting in an inferiority complex. He continued to try to please his family though.
One day, at the age of 9, Lance was attacked by a harpy at his school, but with the help of a boy named Mason, they drove the creature away. Immediately afterwards, a trident shaped from water appeared over young Lance’s head. Mason explained that he had just been claimed by his father, Poseidon, much to the young boy’s confusion. Lance agreed to take Mason to his home so that they may speak to Ophelia. Mason urged Ophelia to tell Lance the truth, despite his age. She grudgingly did so but with the rest of the family present as well. Lance’s siblings were shocked at this and thought of it as a joke, but when Mason revealed himself to be a satyr, they could only stare in awe and wonder at having a younger, half-god brother. Lance, himself couldn’t believe what he was hearing but noting that his mother was the most serious she has ever been in her life, he could do nothing but believe it to be the truth.
Mason insisted on bringing Lance to HBA so that Lance may be safe. The family agreed and with promises to keep in touch, Lance was on his way to HBA, taking his mother’s maiden name with him. He was introduced to everyone there as well as his cabin mates. Eventually, he grew to like the school very much but misses his home often and writes letters every now and then.
Abilities: Lance would certainly not be lacking in the physical combat department, and even if he were, he wouldn't look it. A bit of a muscle head, you can expect him to be a pretty strong guy. Of course, he never tries to pick a fight deliberately, being a good guy and all. But nevertheless, people need to be careful around him because he can most likely snap people's spines with ease if you give him the chance. Like his siblings, he is gifted with the ability to speak to equestrian animals like pegasi and hippocampi, who he happens to find as very amusing animals. Lance can manipulate the flow of any body of water to use for various reasons and to control at his disposal. He also has an enchanted blade given to him by his Poseidon that allows him to channel his water powers to a higher level. Not only can he merge in water with his blade but anything it touches, lowers its temperature to freezing points, resulting in ice.
Weaknesses: Lance can be too much of a nice guy, so it’s easy for people to just ‘walk over him’. He allows himself to be used as an outlet of sorts so he just lets people vent their frustrations and anger at him. He just wants to see someone else happy if he can help it. Although he rarely shows it, Lance is very insecure. So he trains as much as he can because of his fear of not being good enough and therefore losing the ones he loves.
