These days Ashley had a lot on his mind and he couldn't be sure if it was a good thing. His situation had been much more simple when he was just helping out at Camp Half Blood. Then the only thing he had to stress over was giving wayward campers stable duty for any number of things from stealing to sneaking off camp grounds to illegal substances. Ashley had never cared about any of those campers though, not like he cared about Orion and that was the difference.
With a sigh, Ashley stretched feeling something pop faintly in his shoulders as he did so. Not surprising as he had been sitting as still as a statue for a while now with only the pigeons of Central Park for company. Looking as them now, as they pecked away near his feet, Ashley half wished that he had thought to buy something for them. The other half of him thought of the pigeons as diseased ridden pests. Pushing away the idea of take off his sunglasses and freezing some of them mid flight just to see if he could, Ashley slumped back in his seat and continued with his not so pleasant musings.
He wondered if it had been a good choice to start something with Orion. He cared about the other boy, deeply in fact, but things had just snowballed when they had escaped Vegas. Ashley was not used to letting people get too close, and he had a good reason for that, but all of a sudden he was making plans and choosing office wall paper and talking about getting a pet dog. Things needed to slow down a little, which was why Ashley was here in the first place. He had gotten wind of a half monster child popping up somewhere in the city and had gone off to investigate. Actually he had told the headmaster that he had more to go on then just a rumor and it wasn't like Ashley to lie but he just needed to get out and away from all the demi gods and demi titans. Things hadn't gotten any better for the monster children since the arrival of the Romans either.
Feeling suddenly antsy, Ashley jolted to his feet. His sudden movement didn't even startle the placid pigeons, a fact that made him frown a bit as he looked around and spotted the thing he was looking for. Absently looking for his wallet, Ashley made his way over to the hot dog cart. Mustard. Relish. Ketchup. The works.

Pontos wasn't a fool, of course he knew why Ashley had asked to go into the city on his own, investigating this half-monster claim. He also knew that this same half-monster was probably long gone, but he decided it would be best to allow Ashley to go, if only for a little while. The god would have loved to say that he let the child of Medusa some time alone out of the goodness of his heart, but that wasn't strictly the case, well at least it wasn't the whole story at any rate. It did provide an excellent excuse to not have to play host to Lord Hades during his visit to the Academy, he'd let Persephone handle that one. If they were having one of their spats, he really didn't want to be involved, besides he had other things to worry about. He had appeared in the city not far from Central Park, dressed in fishing waders, a pea-coat and an old ball cap with the logo of "Ponty's Crab Shack" supported by two crab claws on either side. Of course it wasn't the subtlest of "disguises" but the didn't really care about that, all he cared about was not showing up looking too obvious when he found Ashley. He found the boy at a hot dog stand right around the corner. "It's on me," Pontos said deftly flipping a Drachma that morphed into a $20 bill to the vender. "Keep the change. Mr. McArthur, would you be so kind as to join me for a walk?" Pontos' tone was clear that it would be in the boy's best interest if he agreed. "Please, don't let me interrupt your meal, but I did want to talk to you. Somewhere...away from prying eyes," He paused near a lake with a giant gnarled tree that appeared to have a face. "Hyperion always did stick his nose where it didn't belong," shaking his head he continued towards the lake, where a small row boat sat waiting. "After you, if you please Mr. McArthur," He waited for Ashley to get seated and settled before stepping in the boat himself, snapping his fingers at the oars, which brought them to life enough that they began to ply the waters on their own. "Ashley, I understand how you feel right now, I have noticed how, oh how to put it...how taxing...how much of a handful Orion can be, but I have also noticed how much you both care for each other. Never forget that. I also share your concern over the half-monsters at the school, it truly saddens me to see how much ingrained hatred and prejudice there is. Perhaps given time, and with a few half-monsters, like yourself, stepping up to the plate when a hero is needed, they will learn to respect you as you deserve. "Please do not take this as criticism, you are a fine young man and have served Camp, the Academy and me, extremely well. You are one of the few students and staff members I can rely upon completely, which is why I wanted to speak with you here. But I do agree with you that our half-monster and half-mythological students need a place of safety, a club or organization of some kind to help them grow and thrive. Perhaps, if one of their number were to under take a quest and come back a hero..." Pontos trailed off as the boat stopped in the middle of the lake, where he produced a fishing rod. With a deft flick of the wrist he cast far onto the lake. "I find