Summer had been long and difficult for the Children of Rome, it had been as though they had stepped into a completely new world. The Greeks were hard enough to get along with, considering that in some ways they were family, which many of the Legion found unsettling. They were so similar, but also so very different. The adding the Titan and monster children, it was a bit more than many could bear. Most had taken to more or less keeping to themselves, even going so far as to turn their encampment into more of a fortress than anything. Not that Nicky could exactly blame them, especially given his own situation with his technically "full blooded" sister who was also a huntress of Diana...Artemis! ARTEMIS! He had to remember that she was Greek not Roman.
Needless to say, tensions between the various demis was high, the Roman morale was pretty low, and it was up to Nicky as Praetor of the Legion to do something about it, which just made things worse. He hated being forced to do anything, and hated being forced into command even more. Why couldn't he just be left alone while someone else made all the big decisions, why couldn't he just be the quiet kid in the back of the class that no one noticed?
"Welllick my nostril handsome," it was that strange Mercury...HERMES kid, Orion. Rumor had it that this guy was well over 100 years old, and there was just about nothing he wouldn't at least try once.
"I'm sorry, I didn't know you were having class here," Nicky said quietly as he noticed all of the young students looking up at Orion with worshipful awe.
"Not a problem at all, I was just showing the kids some of the better ways of wriggling out of a bad situation, would you care to assist?"
Nicky considered it a moment, he was more or less being asked to try his combat prowess against the boy in front of, more or less everyone. If he backed down, or politely declined, he'd lose face with his troopers, but if this wiry boy managed to beat him, it would be even worse. Another damn rock and a hard place, Nicky thought darkly as he answered,
"I had been hoping to do some training with my Legionaries right now..." knowing exactly how futile it was to decline. Orion always managed to get his way, and if the boy was dead set on making a fool of Nicky, there was little Nicky could do to stop him, other than give his best effort.
"Not a problem, Jesse and DJ have a group of older students over there, we were planning a bit of a, I suppose you could call it a gladiatorial exhibition, with less death, to showcase various forms of fighting. I'm sure everyone would love to see how Romans fight in the arena..."
Damnit, I knew he'd get me one way or another, "Certainly," Nicky answered politely, as he pulled on his helmet.
"Fantastic! Right, so here's the deal, I will be demonstrating short sword and knife techniques, Jesse will be more spear man, and DJ is our fish fuc--" Orion stopped short as a weighted fishing net wove itself about his head and torso.
"What was that Orion?" DJ's voice came mockingly. Nicky wanted to join in with the others laughing at Orion's ridiculous state as he sucked up to DJ shamelessly, hoping the Sea God's son would take pity and release him.
"I'd throw it back, that has got to be the ugliest fish I have ever seen, then again my dad would never make passionate love with a seacow...just saying," Jesse called leaning on his spear lazily. The students seemed to find this enormously funny, even Orion couldn't quite hide his giggles as he protested the violation of his dignity, to which both Jesse and DJ made lewd comments and jokes. Nicky wouldn't have minded joining in on the fun, but several disapproving murmurs from his troopers put a stop to that thought.
"Gentlemen, if we could move this along, a number of my troopers have other classes soon." Nicky commented, hating himself for it, with every word.
"Quite right," Orion answered with as much dignity as could be mustered while being trussed up like a Christmas Turkey. With amazing skill Orion freed himself from the net and tossed it back to DJ, who deftly caught it.
"On the lovely Huntress' mark, we shall begin," Nicky's head snapped around revealing for the first time that his sister Emily was also in the Arena working with her girls, the look on her face could have frozen the Nile solid as she pursed her lips calling out, "Do the world a favor boys, and kill each other already," she turned her back on the group, leaving Nicky annoyed as ever. What a stone cold b*tch he thought, just before a glancing blow from either a spear or a trident struck his helmet.
With a curse Nicky struck out with shield and javelin, catching DJ in the chest and Jesse across the knee, only to find Orion practically sitting on Nicky's back.
"Now kids, this just goes to show that, speed and agility will out do brute strength every time." Now Nicky was really pissed, not only was he being humiliated in front of his own people and the other students in the arena, but his sister and her huntresses as well. Dropping his javelin, Nicky caught Orion under the arm and flung him bodily over his should right into DJ. The two went down like a sack of bricks.
Before he could pick up the javelin again he was struck by several quick hits from the spear butt, staggering Nicky backwards for a moment.
"Never forget how many opponents you're facing," Jesse mocked as he helped DJ and Orion back to their feet. I see how it is, three on one. So be it, Nicky thought as he drew his gladius, only to then recognizing that their little groups was no longer so little. Students from all different groups were not crowding the arena shouting and shoving at one another. An innocently little demonstration of skill, was about to turn into an all out battle, and Nicky wasn't so sure he wanted to try and stop it.

Neha didn't really have an opinion about Half Blood Academy honestly, now that she was actually on campus. The people were nice enough and she didn't mind it that much. Okay, that was a lie, she minded it a lot. First, she was a Roman Demi God and that daughter of Pluto. That meant, generally, she fought a lot and she trained a lot. The academy was nice, it really was but there wasn't enough fighting and she always ended up being pretty antsy because there wasn't enough going on. Second, she had met her Grecian Half Siblings and they didn't really get along. Not that it was surprising. Neha hadn't believed that she'd get along with them. Third, Neha didn't really like that she had to remember the Grecian names. She knew them, but it didn't mean that she liked using them. Her father was Pluto and nothing was going to change it. In short, at the academy, it was pretty damn tense. And she was just waiting for the straw that would break the camel's back.
