Personality: Not many people look up while they’re walking. Charlie does. And she always will. She loves the look of the clouds and the sky. The mysteriousness of it. She finds it incredibly beautiful. In a lot of ways, the sky is how Charlie sees herself. Which might be a little self centered, but, its not a bad thing to like who you are, right? Inside, Charlie feels loved and cared for. She feels beautiful, spunky, and creative. All the things she feels when she looks up.
Growing up she didn’t have a insane amount of friends, but the friends she did have were good friends. People you can rely on and who would go out of their way to help you.
People who don’t know Charlie see her as just another pretty face, but thats something Charlie hates. She wants to be seen as the smart one, or the talented one. In a lot of ways Charlie doesn’t like her looks. She wants to stand out, be remembered. Not just be another pretty face.
Charlie loves to run. She loves feeling the wind in her hair and the ground leaving her feat. The faster, the better. This is why she has been on as many track teams as she has schools. Which, like many half bloods, is a lot. Before she knew what she was, she thought the closest thing to flying, was of course, running.
Charlie hates it when people believe she can’t do something and will often try to handle to much on her own just to prove she can. She’ll try and do everything herself, and usually ends up getting overwhelmed and crashing.
Charlie is a good leader and in emergencies becomes very calm to assess the situation from a ‘not so involved’ stand point. For this reason her friends often come to her for advice.
History: Ariana Rose met Charlie’s father at a wine tasting party in vegas. Ariana had just graduated university and was in vegas to celebrate. Charlie’s father was just a perk. (Or so Ariana has told Charlie all her life.) Ariana has described that night as the following.
“A mistake, but a mistake with a wonderful result.”
“I messed up, and don’t you dare follow in my footsteps!”
“It was just a little bang. Well it was a good sized bang, I mean-”
“He was very attractive.”
Eventually Charlie stopped asking. The truth in the matter was, as much as her mother loved her, she was a mistake. Something Charlie didn’t mind exactly, but she wouldn’t want it repeated.
Ariana didn’t even know who Charlie’s father was. All she remembered was that his name started with a Z. This left Charlie to grow up thinking her father’s name had been Zach.
When Charlie was three, her mother put her into preschool. She lasted a good three days before the teacher, Ms. Marigold suggested Charlie didn’t return.
A year later, Charlie started kindergarten. She made it all the way to may before the principal informed her mother that it’d be best if Charlie didn’t come back the next year. So beginning Charlotte Jane Rose’s long list of schools.
In grade 1 she attended two different schools. In grade 2 she managed to stay in one before pulling the fire alarm. Her reason, I just had to. Grade three was a grand total of two schools and one rejected application. Through grades 4 and 5 she managed to stay in one school before accidentally blowing up the science room. Apparently, when your teachers say “And do not mix bottle a, with bottle b,” they don’t mean “This is a test, be creative, mix bottle a and bottle b.”
In the middle of grade 7, two days before December 2nd (Charlie’s 13th birthday), Two popular girls pulled Charlie away from her friends.
“You are to pretty to be hanging out with those geeksss,” One said.
“Way to pretty half-” The other said before being hit with the others water bottle and shut up.
“Come hang out with usssssss...” The first smiled. Something about the way she’d held onto her s’ caught Charlie’s attention. It was strange, almost snake like.
“I’m sorry...” Charlie said sternly. “I like my friends and would prefer if you didn’t insult them.”
“Who? Them?” The first asked.
“They’re just blind humansssss.” The other said.
“And... you’re not?” Charlie asked puzzled. “Human I mean?”
The first was glaring at Charlie now, she almost growled... no... hissed. Her forked tongue sticking out of her mouth fast and before Charlie could fully comprehend what she was seeing, it was gone.
“Stupid half-blood. How dare you call me human!” The girl launched herself at Charlie. Charlie’s breath caught in her throat as she watched the once pretty girl become a terrible looking monster. She had green skin, and her legs were no longer legs. Each were a long snake like tail.
Charlie was frozen in terror but right before the ugly thing could touch her there was a soft pfft, and then instead of a beast it was just a pile of dust. Behind the creature was one of Charlie’s teachers. Mr. Greene, holding up a bow and arrow.
“Come, Charlottle.” Mr. Greene said, “It won’t be long now until your smell starts to get stronger.”
Charlie didn’t ask what he’d meant, all she wanted to know was why he wasn’t wearing pants. And why he had a goats butt. “I will explain everything. But you shouldn’t be here,” Mr. Greene said putting away his weapon.
“What... what was that thing?” Charlie asked.
“Scythian dracanae. Follow me.” And so started Charlie’s journey to the Academy.
Her first night at the academy Charlie was claimed by her father. Not Zach, but Zeus. Charlie was so confused for the first week at camp that she almost forgot about her mother completely. That was until she saw a clip on the news claiming she was missing. Charlie called her mother and told her everything. Her mother was almost as confuesed as she was but agreed that Charlie should stay at the school.
Abilities: Being a daughter of Zeus, Charlie has erokinesis, the ability to manipulate the air around her. But unlike most of her siblings, Charlie has trouble with electrokinesis. (Manipulating lightning), if she tries really hard she could make a spark, but even that drains her.
Weaknesses: Charlie has severe Claustrophobia. Sometimes even being in a room with a closed door can make her start to get anxious.
Charlie also can’t help but clean the things around her. Straightening crooked pictures, lining pencils on a desk. Small OCD habits like that.
Other Information: Charlie’s father gave her a charm bracelet that basically acts like a swiss army knife. Depending on what charm she grabs onto it can change into different things.