that the quiet solitude of fishing does help clear the mind. There is a rod and tackle under your seat if you care to join," Pontos nodded in Ashley's direction letting the previous topic sink in by being silent for a long moment. The half-monster society was a very good, but dangerous idea, but then again the whole venture Pontos was planning on asking Ashley to undertake, was a gamble, a very risky gamble, and he wasn't sure that even with Ashley's help, he could pull it off. "As you know, my stories only mention my immortal children by Mother Gaea. There is a good reason for this, as they are the only ones of my children that she allows to live, at least for any real length of time," he reeled in his line and cast it back out without looking at Ashley. "I have had other children, demigods even, although I suppose the technical term now would be demiprotogenoi, although I believe they would be classified as 'half-mythologicals' or something to that extent, at the Academy. "Over the centuries I have had exactly four demigod children, three of which I only barely managed to save before they met a grisly end at the hands of my beloved's minions. The fourth...there may yet be hope for him..." Pontos trailed off for a moment picturing the faces of his children as they had been before he had to turn them into the Black Sea, a Shark and a hot spring respectively. He wasn't sure he had the heart to do it again if... "His name is Richard Waters. He is currently living with his mother and grandmother in Honolulu, but they are under siege by earthborn...I have done all I can, directly, to protect them but even that may not be enough. Ashley, I am asking you do do me this favor...bring my son to me. Help him get to the Academy where he will be safe, and can learn how to use his powers...how to be a hero..." he wanted to add 'how to cheat fate' but new better than to give the thought voice. "If you would take this quest for me, I would be extremely grateful. As with any other quest you will be permitted two companions to join you. But heed my advice, take only those you can truly trust, and who can help you stay alive. I will help where I can, but even I have my limits. I will leave you now to decide whether or not you wish to undertake this quest. i will bare you no ill will, should you decline. When you have made your decision, all you have to do is tell the boat to take you back to the Academy and it will bring you there." with that Pontos evaporated into mist and disappeared leaving Ashley to make his decision. Even though he had planned to have mustard, ketchup and relish on his way to the hot dog cart, Ashley thought better of it in the last minute and simply had ketchup. The combination of all three would have been tasty but it would have also made his queasy in the stomach. Best to eat something safe before he stopped wallowing in his thoughts and actually go and confirm those rumors which had bought him here. Ashley was fishing for some spare change when he heard an all too familiar voice that made him freeze. Of course...did he really think he could trick someone who had been alive since the dawn of time with a half truth? Ashley watched as the drachma changed into a twenty dollar bill and swallowed down his sigh. "Thanks." He took his hotdog from the vendor who now had a confused look on his face, no doubt wondering how a twenty could have sailed like a tossed coin towards him.
"Of course, Headmaster." They both knew that it was for formality sake. Ashley had no choice in the matter. No, scratch that he did have a choice and it was between talking about something he didn't actually want to know with Pontos or getting turned into sea weed. No prizes on guessing which option was more appealing to Ashley. "Thank you for the hotdog." It always paid to be polite especially since it wasn't everyday that an Ancient bought you a meal. It could very well be his last one, which was why Ashley wasn't tucking in just yet.
He followed Pontos to the lake, not making any remarks and just being his usual stoic and formal self, only tucking away that information about Hyperion being a busybody. "Thank you, Headmaster." And that was for all the compliments that Pontos had just paid him. "It's been my honor and my pleasure." The former more then the latter of course, because there were many, many times when Ashley had simply hated his job. But his honor, the fact that Ashley wanted to prove himself to be more then the child of a beast was something that he could walk across mountains for. Getting into the little boat which Pontos had lead him to, Ashley had a feeling that he was going to be doing just that.
There was nothing but the sound of the oars slicing through the water and the sound of Pontos' voice as he told Ashley about his half mortal son for quiet a while. Ashley shook his head seriously when he was offered to join in the fishing and only sat his hotdog down on his lap. The ketchup was slowly oozing onto the napkin but he was quite glad that he hadn't eaten it just yet, hearing Pontos' story he would have probably vomited the hotdog out again over the side of the boat if he had. Accepting the quest was the only path though, perhaps the Ancient had known that praising Ashley's honor and talking about a Half Monster society would be one key to having Ashley accept. The other key was sounding like a worried, almost broken hearted father.