That straw came rather sooner than she had anticipated and Neha watched as there was a demonstration in the courtyards. Her hair was pulled back into a pony tail and Grendel was next to her, tag wagging faintly. Her own weapon was looped at her petite waist, daggers instead of the traditional Gladius most Romans used. Grendel nudged her with his nose and Neha glanced down at him before she looked back up. Nicky, her legion leader and a few of the academy residents were going to demonstrate some different techniques. Neha decided that they were probably just finding an excuse to pick fights.
On the plus side, since arriving at the Academy, she had been remarkably bored. This would be a new change of pace. Neha's eyes flickered vaguely and her lips thinned slightly when she noticed the huntresses and she rolled her eyes, turning back around to see Nicky get butted by a spear, staggering him. Now while in a normal situation, Neha would just let Nicky fight but since it was three on one (and they've honestly faced worse odds actually) and it was Grecians plus a Titan, Neha felt obligated to jump in. It wasn't hard and with a quick draw of her daggers, both of them just spanning the short length of her forearm, Neha was already in the fray, long hair flying. She hadn't worn a lot of armor, just a breastplate, and some guards. Neha never wore the helmet and it was a slightly girlish thing of hers because she hated the helmet.
Her lips quirked into a smirk and she twirled her daggers over her arms, facing the Son of Neptune...or rather the Son of Poseidon. "I Hope you don't mind son of Neptune," there was a barely noticeable pause and Neha corrected lightly, "Son of Poseidon. Three against one isn't quite fair no?" And without really waiting, Neha lunged, daggers flashing through the air. She swiped twice, before dropping to a crouch, sweeping out with her legs. It would be brilliant if she had managed to knock him over but as it was, he seemed a little more heavyset than she was. She may not manage it successfully. But at least, drawing the attention from Nicky was alright. They were of the same Legion.
In the background, Neha could vaguely hear the shouts and screaming students and Neha knew something could and would possibly go wrong. With a mental thought, Neha threw out a hand and summoned. As expected, her skeletons popped out of the ground, jaws chattering and clicking as the skeletons began to spread out. There wasn't much, 6 at max but it was enough to give the Romans an edge.

The only reason DJ even agreed to the demonstration, was Jesse's insistence that he had a unique ability that no one else had any more, and DJ wasn't above a little showing off. Hell, he even got a chuckle out of snaring Orion in a fishing net, but it stopped being fun as soon as DJ got a chest full of Roman shield, followed shortly thereafter by a face full of flying Orion.
Using his trident, DJ levered himself back up onto his feet, getting seriously pissed off.
"Rawr, kitty's got claws," Jesse commented looking over what DJ could only assume was a Daughter of Pluto as a company of skeletons popped up from the sands.
"Shut up Jesse," DJ grumped forgetting his net, taking up a firm grip on his trident and swung hard at a pair of skeletons turning them to dust.
"Let's not have any dirty tricks now folks," Orion commented getting to his feet. "This is just a little sparring, not a war..." not that anyone really cared what Orion was saying, everyone had been spoiling for a fight for some time now, and DJ wasn't about to back down from one that looked to be a real test of skill, not to mention a whole lot of fun.
"Jess, you like the 'kitty', why don't you try your luck with her, who knows she might actually let you win." DJ commented with a wry smile turning on Nicky. "I think I'll take up the dance with soldier boy here..."
Before DJ had a chance to even get Nicky in his sights, he was laid flat once again by a flying entertainer, and was not the least bit entertained.
"You know we really need to stop meeting like this, I have a boyfriend after all and he's the jealous type, I mean I might be able to convince him to let you join in...if I do that thing he likes..." Orion babbled rubbing the back of his head where it had come in contact with DJ's chin.
DJ wanted to throw back some smart remark but found he had better things to do, like not let the skeletons make him dead. He rolled to the side as a skeleton jabbed down into the sand, where DJ had been just moments before. A quick kick to a creaking knee joint sent the reanimated bones tumbling down in a small cloud of dust, as they worked to reconnect.
"Hey! Who's a guy gotta blow to get some HELP around here?!" Jesse called out as he tried to hold his own against Nicky and the girl.
"Don't look at me, I've got a boyfriend," Orion shot back as he thrust his sword through a skeleton. DJ grunted as the bronze shaft of his trident connected with the scattered bones adding their dust to the sands of the arena floor. "You know, we're not exactly at an advantage over here Orion. Jess and I are more or less fish out of water," DJ complained parrying an attack.
"You know, I've heard a saying that that said, 'Once part of the Ocean, always part of the Ocean,' but then again I could be making that up," Orion skidded on his knees under DJ's trident, his bronze short sword finding it's mark where the skeleton's heart once was.
"Seriously guys, a little help would be, oh I dunno, good right about now," Jesse complained as he tried to keep the two Romans at a distance with his longer weapon, but hard pressed to get in a counter attack.
"Fine. But you'll owe me," DJ dropped low happy to find his discarded net close at hand. Grabbing it and swinging without pause he was able to trip up the Romans just long enough for him to make it to Jesse's side.
"Any bright ideas? You know I'm always open to suggestions," DJ stage whispered to Jesse as they stood back to back facing the newly disentangled Romans.