-A sword.
-A knife.
-A dagger.
-Scissors.
and even a Comb.
Sample post:
Charlie was dreaming. It was a beautiful spring night. The sun hadn’t woken yet, but Charlie had. She was sprawled in the tall grass. Her blond hair rustled every so often by the wind. Her eyes were wide open, bright blue. They reflected the stars.
Charlie just lay there though, she didn’t make a sound, or fidget, unlike usual, Charlie was content with just staying still. She was waiting for something, what was it?
Fire works?
As soon as the thought came to mind a set of fireworks exploded in the sky. Reds, Blues and yellows making beautiful patterns. Charlie smiled as the show continued. Some fireworks said things like, “Wake up!” While others were pictures of things. An alarm clock buzzing, a school bus leaving. All things that made Charlie’s stomach hurt.
After a minute, Charlie decided Fireworks hadn’t been what she was waiting for. The fire works stopped, everything falling silent once again.
So what am i waiting for? Charlie wondered. A lunar eclipse?
Again, as she thought it, it started to happen. Slowly the moon started to disappear and Charlie was very amused. That is, until she realized the moon was leaving and then she was just sad. She started to hyperventilate, and decided she didn’t like lunar eclipses. Eventually the moon started to come back.
Maybe it wasn’t night at all? Maybe Charlie was waiting for the sun to rise?
The sky slowly started to get brighter. Changing colors from a dark navy blue to a little light purple. The a pink-ish orange, until finally it became the beautiful blue that Charlie knew so well.
As the sun rose into the sky, Charlie tried not to think about the ache in her stomach but it was impossible. She wasn’t doing something she was supposed to do.
“Charlie wake up!” Her mother shook her. You’re supposed to have left an hour ago!”
Charlie grumbled something that her mother wasn’t sure if she could make out. It sounded like “I wanna fish in the sky blister too!”
“Charlie, up! You’re going to be late! You have practice in fifteen minutes!” Charlie jumped awake, startled by the discovery.
“Mom, I was having the strangest dream!” Charlie said rubbing her eyes to get out all the sleep.
“Tell me about it in the car, right now you have to get into your track uniform! Change!” Ariana ordered and walked out of Charlie’s room.
“Fi-ine.” Charlie frowned, disappointed in her mother’s lack of interest.
Quickly Charlie got up and made her way to her closet pulling out her grey track pants and yellow shirt. She pulled on her pants and slipped into her shirt with ease.
Rushing was not What Charlie had wanted to do that day. Not in the slightest.
...
“Come on everyone, gather round.” Coach Roach (As Charlie and her friends liked to call the her.) called. “Today we’re going to work on relay 400 by 100 so everyone get into groups of four.”
Like usual when Roach said groups Mia, Pluto and Maggie all looked at Charlie.
Charlie laughed and nodded. “Come over here.” She smiled at her friends. As they all came near Charlie started to talk.
“Save your strength girls. Don’t start off as fast as you can go because you will get tired.”
Maggie nodded. “Charlie, you go last. You’re the fastest of us all.”
Charlie nodded as well. “Who wants to go first?”
“I think Pluto should.” Mia said. “He’s second fastest and it’ll be a nice way to start off.”
Mia, you always do this. You know you’re faster then Pluto! Just because you might seem a little vain doesn’t mean you should lie. Was what Charlie thought.
What she actually said though was,”I think we should put you at the front. Pluto will work better as a third.”
Maggie nodded. “Good,everyone set?”
All three nodded and Maggie walked off to give Roach the order.
...
The clapper sounded and Mia took off. She really was a fast runner. She had long legs that could take larger steps and she’d been running just as long as Charlie. She was ahead of the other racers, but not by much. She ran right by Maggie when she gave her the stick.
Maggie, as mean as it sounds was the slowest in Charlie’s group of friends. Luckily, because of Mia giving her a head start Maggie barely fell behind and by the time she passed the stick to Pluto, he was able to catch up. He was just as fast as Mia, but unlike
Mia had only been running for a few years so he didn’t have as much energy and almost fell behind before giving Charlie the stick.
As soon as that stick touched Charlie’s hand the world went into slow motion. She took off, running as fast as she could. The wind ruffled through her hair. It whipped around her wildly. Until, she wasn’t running against the wind, she was running with it. Every step echoed through her body, every breath flowing into the open air.
Charlie was doing great, she was staying ahead of the pack, she was keeping pace. Or, she was... until she fell.
Charlie hit the ground hard at a strange angle and instantly let out a yowl.
“Oh my god! Charlie!” Brandy said stopping in her tracks to try and help her. The other racers stopped to.
“Don’t stop!” Charlie gasped. “Never stop!” Again they all took off, leaving Charlie in their dust.
A boy named Jacob won the race. Jacob annoyed everyone because he had to give a speech after every win.
“I’d just like to say...”Jacob started and Charlie sighed rubbing her sore knee.
“It’s okay Char,” Pluto said. “It happens to the best of us.”
“Yeah.” Maggie smiled. “It could have happened to anyone.”
Mia just smiled at her.
“What?” Charlie asked.
“You’re scrape looks like a heart. It’s really cute.” Mia giggled.
This made Charlie look down at her leg. The gash was huge and bloody. What did she mean a heart?
“Huh?”
“I see it.” Maggie laughed.
“Me too.” Pluto agreed.
Charlie squinted and tilted her head. “Oh...” She said, noticing it. “Indeed, it does.”