It was several minutes after Pontos had disappeared before Ashley picked up his hotdog and started to munch thoughtfully on it. In his mind he was thinking about logistics and supplies. He was permitted two questing partners but he had decided on only one. With that in mind, he whipped out a phone and sent her a text telling her that they would need to pack and that they needed plane tickets to Honolulu. "Take me back." He said to the boat though his final mouthful of hotdog. Wiping ketchup from the corner of his mouth, he sat back and wondered how he was going to tell Orion about this quest.

It always made Orion a bit anxious when Ashley was gone on Academy business. The fact that they boy was alone, looking for monsters never sat easy with Orion, but because he understood it, didn't mean he liked it. Those were the nights he rarely slept at all, and always felt the need to go for a run. He supposed it was his way of connecting with his father Hermes. He would run and think, "Father please protect him. Give him your traveler's mercies," and the likes, and so far it seemed that his prayers were being answered. He just hoped that that continued to be the case.
His path took him along the Academy's boundaries, where the world of myth and magic was separated from that of the mortals. He was always amazed at mortal's abilities of seeing only that which they wanted to see. He wondered if anyone looking towards the Academy right now would see a lanky boy puffing and sweating as he run up and down hills, or they just saw some kind of junk heap or something. not that it really mattered to him what they saw, just so long as the Academy, and everyone in it was safe.
He was approaching the Long Island Sound for the second time that morning when he saw the strangest thing, well not exactly the strangest thing, but a strange sight none the less. A row boat, pulled its way out of the fog, with no one in it but Ashley sitting at the stern, looking as serious and formal as ever. Orion slowed to a jog as he pondered why Ashley would be coming back by sea, he was fairly certain he had left by car, not that it mattered. Hermes had heard his prayers and brought Ashley back safe and sound.
"Hello sweetie," he offered with a smile, offering Ashley a hand in getting out of the boat. "How was the trip? Profitable I hope," Orion slipped an arm around Ashley's waist giving the boy a quick squeeze, before realizing he probably smelled like a locker room, and didn't look much better. He was taken by surprise as Ashley explained that Pontos has given Ashley a quest, not just ordinary Academy seek out the potential students business he usually did, but an actual quest. A dangerous one from the sound of it. Orion frowned deeply, he didn't like the idea of Ashley going into danger on purpose, even though Orion did it often enough, but then again Orion had a way of getting back out of danger, thanks to his father. His hand went to the magic necklace about his neck fingering the Caduceus lightly.
They halted a short distance from the Resident Housing when a half-monster girl appeared. Orion seemed to remember having seen her before at some point. He was fairly certain she was a half-sphinx, or Nemean Lion, or something like that. Apparently, Ashley had invited her to join him on this quest. Orion frowned even more, this girl was dangerous, and she was going to be alone with Ashley on this quest, Orion didn't like that one bit.
"You know what. I want you to take something for me," Orion broke in, not really caring if he were really interrupting or not. "I want you to take this necklace with you," he slipped it off his own neck, for the first time in nearly 100 years, and draped it around Ashley's. "It will always point you towards safety. Just hold it in your palm and the Caduceus will show you what direction you need to go. It'll make me feel better if you have it...just make sure you come back with it, and preferably without any damage," Orion gave the girl a pointed look making it clear he was talking about Ashley more than the necklace.
"So, yeah, a quest, you need some supplies and things, well you have come to the right man," Orion grinned, his fertile mind pulling together lists of things they would need.
"Right this way,"

It wasn't until the boat had started moving that Ashley realized that that he was in the middle of a lake. There was really no way back to Academy unless the boat rowed itself over dry land and the high way. Mist or not, Ashley had no wish to look like a giant douchebag in a magic rowboat, with his luck a bunch of Party Ponies would spot him and spread the news to everyone. He was about to get off as the boat reached the shoreline but fog suddenly sprang up around the boat, making it hard to see. It also made Ashely sit down again as falling into unknown waters with thick fog all around him was also high on the list of things he didn't wish to do.
The fog was so thick that it blocked even the sound of the highway and after a few minutes of nothing but the sound of water sloshing against the side of the boat, Ashely caught a whiff of sea air. Somehow he had gotten out to sea and this fact was soon confirmed when the fog cleared up. "Huh..." He muttered to himself, knowing that he should not have been suprised by this new development. For a moment he thought that the rowboat had bought him all the way to Hawaii. That would have been a turn for the worse because Ashley didn't have anything on him but his wallet and his knife. He didn't think he could hope to go against the Earthborn like that and survive. It was a relief when he realized that he was reaching the shores of the Academy and Ashely even smiled faintly when he saw who was waiting for him.