"I'm guessing offering sexual favors is out of the question," Jesse commented swinging his spear hard making Nicky jump back a pace or two.
"I'd say that's a fair assessment," DJ mused as he struggled to parry the girl, Neha that was her name, Neha's attacks. Why couldn't he remember that before? Not that it really mattered at the moment, the golden daggers were coming at him fast, it took most of his concentration to keep up his defense.
"Where'd he go?" Jesse muttered, DJ almost had time to ask, "Where'd who go," before a sword hilt caught him full in the face, putting him down for the count with no clue what had just happened.

Honestly, under normal circumstances, Lukas probably wouldn't have given a damn who was trying to slice and dice each other. And most of the time, he'd just let it slide. The problem today, and the reason that he jumped into the fray was because that one son of Poseidon was fighting. Lukas didn't know him much, other than that one short greeting before summer had started. They had been at Orion's club when they met officially. Granted, at the time, Lukas probably wasn't as social as he could have been but the other was nice. And leveling the school wasn't high on his list of things because as much as he loved his grandmother, she was off sightseeing somewhere down in the south and he didn't want to have to join her somewhere in Bolivia because the academy was leveled. That and D.J. was pretty damn cute. Of course, Lukas wasn't going to admit that anytime soon.
"Need a hand?" Lukas quipped lightly, appearing suddenly in the battle, wind picking up quickly around him. He was levitating somewhat, quickly soaring overhead as the head of a skeleton came flying in where he just was. Lukas just whistled though, a little bit amused and he was even more amused when D.J. tugged on his net, tripping up the Romans. His lips quirked into a smirk when the daughter of Pluto, Neha, if he remembered correctly, hissed. Lukas grinned at the two water-based demi-children. "Although it does seem like you're doing well, now that you two fishes are next to each other."
He quickly cringed though when he noted that while indeed the two fishes were now next to each other, they weren't doing much better against the two Romans. Lukas supposed that it was because the two were of the same legion, the Romans. They knew each other pretty well too probably. Even if one was a son of Zeus, or rather his Roman counterpart, Jupiter and the girl was the daughter of Hades aka Pluto. It was obvious that being away from a source of water was throwing off the two boys, considered the Romans were clearly having the upperhand. Lukas winced, a low sound leaving his lips when Nicky, the son of Jupiter, pretty much smashed the flat of his sword into DJ's face. Lukas turned, attention distracted by a noise on his left and he yelped when Neha suddenly appeared, bringing a dagger down. Lukas barely managed to dodge, hissing as her dagger nicked his cheek. Surprised, Lukas' lips curled, teeth baring and the wind grew, whipping around her. He was slightly angry but not enough that it was going to kill his control.
"Lukas-child" the lilting voice of his mother pierced his consciousness and really, Lukas just kind of ignored it in favor of facing the Roman Soldier/Demi-God in front of him. "What are you doing?"
"Sorry mother. I've a Roman to tear apart." and Lukas cut off the link to his mother, opting to lunge at Neha instead. He heard her shrill something but it escaped his mind. His winds cut through a skeleton, rattling the bones and Lukas had drawn his favorite choice of weapon, expanding it and Lukas swung with the scythe, hearing the clang as it met with Neha's daggers. His scythe wasn't a normal Roman or Grecian weapon but Lukas couldn't deny that it was cool and a brilliant weapon. He kicked her away, a smile springing to his lips when he heard her pained yelp and he was in the middle of the other three demi-gods, wind whipping at his arrival. "Sorry for interrupting I suppose but I like D.J a little too much to have him dead. I don't really know Orion but I know Jesse somewhat. I'm sure Cami wouldn't like if I let him get squished by you two Romans."

This whole "flying Orion" bit was really getting old, either that or Orion was just really really really off his game. He managed to get back to his feet, only to find that he was way up in the cheap seats instead of the arena floor, and had no idea how he got there, not that it really mattered. The fight had enveloped the whole of the arena, the masses of teenage angst, frustration and general b*tchyness had taken over the whole place.
Fortunately no one was too badly hurt, or worse, killed...yet, but if things weren't brought back under control soon, that story may change. Orion climbed up on one of the awnings to get a look at the situation and see exactly how far the fighting had gotten. Fortunately it hadn't spread past the arena yet, but it was nearing the archery range at an alarming rate, but that wasn't what really concerned him at the moment. He had seen a strange blackish cloud headed on a crash course for the Academy, which shouldn't have been possible, and yet there it was. Orion watched the mass approach the school's boundaries, just waiting for it to be diverted, only it wasn't. It slowed a bit as it crossed the outer boundary, but it just kept coming...
"Not good...very not good," he swung down off of the awning swiping a bugle from a near by Son of Mercury, putting it to his lips trying to remember all of the bugle calls he had learned at Camp all those years ago. He sounded "recall" as loud and clear as he could to get everyone's attention, bellowing out, "THE SCHOOL IS BREACHED! TO ARMS! TO ARMS! ACADEMY TO ARMS!!!" He pointed to the advancing cloud of what Orion hoped weren't Stymphalian Birds.
It looked like the Roman Nicky was catching on and attempting to rally his troops to defend the school. DJ was still out of it, but Lukas, the Siren boy, seemed to be taking care of him. Jesse was trying to separate a number of younger students from fighting and get them to head for a safer, more secure area. Orion frowned to himself, he was a scout and a herald, not a leader, but he supposed he would have to do until DJ was back on his feet or Jesse got back.
