Rachel Scatter should have learned by now that if she blows off her assignments for school, she was going to have to suffer consequences. But the scary thing that she found in herself is that she honestly could care less. It was a bad demeanor to have at times, but still. So she got in trouble, how terrible was that? She wasn't a small child that was a delicate little flower anymore. Rachel Scatter had seen and done things that she couldn't change, and those things toughened her up into the person she was.
She had been so busy in the past weeks of school, it was crazy to her how fast days went. Rachel just needed to take a step back from it all, let loose, and have fun. And there was only one person who could help her with this. Yet she didn't have any classes with Orion, and so she hadn't found time to hang out with him lately, which really sucked. Tonight though, was finally a free night that she had, and instead of relaxing in the Dionysus dorm, she headed down to Club Orion, where she was positive Orion would be hiding. So here she was, running around Club Orion in a tank top, jeans and flip-flops, trying to look for him.
Luckily for Rachel, she didn't have to run around very much, since he was in the third room she checked. The cabaret was where she managed to locate Orion, and he was sitting there, on the stage, looking over something. Rachel's eyes lit up with sudden excitement when she had realized that he was there. "Orion!" she called across the room, not caring if he was busy or not. The redhead had then dashed across the room, and practically tackle-hugged the Hermes boy. "Orion, you better have atwist my nippleslipop for me." she teased, grinning at the Hermes.

As much as he loved his club, and as much fun as he had performing, he was sick to death of his office. He had been cooped up in there for too many days to count, long enough to be on the verge of quoting Oscar Wilde, about either the wallpaper or him having to go. Since Ashley had been instrumental in helping him pick out the wall paper for his office, Orion decided the best course of action was for him to do business outside the office for a bit.
He debated where he could set up shop, even for a couple of hours without too much difficulty. He could work up on the roof top patio, but too many students liked to frequent it on their off periods. During the day they started serving healthy stuff like bottled water, salads and the like for those who needed a little snack between meals. So that was pretty much out of the question, the same went for the Lounge/Student Union. It was always packed with students. That left the Private rooms, The Cabaret and the Underground.
His office was on the same floor as the Private Rooms, so that would have been convenient if nothing else, but a number of them were still in use, and Orion maintained a strict policy that whatever happened in those rooms stayed in those rooms, management was not responsible for anything that happened in there, and as long as the room was returned in good condition, there was no cause for complaint. Sure every once in a while a room would be utterly trashed, but that's what the Sons of Iapetos were for. Orion didn't particularly enjoy having to use them to take care of business, as the clients always reappeared looking like they'd gone 10 rounds with a brick wall and lost. So those rooms were out of the question.
The Underground was closed for cleaning, it was only ever open after sunset, and closed at sunrise, but it was another place were Orion made a point of not asking questions. Of course, he'd had to intervene there a bit more often as the Raves and Mosh Pits tried to spill over into the rest of the club, but for the most part the madness of the Underground was kept underground.
That just left one place, his place, the Cabaret. When he and Ashely had worked out the plans for the Club, he insisted o having his own special stage, and Orion went all out on it. It looked like Ricky Ricardo could walk out of his dressing room and strike up the band at any minute. It was the style he had most enjoyed at the Lotus, from what he could remember. A piece of 50's and 60's Vegas right here as his own personal playground. He loved the feel of it, walking out on stage in a tux crooning away to patrons sitting at their tables sipping expensive turtletails...there was just a magic to it. That wasn't to say that it was always that way. He had made sure that the room was extremely versatile, something he could change around at need, for whatever show he would be putting on at his Midnight Revue.
He pulled a table and chair up on stage and let the ambiance of the room settle his restless mind for a bit, before he started reviewing the books. The Club always made money, but it also took care of its people extremely well. The pay was usually give in the form of golden drachmas, unless and employee specifically requested to be paid in mortal money, even then, Orion made sure they were well taken care of. The best part was a good 95% of the money made at the Club went right back into the Academy. To the various houses that contributed to the Club's success in wages and supplies. The Iapetos, Demeter, Dionysus, Apollo and Hermes Houses all made a mint off of the supplies and services Orion bought off of them. It made Orion happy to give back to his people like this, he reflected, unaware of a red headed menace barreling his way.