"Jacob." He said, as Orion helped him out of the boat. "Somewhat." Ashley answered dryly when the other boy asked if his trip had been profitable or not. Seeing that the Earthborn was involved, it certainly wasn't profitable to his lifespan. Orion gave him a brief hug and Ashley pulled him back again when he felt the boy pulling again. "Is that all?" He asked, faintly teasing. The smile that Ashley usually reserved for Orion was pulling up the corners of his mouth and he leaned in to press his lips aginst the other boy's. It was something in between a kiss in greeting and a kiss of farewell but Ashely didn't want to get overly dramatic about it. He reached out and took Orion's hand as they walked back towards the Academy and during his walk he started to explain everything that Pontos had told him.
"I'm taking Tabitha with me." He concluded and no sooner had he mentioned her name, he saw her gliding out of the darkness towards them. She had two backpacks with her, and Ashely nodded to her as she appraoched them. He was about to ask her what she had packed and if she had booked the tickets but Orion inturrupted him by putting that necklace around his neck. Ashley raised his eyebrows at the other boy, not liking the idea of taking that necklace with him on the quest. He didn't like that Orion would be without it because anything could happen while he was away.
"Sure." He said, not wanting to voice out anything in front of Tabitha. As the walked though he put some distance between them and the half sphinx girl. "I don't think I should be taking this with me." Ashely muttered, for Orion's ears alone. "I'd rest easier knowing that you'd have an escape route if anything happens."

She had been taking a cat nap when Ashley's text came through. Tabitha had spent a really long night following up on some lead on a new half monster child that she had been tempted to ignore the beeping and just go back to sleep. Of course it could have been one of her contacts calling with something new on the case and after a few minutes of staring at the ceiling and a whole lot of muttered curses, she dragged herself off the bed and padded over to her dresser. The message that she read left Tabitha staring at her phone for a couple of minutes. There was total silence in her room aside from the ticking of the clock on the far wall. A quest to save the son of Pontos? She wasn't' so much worrying about the danger, she was just baffled as to who in their right minds would have sex with old Pointy. Wrinkly...Tabby thought and shuddered before going to her lap top and booking plane tickets to Hawaii. She used the Academy's credit cards of course, getting plane tickets under a fake id number as well. There were going to be Tina and Aaron McAlister a brother and sister duo traveling alone. After she confirmed the booking, Tabitha quickly scribbled down a list of what they might need. This sounded like a tricky kind of quest, though she had to wonder why old Pointy didn't just ask one of the demi gods to do it. Apparently there were another breed of those at the Academy now. Tucking her list into her pocket she went off to get supplies and was back three hours later. There was no word that Ashely was back and Tabitha used the time to take a shower and then write a note to her sister telling her that she was going to be away for a couple of days and to take care and do her homework and other mundane things like that. Kitty was having some sort of sleep over and she didn't really want to disturb the fun with news of a quest. Tabitha googled their destination, especially street directories and then doubled checked if all the supplies when she received another text from Ashely. She was to meet him near the demigod residences, so she went. She wasn't looking forward to it since the whole place smelled like tuna. Finding Ashley with his boyfriend, Tabitha simply shrugged as Orion sent her a warning look. She didn't have time for any of that posturing but trailed behind the boys as they walked to get more supplies from Orion. "The tickets have been booked, we leave about three hours from now." She said this casually, though there was a really big hint in it if the boys chose to listen." Word count: 478 Muse: Watching silly videos Tags: Ashley, Orion

He wasn't sure how much more he could possibly love Ashley, until he tried to give the necklace back. Orion couldn't help but smile. Here Ashley was, going off into almost certain danger with a dangerous cat woman, against Mother Earth's own children, and he was more worried about Orion than is own safety. Orion slipped his arms around Ashley's neck and rest their foreheads together.