"Orchard!" Orion called grabbing a bleating satyr."Get the Headmaster!"
"Bahhhhhh buuuuuuut he's bahhhhhh--"
"Just shut up and find him NOW!" it wasn't often Orion raised his voice in anger or frustration, but he did now, even throwing a kick to the satyr's furry behind to get him moving.
"Where are they at?" Nicky the Roman asked breathing heavily. Orion didn't have a chance to answer before the birds started their attack, and Nicky didn't need to ask.
"ROMANS FORM UP! SHIELD WALL DOUBLE QUICK!" Nicky bellowed.
"Did I miss something?" DJ asked leaning on Lukas and his trident, a small trail of blood from his nose. Orion could have kissed him just then.
"Stymphalian Birds--" Orion didn't have a chance to explain further as a new sound cut clean across the grounds
"AAAHHHHHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO,"
"And now wolves..." Orion commented ducking an attacking bird. "So yeah...orders?" Orion asked relieved he wasn't the one having to give orders now.
"Romans to the Boundaries! Hephaestus House break out the bells! Apollo and Huntresses knock and loose!" DJ ordered swaying slightly turning to Orion. "Little Boy Blue, blow your horn,"
Orion smiled a weak smile and went back to his bugle calls, hoping to rally the students and stun the birds at the same time.

Neha scowled a little bit, turning to glower for a moment at the Poseidon boy. Who was he to order her around? He wasn't her legion leader, and he sure as hell wasn't her father (which would have been really strange and freaking awkward). Nicky was her legion leader, well, while Tony Du Rone was off doing something but Neha didn't mind. They were both adequate enough as leaders but this son of Poseidon sure had balls to order her around. Her eyes narrowed and Neha figured that she would settle the matter some other time. Probably when the Academy wasn't under attack. And maybe when her ribs weren’t stinging (the Siren-boy, who was now helping the Poseidon boy [weren’t they just a lovely pair?] had gotten in a lucky hit a few seconds, if not minutes earlier.)
A bird came screeching down and rather unfazed, Neha's scowl only deepened and she swiped at it, smiling internally when the bird's head severed off its feathered body. Neha couldn't help but cackle a little bit, her ire at DJ ordering her around lessened slightly. She wasn't pleased on any level to be ordered around by a Grecian of all people but she supposed at the moment, she could try to save the school. She didn't like it but for the moment, it was home. She bounded up the steps to the battlements where the son of Poseidon had told her and the other Romans to head to, taking casual care to sever a few more birds and she ducked when a bird was thrown her way. Neha frowned a little bit but did nothing; one of her remaining skeletons did the trick, happily (and disturbingly) chomping off the head.
Her lips pursed, dodging a vicious looking beak and slapping the creature in the face with the flat of one of her daggers and Neha looked around. She had remembered that during the fight, before this academy breach, she had lost a skeleton or two and another was struggling to piece itself back together. Air hissed from her lips and Neha flung out a hand again, summoning more. Before the academy, she had given her self the limit of 8 dead every two days if necessary but since the academy, she found it a little hard to keep to that limit. Especially with the academy being attacked. The ground shook a little as about 6 more skeletons popped out and Neha cringed, feeling her legs give a little bit and she clutched at the battlements, frowning and scowling at herself and how weak she was. It was only 4 more than her usual 8. She needed more practice.
”That’s over your limit Neha,” Grendel’s voice growled and Neha almost had forgotten that he faithful guardian of the underworld was around. She just gave him an odd grin and hissed when a beak caught her unaware, scratching her cheek.
”I know. But think of it as practice right? And besides, I think Pluto-daddy actually likes the Academy. If he ever liked anything anyways.” She ducked as something screeched and tore at the air where her head just was. She grinned when Grendel just snatched up the creature and crunched it. She swung her daggers and felt vaguely annoyed when something snipped her hair tie, sending her hair flowing and around. ”Damn. Maybe I should have cut it.”
A bird came screeching down and Neha hissed, dodging and rather ungracefully and stupidly for a Roman soldier, she tripped, hitting the battlements. Grendel was ready, snatching the bird out of the air and Neha grinned at her pet. Then she turned, scrambling to her legs only to cringe as a wolf lunged at her. She didn’t have enough time to react right away and blinked when a skull of all things came flying through the air, smacking the wolf in the face. It whined and before it could recover, Neha sent her daggers plunging through its head.
”Well that’s not something you see every day,” Grendel commented lightly and Neha agreed. She looked around and blinked when she saw one of the resident half-bloods with their hand outstretched and one of her skeletons headless. They clearly had thrown it and even though that person wasn’t of the Legion, she nodded and turned back.
She could thank them later. Once the academy was safe.

Post by Ventus Izyel Sohn on Sept 9, 2011 23:31:45 GMT -7
It was the screech and the sudden pain stinging his cheek that made Ventus blink. For a moment, still coming out of his daze, Ventus frowned looking up to see the bird. His lips pulled back and he growled, eyes narrowing at it. Why birds? And why during his freaking daze state? He climbed to his feet, noting that it wasn't just birds, that there were wolves too. Pity, he was having such a nice black-daze-space moment. Ventus ducked a diving bird and kicked aside a wolf that was charging him before he drew the stick that extended to his scythe. His customary gloves crinkled as he extended it, watching as the blade swung out before he swung it in a practice swing. Ventus just kind of blinked when the severed head of a wolf landed at his feet.