"Orion!" He barely had time to turn his head to see who was calling his name before he was toppled out of his chair. "Orion, you had better have atwist my nippleslipop for me," she proclaimed grinning like a Cheshire Cat.
"Scatter! You are a menace you know that? I was in deep contemplation about the meaning of Life, the Universe and Everything...and I keep coming up with the answer of 42," he jested pulling a grape sucker from his coat pocket.
"You know Scatter, you really should cut back on the sugar, it's not good for my health..."

The Dionysus girl couldn't help but grin at Orion. She was a menace; after all, she was probably going to be the death of most people. Though she still had a bit of a belief that she could possibly get away with murder. Though she wasn't as cute as she used to be, that didn't mean she could still pull a mean puppy dog face to get something she wants. She used it sparingly nowadays, since she didn't really much need anything. Well...there was an exception oftwist my nippleslipops, but she didn't need to pull many strings for that. Hell, all she had to do was just ask Orion, he mostly had some hidden somewhere within his clothes. Rachel grinned cheekily. "A menace, eh? I cause harm now? I'm not sure if I should take that to offense or as a compliment." she said, before rolling off onto the floor, and springing back up. She processed his words for a moment, yet her mind still couldn't figure out what it meant. Yep, good old Orion for sure. Always leaving her to ponder over what he just said. Sometimes she asked what he meant, other times she just left it there and didn't worry about. She decided to just call him smart and leave it at that. Rachel jumped of the stage, grabbed a chair from one of the tables, and dragged it up onto the stage so she could sit with him. "42 sounds like a reasonable number. Orion, you are way too smart for me, and for your own good. Still, you're not busy?" Rachel asked him. She squealed out a "thank you" to the Hermes as she unwrapped her treat, stuffed the wrapper in her jeans pocket, and stuck the sucker into her mouth. Grape had slowly become her favourite flavour over the years, and though it should've been her favourite from the beginning, Rachel used to hate the taste for some unknown reason. It tasted nothing like grape, whereas watermelon and strawberry tasted somewhat like watermelon and strawberry. But now she always ate grapetwist my nippleslipops, because her taste buds changed or something. "How is it bad for your health if I'm the one consuming it?" she asked, actually quite confused. "I don't eat them as much as I used to. It's amazing that I'm not obese." she said, smiling at him. She found it to be a miracle after ingesting so much sugar throughout her childhood. "Hey Orion, can I ask you a random question? How old are you? Like, I know you were in the Lotus Hotel for 'enter number of years here', but like, you're in the same grade as me. Don't you lose time in the hotel, so you're like, much older than what you're supposed to be?" It was quite a random question, yet Rachel had always wanted to ask Orion that, just never found the time do so. Orion couldn't help but snort at Rachel's obvious cluelessness when it came to exactly how much of a hyper menace she was when she had had too much sugar, well any demigod for that matter. Sugar and ADHD really didn't mix well, unless it was in the middle of a fight, but that was an entirely different story all together.
For a long time, Orion couldn't figure out why he was so found of this Dionysus girl, or why he contributed to her sugar habit, but he was beginning to understand that she had the same manic energy he did. She could jump from topic to topic without so much as batting an eyelash. He used to be rather good at that, he could talk people in circles like nobody's business. He had even once tried to bore a dragon to death, of course that had been before the Lotus. Before he channeled that energy into performing. At one time he and Archer had commented about much like a drug performing was for them. Just being on stage ignited a bit of a high, and when the audience was rocking and swaying, cheering and applauding all for them, well, they couldn't have climbed much higher, even with Daedalus' wings.