"Ashley, I'll be fine, I promise. I won't even sneak out of the grounds to do some ahem, procuring items in Manhattan. Hell, if it'll put your mind at ease, I won't even raid that new Roman settlement their building. But I want you safe. I want you to come back to me, safe and sound. This," he pressed his fingers on the Caduceus, pinning it right above Ashley's heart. "Will do just that. It will show you how to get back home to me," Orion smiled fondly placing a gentle kiss on Ashley's lips before snaking back to Ashley's side muttering, "We should probably get a move on things, from the look of her," Orion shot a backwards glance at Tabby. "This kitty's got claws, and I'd just assume we not be her scratching post,"
Orion pinched Ashley's butt playfully before turning his mischievous smile on Tabby. "Hello my dear. I trust you'll be the one keeping this one out of trouble," It was a clear statement that Ashley probably wanted to protest, but Orion wasn't listening. "That means no stopping at strip clubs or certain Casinos on the way there, or back. I'd hate to be an old many when my Johnny comes marching home again, not that I wouldn't still be damn good looking mind you," he tried to put his mind at ease as he clung to Ashley's waist not wanting to let go, but knowing that Ashley would be less likely to do some foolishly brave thing if he were on own with Tabby, rather than if they both went.
"Right, send me an Iris message when you get there, I have contacts that might be able to help you out, at least point you in the right direction." He gave Ashley another kiss, and gently push both he and Tabby towards the parking lot.
"Security always takes forever, so you'd better get going. Oh before I forget," he dug around his shorts pockets and pulled out a small leather pouch stuffed full of Golden Drachmas. "This should help with any extra expenses you might have that don't take mortal money, and" He pulled a set of car keys out of his pocket handing both to Ashley. "It's best if you don't ask where I got the car," his eyes twinkled as he grinned. "Right, so that's everything I suppose. Off you two get, I'll be here waiting when you get back. And I'll be expecting to be the first to hear your heroic tale of daring do, and all that,"

He frowned, not liking Orion's refusal to take the necklace back. Ashley knew what it could do and there was a tiny part of him that was already whispering that it would be useful in a battle with the Earthborn. Still, his worry for Orion's safety was an irrational thing and it effortlessly drowned out any whispers of reason. "Jacob, I'm being seriou-" At this point Orion interrupted him with promises and Ashley couldn't help but smile. The mental image of Orion sneaking around the Roman construction site was just too irresistible. He glanced downwards as Orion poked his chest and whatever other argument that Ashely had died on his tongue when his boyfriend's lips met his. He sighed against the kiss, wistfully thinking that if he had any more of this he would just tell Tabitha to go on her own.
He snaked an around about Orion's wrist to keep him close and tossed a faintly dirty look when Tabitha spoke up. "I'll send you an Iris message when I get there." Ashley echoed, stifling the urge to sigh which was easy when he busied himself with trying to playfully swat Orion's hand away from his butt. "For one thing I don't go looking for trouble it pretty much finds me on it's own as you know. And as for getting stuck in the Lotus again, we're going to be flying straight to Honolulu. Besides why would I want to go when the only thing that was good about the Lotus is out here?" Those mushy words were out of his mouth before Ashley could stop them and he looked slightly sheepish when he realized that he'd probably get flack from Tabitha during the drive to the airport. It couldn't be helped really, there was something about Orion that made Ashely act all different.
He stopped as they were herded to the parking lot and mentioned for Tabitha to go ahead to one of the Academy cars. "Please just remember to take of yourself." Ashely said again, leaning in to give Orion another kiss on the mouth. "Love you." He mumbled and to stop himself from repeating over again over that he really, really wanted Orion to take care while he was gone, Ashley turned and walked over to the car Tabitha had chosen. Opening the door, he slid in smoothly and did not look back.