"Puri, didn't actually expect that," Ventus murmured lightly and he turned his head to miss another bird as it dived at him and Ventus turned his eyes to look at it. His lips pulled back into a snarl and he swung the scythe, watching as it sliced the creature in half, straight down the spine. It dropped and for moment, Ventus leaned a little bit on his scythe glowering. "Stupid freaking bird. Damn nuisances."
From the corner of his eyes, his daze slipping away now as his senses and reflexes fired up from the thrill of a fight, Ven could make out the people in the fray. A son of Poseidon and a half-siren he couldn't remember the name of looked like they were double teaming and a demi-titan looked like he was having fun...ish. There was a person on the battlements, looking a little winded with a hellhound next to her, a daughter of Hades perhaps? Well, she could also be the daughter of Hades's Roman Part but it didn't matter. As long as the academy was still standing afterwords.
"Well, since the peanut gallery is fighting, might as well help out too. As long as I get to drop a few more of those wretched things with wings." Ven turned, head tilting and he was moving. Now he wasn't the fastest of people but he was fast enough to cross short distances with ease and he found himself standing somewhere near one of the Romans, the leader or something. Ventus couldn't remember who it was but he looked vaguely familiar. "I don't think the demonstration involved wolves and terrible things with wings right? At least not initially? Puri."
Ventus had spaced out, like normal, when the demonstration had initially started and by the time the skeletons popped out, he was gone pretty much. He didn't mind. Not a lot of people tried to attack him out of the blue anyways. Well, some did but it wasn't bad. Turning his attention back to the battle at hand, and away from his spacing out habit, Ven's lips narrowed and he raised his scythe. He had birds to mutilate.

Post by Joelle Morte on Sept 10, 2011 2:04:26 GMT -7
Joelle growled at Persephone with forced patience, she had just turned her hellhound into a dandelion because Autumn had trashed the Goddess' flowerbed. "Turn her back NOW." she spoke through clenched jaws. She had to deal with Persephone for over a month now, if she saw another flower she was going to rip it to shreds. The goddess liked to torment her throughout her stay. Each one had a hidden meaning, Pansy's flooded her room in the castle- down the hallways, to the garden, in her breakfast bowl, in her closet. The b*tch just wouldn't stop. Sure, they had their times where the two were nice to eachother. They could make quiet conversation and smile kindly. But it was only a matter of time before Joelle accidently walked outside and killed all her flowers, or set the Goddess aflame during lunch. Thereby claiming it must have been the friction of her hindquarters or something that sparked the flame.
The two were always at eachothers throats, it didn't matter if Hades was in the room or not. The poor man had to endure more female conflict then probably any other man on the earth. He had a crazy mother-in-law, a crazy wife, and children who had to deal with said crazy women. Joelle was usually on great terms with her step-mother, but after the Goddess had found out that Joelle would be fighting, gaurding and helping Hades; The woman turned as bitter as the dead of winter.
Persephone sighed heavily and flicked her wrist, watching as Autumn changed from the pretty little dandelion to a giant Hellhound half the size of a monster truck. The table that she was once planted on exploding underneath all of her weight into wooden chunks. Autumn bounded happily toward Persephone, momentarily forgetting that the Goddess just turned her into a flower and covered her face in slobery wet kisses. Joe felt her lips turn into a smirk and she returned her attention to her plate of food from the surface world.
Today was the day she would return to the Academy and even if Persephone was a bit of a pain, she insisted Joelle eat something before leaving. After finishing her plate she smiled at the Goddess and gave out a sharp whistle; so high pitched it could only be heard from the Hellhound. Grabbing hold of the dog's giant collar she shadow traveled out of the Underworld and into the Academy Arena where she kept Autumn. Unfortunately there was what looked like to be a battle occuring between several people, she noted DJ who was still fighting, Jesse who seemed to be out for the count and some other faces she hadn't met yet.
Autumn seemed to realize what was going on, and snatched a bird from the sky and ripping it to shreds. Joe frowned at what she had traveled into. She had already been through over six battles in the past month under her fathers' requests. Now this? She looked back to the fighting demigods, seeing Orion on the opposite side of the battlefield blowing on the conch horn and giving out direction. DJ was shooting out orders like never before and she was momentarily impressed by his sudden change over the past month. She sauntered her way through slashing blades and giant wolves. Eventually arriving next to Orion without a single scratch on her. "ORION!.." she tried to yell over the screeching but her voice wasn't loud enough to get his attention. Roman and Greek demigods were flooded acrossed the arena, some wounded others not. Stymphalian birds lay dead everywhere but the quantity seemed to keep on coming.
Instead Joelle caught the attention of five huge wolves, each one bigger then the next. Her expression was none other then patience and she smiled tauntingly at them. They surged forward, and she reached deep in her gut- taking a deep breath she lifted her palm infront of her. The ground split open into a huge abyss about fourty feet wide. But by the time the wolves realized what they were running into it was too late, and they were ingulfed in darkness. Joe had practiced her powers more then most, seeing as she had lived at camp longer which was why she wasn't completely drained yet.