"How old am I? Don't you know it's impolite to ask a lady her age...which does not apply considering I am no lady. Although, once you've seen me in a dress, it's rather difficult to unsee...anyway, you asked how old I am. I am precisely 907 years old, but damn do I look good for my age," he ran his fingers through his hair, then straightened his bow tie sitting back giving Rachel a critical look.
"Why do you ask? Has my AARP card shown up? Or perhaps you are looking to get a senior discount at the Country Kitchen Buffet, for the early bird special, where you pass up all the good healthy food and go right for the yummy ice cream. Mmmmm nice vanilla ice cream with little gobs of peanut butter and chocolate mints..." Orion got a dazed far off look remembering the homemade ice cream he had once smuggled into camp, nothing had ever tasted so sweet, so perfect. But that was long ago, and all of those who had been at the camp them were long since dead, he alone surviving.
"We are being far too serious," he announced shoving papers off of the table into his attache case. "We need a bit of fun, how about some coin tricks?" He dug in his pockets unable to find any coins. "Second thought, coin tricks are silly, and you wouldn't want to be silly. Perhaps the shell or cup game," He looked around for some non-see through glasses, but everything had been put away for the day. "Nope, the cup game is for suckers, you're not a sucker are you? Well now you are," he reached behind Rachel's ear and appeared to pull a sucker out of it. "See there you are sucker," he handed to Rachel and began rummaging around in his pockets again. "AHHA! Here's something I haven't done in a long time," He took out a deck of cards and began to expertly shuffle them, all the while looking anywhere but at the deck of cards.
"So me ol' scatter brained Scatter, what's your game?"

Rachel frowned. "Do I honestly go insane when I have sugar? Because I've never realized this." Unfortunately for Rachel, she hadn't quite found an outlet yet to channel her energy. Most days, it came through talking. Other days, she'd drag Orion along to run around the school grounds until she was tired. She would've done what Orion did, but she felt as though she didn't have a good enough singing voice to do what Orion practically does as his "job". Because of this, she always loved to listen to other people sing rather than her. She found it almost completely normal to just ask someone to sing for them. Rachel was probably going to ask Orion sometime before the night ended. The Dionysus raised her eyebrows slightly. "907? Seriously, that old? Or are you just pulling my leg?" she glanced down at his bowtie for a moment, then back up into his eyes. "I'm probably gonna end up stealing that from you. After all, I've learned from the best." she smirked, then watched as he cleared off the table and talk in a rapid pace. Exactly like what she did. This was why she considered the Hermes her best friend. He was as crazy as she was. Only he was a lot more intelligent. And didn't consume as much sugar. Rachel was about to make a response so she could defend herself since the last time she checked, she was NOT a sucker, yet Orion had managed to distract her with anothertwist my nippleslipop, and a trick that always stumped her. "How DO you do that?!" she asked with wide eyes as she took thetwist my nippleslipop. She quickly stuffed it into jeans pocket so she could eat it later. "And don't you dare tell me that it was 'magic'. I've actually always wanted to know, because you all always did it to me when I was younger." Rachel smiled as the memories of her younger self took over her mind for a moment. She could remember all her siblings that tried to protect her, and they didn't necessarily "fail", more like did a good enough job. They couldn't have hidden her from everything forever. Rachel scrunched up her face as she thought about what card game they should play. After a couple moments, she glanced down at the cards that were in his hands. "Can I see those?" she asked a bit too innocently. She sat the deck off to the side, took two of the top cards off, then attempted to put them together so they'd make an upside down V. She stuck her tongue out as she focused hard on getting the two cards to stay together. After a couple moments, Rachel had finally grown frustrated. She knew she wasn't going to be impatient enough for this unless she cheated. She glanced up at Orion. "Erm...you happen to have any tape on you?" Words: 500 Muse: I spent nearly 10 hours writing this. We can clearly see my muse here. Tags: Orion Notes: If you wanna do the house of cards, then go on ahead. "Tape? TAPE?! You are ask for TAPE to ruin a perfectly excellent deck of cards?!" Orion asked with semi-mock indignity. "That my dear is blasphemy. No no no, we never ruin good cards with tape, unless of course they are a rigged deck, but that is a different matter entirely. On second thought, building card houses is boring. No we need something exciting...like my idea to expand Club Orion beyond the boundaries of Half-Blood Academy." A devilish twinkle lit up Orion's eyes as he snatched up the cards and sat facing Rachel.