She had never found her nails to be very interesting until this point in the evening. Tabitha kept half a ear on the whispered conversation that Ashely and his boyfriend were having and tilted her hand this way and that. He knew that she could hear him right? Tabitha willed her claws to curve our of her hand as she rolled her eyes. She wanted to tell Ashely to just shut up and take the necklace already because really, this self sacrifice thing was really old. They were supposed to be a team and Tabitha for one would love to have a magic necklace on their side. She pulled her claws back looking up as Orion said something to her. If it was anyone else, she wouldn't have smiled back but the boy had a way of being infectious, not that this was a particularly good thing in Tabitha's book of course. But she did tolerate Orion more then the others of his kind because of Ashley and he didn't really seem so bad the few times she had been in his company. She just had to be careful and check to see if her watch and wallet were still there afterward. "I'll try." She answered coolly, breathing through her mouth and wishing the entire place didn't smell like fish. It made her want to pounce with all her claws out and she didn't think Ashely would like that much. "But he has a mind of his own." Seeing the dirty look shot her, Tabitha simply smirked. How did that saying go? If I had a dollar every time. Lets just say Tabby would be a rich little kitty. But smirks and baiting aside, she really did wish that Ashely would just get on with it. This little love scene was not something that Tabitha wanted to be a party of. Why Ashley had chosen to get involved was beyond her. When he had come back from the Lotus with Orion, she had honestly thought he'd get over it in a few weeks but surprise surprise it didn't happen that way. More then happy to be shooed away to the cars, Tabitha fished in the pockets of her jacket for the keys. You weren't supposed to hog the cars belonging to the Academy, but she liked this particular one and the keys seemed to find a way into her hands, insert innocent look here. She dumped their packs in the back and slid into the drivers seat, starting the car and turning the radio on to the station which Ashely would hate. That was his punishment for making her sit through his little love feast. "Glad you could make it." She quipped, raising her hand to Orion before gliding out of the parking space. Ashely seemed to be in one of his brooding moods so she only turned the volume on the radio up higher. "P-P-P Poker Face.." Reaching over Tabitha gave him a poke on the shoulder and contemplated on snatching his sunglasses off his face. "Don't be such a freaking wet blanket, Ash. We'll nail this, you'll see." Or they'd get nailed to a wall, which was a huge incentive to not screw up. The drive to the airport was quiet, she let him brood because he was probably cooking up a plan. In Tabitha's mind however, it probably wouldn't be too hard to find the son of Pontos, Ashley did say they were hunting him right? They just had to follow the line of flesh eating giants. They went through security without a hitch, even though they were armed to the teeth. Tabitha herself had two celestial bronze knives, one inside her sleeve and one in her right boot. The mist was a wonderful thing. They breezed right on through with Tabitha giving the security guy on duty a smile that made his ears turn pink. "They're precious aren't they mortals?" She joked as they boarded and then added, flashing Ashley a naughty little smile. "I dare you to...persuade the first flight stewardess we see to bump us up to first class." Insert another innocent look here. They were flying into certain death, might as well do it in style. The air seemed to hang heavy over Ashley as he slid into the car and buckled down. The boy could certainly brood like the best of them and stared straight ahead as Tabitha guided the car out of it's erstwhile parking space and then down to the long driveway out of school grounds. He didn't turn back to look at Orion, though he wanted to very much and busied himself from that line of thought by actually paying attention to what was playing on the radio. Good Gods...Lady Gaga could very well succeed in making his ears bleed. "Stop it." He told Tabitha when she reached over and poked him, obviously baiting him with her actions and the damnable song that was playing. Reaching out, he turned the volume down considerably, gave her a glare from behind his dark glasses and sat back in his seat to think. She seemed to get the idea and didn't really bother him as they drove to the airport.
"Nails could come in handy." He said to one of her few comments, though Ashley played around with that idea and then dismissed it. Likely they would have to work quickly during this quest and Ashley was counting on the fact that Pontos' son and the concentration of monsters after him would give off such a stink, such a warp in the mist that they'd be able to pinpoint his location. The plan was a little risky and there was a good chance that if they failed they'd have to look through the phone book for the Waters family but Ashley did not want to think about that. The Headmaster had said that his son was in trouble and an attack on someone with that linage would not go undetected by their monster senses. So track him down, pull him out and run like hades to...
"When we get there, we're going to have to get the address of the nearest docks or country club. Somewhere we can steal a boat to get away." They couldn't put him on a plane, what being the son of a water god and all. Besides it was just ridiculous buying tickets and booking a flight back when there were giants after you. "So that's what I'll do first when we touch down and you can take a walk and see if there's any movement by...our relatives that's out of the ordinary." He gave her a tight smile as she parked in the air port's parking lot, a little pleased to see that she had stopped baiting him for once. He had thought that Tabitha was done trying to bait him, but was proved wrong when she asked him to persuade one of the flight attendants to bump them up to first class. "No, humans are not particularly precious." He answered in a low tone before going up to one of the flight attendants. First class would be a more private setting if they wanted to discuss any more details. Five minutes later, Ashley was discovering just how much leg room you got in first class.