A few of the birds flew down and started pecking at her, but quicker then most thought possible, her twin stygian iron Isis daggers were in hand. Dodging the pecks and slicing off the wings and heads off of the attackers, she sent the person collapsing to the ground unconcious. She noted a few skeletons running around aimlessly, one noteably trying to find its head. She frowned, and wondered if her brother Noah were out here somewhere- ressurecting headless skeletons. She didn't have to wonder long though, because her thoughts were shut down by the sight of a younger girl slicing away. The girl ressurected six more skeletons before returning to the fight.
Joelle realised that the numbers of birds and wolves were overwhelming the demigods and she thought it a good idea to start her own chain of fighters. She took another deep breath and felt her gut stinging in pain as thirty large skeletons errupted from the ground. It was well over her limit by ten and she felt herself have to grab ahold of the wall to keep herself from collapsing. Her eyes fluttered and her breathing slowed for a moment until a wolf rammed into her side full on. The feeling was like getting hit with a miniature bus. Joelle's sense went on high alert and she pushed all the pain away, thrusting her blade into its side and pulling upward as it split in half. She was now seeing red and her breathing was heavy, but she had pushed herself even harder. Shadow-traveling behind several birds and wolves, cutting them to bits before they could even react.
She tripped over Jesse's body and flipped him over, slapping him across the face, "WAKE THE HELL UP WE'RE IN BATTLE- THIS ISN'T NAP TIME!" she yelled over the screeching, going back into her fighting stance.

There are times when a good fight is exactly what a guy needs to feel alive again. When the adrenalin hits and the blood starts really pumping, it's like life being blown into your soul. Nicky hadn't felt so alive in such a long time, it was almost a spiritual experience, he was so lost in that he nearly forgot the others under his command. He leaped high, his sword skewering a pair of birds into yellow dust as he ducked and rolled taking one of Lycaon's wolves under the jaw, cleaving it's head clean off.
"YOU STUPID BOY!" Nicky's head whipped around to see the furious face of his sister Emily. She gestured to the huntresses behind her who had stayed their shots just in time, so as to not turn Nicky into a pin cushion.
"Get out of here and go deal with your OWN people," she hissed turning on her leaving Nicky somewhat dazed as she left. At least she didn't have them shoot you anyway, He looked around seeing Jesse the Titan boy laid out on the ground, with a wild looking girl throwing water in his face. He hoped that it would be enough to get the boy back into the fight. The Hermes boy, Orion, was dancing around playing a bugle for some reason, one of the students that had been watching the demonstration was right in the thick of it swinging a big ass scythe looking either bored or stoned, either way it was extremely odd. Nicky looked around, the fight had for the most part moved past the arena and was headed toward the Academy entrance, where stood a dark figure with red glowing eyes, surrounded by wolves, just on the other side of the boundaries. Lycaon! Nicky thought, getting extremely concerned. He had to find Neha and his other Romans, and take the battle to him, otherwise the school was utterly screwed.
"Where the hell have you been?" DJ demanded as he marched, Lukas the siren boy sticking as close to him as a shadow.
"Fighting, what did you think I'd be doing taking a nap like that other fish f*cker over there?" Nicky shot back annoyed.
"Whatever. We need you and your Romans to get their Imperial Asses over to the boundaries--"
"And just who the hell put you in command. I am the Praetor of the Second Legion, Son of Jupiter--" Nicky started to rant as DJ started to really get under his skin.
"Then get off your ass and take command already! Whoever is controling these wolves is just on the other side of boundary, it won't take much for one of the young ones to invite him in, then we are royally f*cked." DJ chided his eyes flashing a sickening green of a stormy sea.
"FINE! But this isn't over between us," He wasn't sure why he said it, but there wasn't much that could be done about it now. He took off at a run, then jumped up and bent the wind currents to his will, forcing them to carry him to the boundaries where the fighting was getting thicker. He landed lightly on his feet, sword at the ready.
"LEGION TO ME!" He bellowed with a voice full of authority. "Children of Rome! Hear me! Now is the time to take the fight to our enemy. Form up. On my order...ADVANCE!" His golden sword flashing like lightning as he waved it forward. All around him the scattered masses of fighters formed into a phalanx of sorts and stared a steady paced march forward. For a split second Nicky could have sworn that they were marching in perfect time with the beating of his own heart.
"It's about time thunderhead. GREEKS forwaaaaard MARCH!" it was DJ commanding his own rag tag phalanx furhter south along the boundary. "Hey thunderpants, try to stay alive, and I'll make it worth your while," Jesse called making lewd gestures as he herded a gaggle of titans on the north side of the Romans.
"TITANS...ah f*ck it GET 'EM!" they surged forward yelling savagely. Nicky paid little attention to either group, just concentrating on getting his own troops into battle. The crossed the magical board only to find Lycaon and his wolves waiting patiently.
"LEGION!--" Nicky started to command the attack, only to choke back his words as he saw someone else appear in a shimmer of light next to Lycaon.
"I told you it would work my King. He doesn't understand the first thing about strategy or tactics, he just charges forward like a maddened bull," the figure commented to Lycaon as he turned his eyes to Nicky.
"TONY?!" Nicky croaked out in utter disbelief.

