He didn't know how long it had been since he had played Capture the Flag, but he was sure that it had been way too long. The armor he was given just didn't fit right no matter what they did, and the bow, well the bow was a travesty. It was in terrible disrepair, the wood was brittle, and the string was likely to snap, but according to the Academy Staff, they were "his". He didn't know how these could possibly belong to him, but then again he knew better than to argue with gods, at least he hoped he knew better now.
"LEE!!!" Archer pleaded. He had only known the Hephaestus boy for a short time, but they had become good friends like they had known each other all their lives. "HELP IT!!!" Archer sounded just pitiful as he held the ill fitting armor out to Lee, giving him the biggest puppy dog eyes he could manage.
"Look Archer," Lee said patiently, trying not to let his annoyance leak through. "You're playing for the other team, I can't help you. You have any idea what those Hades kids would do to me if I was caught 'aiding and abetting the enemy'?"
"I'll make it worth your while..." Archer intoned his voice as smooth as silk and as sweet as honey.
"For the love of the Gods!" Lee exclaimed exasperated. "Dude, I know I have a bit of a reputation as a man whore, a well deserved one at that...but come on. I mean, I sort of have a thing, with your brother..."
"Oh do you now?" Archer pressed, hoping it would be the right button to get Lee to do what he wanted.
Lee sighed motioning for Archer to hand over the Armor. "I can't fix it now, but after the game is over I'll see what I can do. In the mean time," Lee waved over to the Academy stores. "You'll need to use this stock stuff. This bow on the other hand..." he ran his fingers over the weapon wincing. "Is pretty much dead. But, you are in luck. I just finished working on one this morning, before the teams were posted, so technically it isn't supplying the 'enemy'," Lee pulled out a bundle wrapped in oil cloth.
"It's all celestial bronze, which means it's a b*tch to draw, unless it's yours. Let me show you. Pick up my bow and draw," Lee instructed. Archer picked up the beautiful weapon carefully, and tried to draw back the string, but no matter how hard he strained it would not bend. Archer sweated and swore handing it back to Lee.
Chuckling Lee handed it back to Archer saying, "Now try and draw your bow," Giving Lee a withering look he took up the bow again, and easily bending the string to his ear without so much as a second thought.
"That's just weird," Archer murmured as he eased the string forward, so as to not dry fire.
"It's just something I was toying with, it's not much of a magical property, but it's a start. It'll hold you over until after the game at least,"
"Lee you have no idea how much this means to me..." Archer began.
"Forget about it. Just don't go busting it up. Here," He put a stack of armor on the counter. "Archer's armor for Archer. Not get out of here before we both get yelled at."
Archer took the bow and armor, and bolted out the door mouthing his thanks to Lee again as he took off. He was ready to see what Lee's...Archer's bow would do in a fight. If nothing else, it was a big hunk of celestial bronze, he could use it as a club or something.