They talked on the flight, and he told her that they'd have to approach this as quickly and as silently as they could. She pointed out that he should chill out because this was no different then any other extraction and it only felt more important because he was the Headmaster's kid. And speaking of which Tabitha also added that wouldn't it make Gaia more pissed then she already is at the Academy for harboring the boy? It'd certainly give her more of a reason to attack wouldn't it? Ashley, who did not like her line of thinking one bit, replied that they should just do their jobs. The future laid with Oracles and if the Roman's had anything to say about it, stuffed animal fluff, though by the time they landed Ashley wished that sometimes the future would come and give him warnings too.
He didn't know how to describe it, but things felt off as they made their way out of the plan and it continued to grow as they meandered towards customs. There was a cloying scent in the air and the Mist was so thick that it threatened to blur even his own vision. He shared a knowing look with Tabitha. He had been so worried that they wouldn't be able to find Rich Waters because he'd be lost in the human sprawl that he didn't think about what he'd do if faced with the opposite.
"The whole island's probably infested." Tabitha whispered in his ear. Ashely could not agree more.

Here they came again, those six armed mud people that delighted in making Richy's life, the closest thing to living hell as they could manage out side of the Underworld. On the plus side, their constant presence and attacks had improved his combat skills considerably, on the down side it drained him so badly all he did was eat, drink, fight and sleep. Even Grans was beginning to notice how hard Richy was fighting, she stopped hassling him as much as she used to, now she just watched him with sad eyes and a stern face. Mama had gotten so weak, she rarely left her bed, it was like she had been broken by these mud people, where even her spirit was nothing but ruins. Richy tried not to let these thoughts get in the way as he stabbed, hacked and slashed at the mud people, while keeping himself firmly planted in the creek that circled the house like a moat. He knew better than to try and take the fight to them, the earth itself would try to grab him...seriously the mud and dirt around the house would try to suck him down like quick sand, and he couldn't help but feel like it was personal. The mud people were getting thicker around him again, if he wasn't careful they would over whelm him, and he'd be a goner. he dodged a mud ball flung in his direction, dropping to one knee in the creek. This was going to hurt like hell, once the fight was over, but if he didn't use his trump card now, there might not be a later. He reached out with all of his being summoning all of the water that was in the creek, and the spring that fed it, and created a roaring wall of water that he sent crashing over the mud people, leaving them as massive puddles of goo. He collapsed into the creek bed, remember how much easier it used to be to do that, hell he had summoned a tidal wave three times as big as that one, in the middle of Kansas, with a lot less effort. The monsters were wearing him down, he knew that much. It was the "why" that he didn't understand. Sure Mama had told him that his daddy was some old sea god that almost no one had heard of in centuries, but that wasn't exactly a good reason to want to kill Richy, was it? "Get up silly boy, before more come back. It will take some hours before the creek fills again." Grans, a small woman of Asian descent, and enough attitude to rival a giant's, snatched Richy up around the arm pits and hauled him upright. "One foot in front of the other, come on already, unless you want to be eaten by those foul creatures," she chided as Richy stumbled, leaning heavily on her as the rushed back to the house. "Why they would want to eat such a foolish boy as you, I'd never know, mind the carpet I don't want your muddy foot prints all over the place...oh forget it, just sit here on the porch, I'll get you some water," Richy slumped down with his back against the door frame drifting off into an almost fevered sleep. He was back on Waikiki Beach again, and that old man was there looking like all the other tourists with their medal detectors, Bermuda shorts, sandals and hula shirts. "Stay strong my boy, help will be here soon," the old man showed Richy something that almost looked like a radar display on his medal detector. There were two bright green dots in one corner of the display, with a pale blue dot in the middle. Richy assumed that he was supposed to be that blue dot and the green dots...well he could only guess, maybe it was a typhoon that would saturate the land with water and recharge Richy back to full power, or something. The dream faded as Grans dumped a bucket of sea water over Richy's head. "Wake up lazy boy, we can't have you sleeping out here like this, the earth monsters will pick you right up and gulp you down like fresh sushi. Get up and get inside already," Richy nodded wearily and stumbled inside, collapsing on the nearest sofa thinking. "Whatever it is that's coming, better get here soon, or I will be some monster's sushi...Word Count: 764 Muse: So very sleepy Tags: Ashley, Tabby, and Martin Notes: Had to get Richy in there