"Tell me Scatter, have you ever heard of the Caduceus Cafe? Mind you they were never as popular as Monster Donuts, but then again it never really catered to that sort. Anyway, the Caduceus Cafe, was an experiment done by some of my brothers and sisters, in tying the franchise business into the life force of a monster, one particular monster." Orion paused trying for effect, but finding even he was getting impatient for his own story. He stood up pacing back and forth on the stage.
"Monsters have been doing it for at least 50 years, or so I've heard. What they do, is magically bind their business to the life force of a hydra...that's right a hydra! So, whenever it is attack and gets its head chopped off, two more spring up in its place, meaning more and more business pop into existence. Mind you, most are incredibly unprofitable, but in this day and age name recognition is everything." He was getting more excited as he explained his plan.
"Now, I'm not proposing anything as suicidal as bringing a hydra here, binding it and all that...I have a better plan. I am going to have the smiths build an automaton hydra, and we bind the life force, if you want to call it that, to the Club. Then instead of lopping off heads and watching demigods get eaten, we just build new heads and attach them to the machine, and ta da a new Club Orion appears somewhere in the world. We can even figure out how to get the clubs to show up where we want them to, by where we attach the head" Orion was almost bouncing on his toes with excitement.
"It's not without its dangers of course. I mean the machine would have to perfectly mimic a hydra, but I think we could get it so that this robo-hydra is more or less tame, you know no random acid showers for people and all that. But the hard part is the actual construction and binding, and the actual implementation of it...but aside from that it should be a breeze..."

"Oh please, tape will NOT hurt the cards. Believe me, I've made houses of cards using tape, and when I pulled them apart, they still looked the same." Rachel argued. Though she knew it was pointless, since the majority of the time, Orion was right, or he distracted her with something else. Besides, he had already snatched the cards away, and explained the short idea that he had so he could expand Club Orion.
Rachel listened, keeping her eyes locked on his until he got up to start pacing. "Yeah, acid showers wouldn't exactly be considered 'good.'" she told him once he finished, making air quotes around good. The Dionysus rose, and walked over to Orion, grinning. "I actually like the idea, though I kinda like Club Orion just being here. It's like, Half Blood Academy's special place that you can't get anywhere else in the world. I mean, look at this!" she said, gesturing to the stage, then to the Carabet in general. "This place is unique, different, and it's the only place that has such an amazingly, epic show every Sunday, by the owner himself. But, you're free to do whatever you want. It does sound like a good idea though, mind if I ever happen to use that if I ever do something with business when I'm older?"
Quite honestly, Rachel didn't even have much of an idea on what she was going to be when she was older. At most, she was probably going to be the one to make candy or something along the lines of that, and sell it. That was pretty much the only thing Rachel could think of at this time, though she was pretty sure that she would change her mind over her occupation before the time came.
"Ya know what, Orion? I'm having two cravings right now. One is wine, the other is to have a race around the school, though I'm pretty sure if I do them in that order, surely I'll get sick or something along those lines. So, I'm gonna let you decide at what we should do." she grinned at Orion. She considered herself to be pretty damn lucky, once the first generation siblings had left, she had come to learn that no matter how much she drank, she would never get drunk. Though there was one time when she let herself get drunk, and after being hungover, she had decided to not ever become drunk again.
Words: 424 Muse: Meh Notes: Haha, it's alright. Though it's your choice again, because I'm indecisive~