Boys were stupid. Period. No ifs, ands, or buts. They were just stupid. Always saying stupid things, thinking they were oh so cleven when in truth they had no clue what so ever as to the real way things worked in this world. Emily's years with the Lady Artemis had shown her exactly how stupid and impulsive boys were. They would start whole wars, supposedly over a woman, without so much as even considering she might possibly have an opinion all her own. And now Emily and her fellow huntresses were once again mired in the stupidity of boys. They were fighting animals, not armies here, couldn't these stupid idiots see that? Apparently not, and all of the others, who weren't huntresses, followed to stupid orders of the stupid boy just like stupid sheep. All of this made Emily so angry her face looked like she was trying suck on the world's sourest lemon. "VOLLEY!" Emily commanded and another flight of birds came crashing down impaled by silver shafts. "Need any help?" asked another stupid boy, who was so obviously a stupid son of stupid Apollo, that it was painful. "VOLLEY! No Apollo boy, we do not need you and your stupid father's assistance with archery!" Emily's voice was so sharp the boy actually flinched. "Um, I wasn't asking about that, I meant to say any help with your wounded. We've just set up a field hospital over in the Dining Pavilion..." "Oh..." Was all that Emily could say looking at this stupid boy who wasn't completely stupid. "No we're fine...actually, come to think of it, we could use some relief at least. If you could get your siblings to take over shooting down these birds, we could be taking out those wolfmonsters, they are extremely vulnerable to our silver arrows," "Eh, right, I'll see if I can't find someone to do that for you, Andee would know...so yeah I should be going, lots of wounded to attend to..."the boy wondered off looking dazed and confused, but then again all boys looked dazed and confused to Emily. "VOLLEY!" she ordered preventing her thoughts from going too far astray. Her temper momentarily cooled, until she saw her stupid brother doing some weird show offy bird slaying, landing right in the line of fire. "HOLD!YOU STUPID BOY!" Nicky's head whipped around to see the Emily so furious she could have spewed flame, gesturing to the huntresses behind her who had stayed their shots just in time, so as to not turn Nicky into a pin cushion. "Get out of here and go deal with your OWN people," she turned on her heel and waved her huntresses to a new location, cussing out stupid brothers and stupid boys in ancient Greek under her breath. It was lucky that the Apollo Archers showed up and took their place fighting the birds in the arena, Emily saw the stupid boys in their full stupidity as they formed ranks to fight the wolves OUTSIDE the protections of the school. Emily cursed their stupidity with all her strength, so much so that she could have sworn she saw lady Artemis shaking her head is disapproval at such language, but then Emily blinked and she was gone. Flushing utterly embarrassed she turned her people. "Take your mark upon the wolves within the school boundaries, those stupid idiots out there are going to have to deal with the others on their own. We're going to have to make sure they don't get taken from the rear. On my command. Draw. Take aim. LOOSE!" A shower of silver arrows rained down on the wolves ripping the monsters to shreds, turning them to dust. Emily would have smiled in satisfaction, if it weren't for the stupid boys not even knowing they were in danger in the first place. Emily growled out, "AGAIN!" Post by Neha Catria Lark on Sept 13, 2011 19:26:44 GMT -7
Neha whipped her head around so quickly at Nicky's croak that she swore her brain rattled in her head. Of course, she knew it was impossible but it didn't matter because f*ck, Tony du Rone, their previous praeter who had vanished to who knew where was standing, talking to some person. Judging by Nicky's face, the person was not a member of the Academy and judging by how some wolves prowled almost protectively around the two of them, this was not good. Not Good at all.
Her lips pursed and she irritably pushed back some hair, flinching vaguely when some huntress of Diana - ARTEMIS!, some huntresses of Artemis barely missed skimming her cheek with their arrows. She cast them a droll glance and at her feet, Grendel growled but Neha placed a hand on his head, silencing him. She probably and really had no time to deal with the haughty Huntresses. So what if they were huntresses of Diana - Artemis!; and they were immortal. It didn't make them much better than the other half bloods. All she figured was that they were arrogant. And they were really, really, arrogant. But I digress.
Turning back the situation at hand, Neha turned, facing the battlements and the drop down. She moved a little closer, brows furrowing and with a low hum, Neha swung her legs over the battlements, re-strapping her daggers back to her forearms and then she dropped. For a moment, her mind blanked because damn that was really freaking high and then instincts took over. Her body tucked into a roll, spinning as she fell and then she landed with a crouch, hands pressed against the dirt. It wasn't until Grendel appeared next to her, emerging from the shadows that Neha realized she could have just done that too.
But she didn't actually have a lot of time to think and she ducked, tongue darting out to lick her lips as a rain of arrows, courtesy of the Apollo kids or the Huntresses came down and she felt something swing over her head. When she finally decided that it was clear, Neha looked up, a little cautious, the fact that she saw Tony now fleeing her mind.
The first thing she did notice though was that the weapon of choice was a scythe, and for a moment Neha thought that the Siren-boy of all people had just decided to save but clearly, that was not the case since the siren boy was still pretty attached to the Poseidon boy. This person was not a face she knew, which automatically ruled out her legion and being a fellow Roman. He was taller, much taller than her and he had this perpetual bored look on his face but then again, Neha figured he could be stoned or something but she didn't know. Nor did she really care.
"You know, you should watch yourself there Roman. You'll get skewered that way." his voice was low and Neha blinked. The kid (who the readers and the author know as Ventus) just gave her a weird crooked not quite a grin sort of grin then he swung the scythe to the side, letting part of it rest casually and obviously in a practiced manner, against his hip. "Yah, Roman, are there still birds up there or have the huntresses and the Apollo kids taken care of them all?"
"Well if the arrows aren't stopping, there probably still are birds." Neha answered, a little bit confused. Ventus grinned and hefted his scythe, blinking only just once when an arrow bounced off the curved blade, jerking off in some wayward direction. He turned his gaze and Neha wondered if this kid actually belonged on the battlefield and she didn't know what to say or do when he actually waved to someone. Then he turned back around, eyes gleaming.
"Well then, I'll leave you Roman. I'm going to go behead some birds before the huntresses get to them all." and then he was gone. Neha just blinked again because honestly, what? But no matter, for a moment, it looked as if he knew what he was doing, ducking and weaving and casually beheading things as he went. Maybe he was more alert than his bored face told her.
"Neha! Tony!" and Neha turned again, ducking and plunging her daggers into a wolf skull at it lunged at her, jaws open and fangs dripping. She barely managed to push it away in time and she turned, glowering all the way at the duo in the mass of fighting halfbloods and beasts.
Just what the hell was going on?

DJ was completely and utterly confused. Somehow, Tony Du Rone, full brother to his friend Shay, former leader of the Roman Legion here at the school, was standing and counseling some monstrous being in attacking the school. It made no sense what so ever. But he did know that Tony's pleased look did not bode well for the Academy students at any rate. As the formations came within spitting distance of the school's magical boundaries, Tony and the monster disappeared in a haze, like they had never been anything more substantial than a mirage. Something was wrong, very wrong here. DJ was about to order a halt, when felt a strange tugging sensation at his gut, as the first ranks of student/soldiers stepped on the invisible line the marked the end of the school's protections. DJ knew in an instant that they were in some serious trouble, he dropped his trident, praying that it would reappear in its ring form soon, wrapped his body around Lukas' whispering, "Trust me," as a massive tidal wave erupted around the whole perimeter of the school. The force literally picked up the students and bodily carried them back to the arena. DJ held Lukas as tight and close as he dared, hoping beyond hope that his abilities would protect them from the full force of the wave. The next thing he knew, DJ was lying in the wet sand of the arena next to Lukas, Jesse and Nicky...representatives from each of the different groups at the Academy, not a good sign. He looked up to see a massive wall of water at least a hundred feet high forming into a barrel chested man, with long flowing hair and beard, carrying a massive oar in one hand, while a mural crown made of coral rested upon his very angry looking head. "WHAT IS THE MEANING OF THIS?!" Pontos bellowed, striking fear and silence into every student. Never before had DJ know any kind of fear of the sea, but in this moment he felt the most primal and primitive fear of the wild and unpredictable sea that his mortal ancestors must have known. When know one seemed to have the ability to speak, the massive wall of water began to shrink and solidify into a more human shape, but losing not of its awe or terror. "David Jesse Nelson, Jesse Monroe, Nickolas Alexander, Lukas Jihoo Shou. One of you explain what has happened her, and do it NOW," This wasn't their doting headmaster speaking, this was the terrible fury of a god ancient beyond all understanding. Screwing up is courage and giving Lukas' hand a comforting squeeze, DJ stood up and walked up to the god falling to his knees. "My Lord Pontos, the school was under attack. Some how Stymphalian Birds, and some sort of monstrous wolves--" "The servants of Lycaon Lord Pontus," Nicky interjected on one knee leaning on his sword hilt with head bowed. DJ nodded looking up at the god, fighting to keep his courage and composure. "They breached the school's boundaries while we were fighting in the arena--" "And just why were you fighting?" the god demanded. "It started out as a demonstration, and training exercise, and well..." "Things got a bit out of control and people started taking sides against one another," Nicky finished refusing to raise his head. "There you have it." Pontos proclaimed, some of the anger leaking from his voice, revealing more of the Headmaster they knew. "When students take up arms against one another in earnest, the protections that surround this school are weakened, leaving it vulnerable to attack. Thus forcing unity to combat the common threat." Pontos no longer towered over them as an angry god, but as the more familiar stern school master. "There is more My Lord," Nicky offered in a flat voice. "Then speak Praetor of the Second Legion," "My predecessor, Tony Du Rone...I saw him with the enemy...he was advising Lycaon, well about me and my command style..." Nicky's voice broke as the weight of the presumed betrayal seemed to crush him. "I saw him as well Lord Pontos, but I cannot say as to what was said. They disappeared just moments before your arrival." DJ offered knowing that there was a shoe somewhere just waiting to drop. "This is disturbing news indeed. If we have a friend who is now working for the enemy, the school is in greater danger than before. Students are to be confined to the school grounds until further notice. No one is to leave, without first consulting the Oracle or the Augur, and my consent. Now return to your Houses, clean up duty will be issued after I speak with these four." Pontos motioned for DJ and Nicky to stand, and for Lukas and Jesse to join them. "I am very disappointed in you all. You NEVER take the students beyond these boundaries without my consent, especially in battle formations. Too many demigods draw far too much attention from mortals, which endangers us all. You allowed your own prejudices to cloud your judgement, and provoked a war within our sanctuary, I'm mainly talking to you three, and you Jacob Orion." Pontos' gave shook DJ to his core, he knew the god was right, and couldn't come up with a single reason to justify what they had done. "I want you to go assist with wounded, then we will talk punishment later. Dismissed," Word Count: 924 Muse:...right there was one there somewhere Notes: Time to deal with the aftermath Tags: Very Yes
