Oh course Archer knew better than to go snooping around the Administration Building. The place was always filled with gods and other powerful beings, but he couldn't help himself. Something in that building was tugging at him like a siren's call, and he couldn't resist it. Sure he had tried a number of times, he would feel that inexplicable tug, and an itching sensation on his right forearm, and try to occupy himself with something else to do, but he would always find himself back there sooner or later. He just couldn't stand it any more. Every time he tried to walk away from the building he would feel physically ill, but as soon as he was close he would feel better. He just had to go inside and find out what was doing this. He had waited until sunset, when everyone was busy back at their dorms, houses, domains...whatever, and crept through the halls quiet as a mouse. When he came to a Parlor all decked out with billowing purple drapes, gold embellishments, and glowing torches outside the door, he knew he had come to the right place. He carefully opened the door and squeezed inside. The place looked down right comfortable, Roman style reclining beds and sofas, a big screen TV against one wall, a massive audio system hard wired into the domed ceiling. The only creepy thing was everything had a huge green snake motif, which he understood, but didn't really care for. In the center of the room was a golden three legged stool, and next to it a table with a deep purple cushion. Much to his surprise, as Archer approached the object, he found that upon the cushion was a Magic 8 Ball. He wasn't sure why he recognized it, or why he felt so drawn to it, he just new that this object was crucial to his past, present and future. "Go ahead...pick it up," a voice hissed in his mind. Archer's gut reaction was to run, run as far away as humanly possible, but yet he stayed, his right hand even extending to the ball, unbidden. He wanted to cry out, to stop, that no good could come of this, but his voice caught in his throat. His arm felt like it burst into flames as his fingers brushed the smooth glassy surface. In horror he looked down at his arm to find that there were in fact flames dancing across it. He saw a strange symbol burnt above the initials SPQR, with seven vertical lines beneath it. "Senatus Populusque Romanus," Archer intoned wide eyed as the room seemed to spin and changed until he was standing it what appeared to be the Sanctuary in Delphi. It wasn't the ruins that so many now saw, but the true glory that was Delphi. "Hail Pandus Pecuniosus Patronus, Son of Phoebus Apollo, Chief Augur of Nova Roma Constantinopolis, Seer and Speaker of that which is yet to come. Hail Edmund Archer, Son of Apollo," Archer's vision swam, and before he knew it he was lying down on one of the reclining beds with his father Apollo sitting next to him, dressed in a Roman toga, with a wreath of golden laurels on his head. "Father?" Archer croaked. Apollo smiled nodding. "What just happened. "I'm sorry for the theatrics kiddo, but it had to be that way, it's the only way to begin to break the curse. Now listen, we don't have a lot of time. You need to take your scrying stone to your sister Andee--" "Scrying stone?" Archer asked his head in a fog. "Yes, that Magic 8 Ball thing you're holding. You must hand it to her first, once that has been done, more of your memories will awaken and you will know what to do. You are to accompany her and when the time comes your will have to make a choice that will either break your curse and change both of your fates, or doom the spirit of Delphi forever..." The room spun faster and faster until Archer's head couldn't take any more and he passed out. He woke lying flat on his back in the thick green carpet of the Parlor clutching the 8 Ball for dear life. He staggered upright looking down at his arm, the marks were still there and he suddenly remembered what the mark was. It was called the Delphic Epsilon, it wasn't a well know symbol of Apollo, but one of his none the less. "Great, just great, one more thing to make me different from the others," Archer muttered clutching the 8 Ball to his chest stumbling out onto the Academy Grounds. "Hey man, cool 8 ball, can you spare some change?" a particularly annoying satyr, or perhaps it was a faun now, asked in a goaty voice. "Help me to the Apollo House and I'll give you a Drachma, or I suppose a couple of denarii if you prefer those, just help me get to my sister Andee at the Apollo House. And if I pass out before I can tell her...make sure she takes this 8 Ball. No one else but her. Do you understand?" "Sure man, anything for some denarii," the chipper faun answered slipping an arm around Archer's shoulders helping him stumble and stagger all the way to the Apollo House. If there was one thing Andee could say to describe about the next couple of moments that lied in front of her, the word would be hectic. Here she was, supposed to be doing a blind contour drawing for art class that was due the next day, yet her hand was urging her to draw something that her eyes weren't telling her hand to do. She blamed ADHD for that, yet she didn't know it was going to lead to something much worse than that. After glancing down at her paper, hoping to see a somewhat good sketch of her hand, she found a Magic 8 Ball that was held in her hand. She let out a disgruntled sigh, then went to erasing it the ball, hoping that the hands holding it would at least get her a B. Romulus had arose from his spot at the foot of her bed while she was erasing, letting out a growl as he heard someone entering into the Apollo dormitory. He leaped off the bed, letting out a threatening bark to the intruder. "Rom," Andee whined. "Not everybody is gonna hurt me, ya know." she said, climbing out of her comfy position in her bed to go see who had shown up. Andee didn't know what was worst -- seeing Archer being carried by a satyr or faun or something, or the fact that he was holding what her hand kept drawing. She knew that the Magic 8 Ball was not good news ever since she had drew it in sand a couple days ago, and she knew it really wasn't when Archer was holding the freaking thing. "...Oh, sh*t." she murmured, running up to her brother, and taking hold of him, giving the satyr a break for a moment. "Hey, he promised me denarii!" the satyr-faun thing complained. "Go find someone else to get some damn money," Andee grunted, trying to keep Archer from staggering over onto the ground. Archer was six foot tall with pure muscle, and she was just a scrawny little kid. The last time she checked, those two didn't work well together. "Keller, help!" she called out, though she managed to pull Archer onto a couch in the commons' before Keller could come around. She then snatched the 8 Ball from Archer's hands. "Where in Hades did you get this?! Why am I drawing this everywhere I go? Why were you carrying it? What's going on, Archer?" she asked, barely even taking a breath between the sentences. The girl was about to bombard her brother with more questions, though she thought she had blacked out. Meanwhile, the Andee that everyone could see had stopped talking. She almost a daydreamed look as it held the 8 Ball in both of Andee's hands. It was like that for a moment, just standing there, staring straight at Archer. Then, with a creepy, non-Andee-like voice, she spoke. "You shall travel west, and save a young mortal, Though only one of you will make it through the portal, It has held a grudge for a thousand years, Against a god that has no fears, You will sacrifice something you're close to, in the end, And you shall not save what matters most, though time will mend." Then Andee snapped out of it once she let the Magic 8 Ball go, and fell onto the couch next to her brother. She shook her head, mumbling an "I'm fine." to anyone in general. Andee shook her head once more, then glanced up at Archer. "Anyway, what are you doing with this?" she asked him, picking up the 8 Ball and handing it to him, quite a bit afraid that she'd black out again if she held it longer than a couple seconds. She was confused, really confused, yet she knew that Archer was probably going to explain everything in a couple seconds. These last few months had not been very kind to Keller. In fact they had been downright stressful and a little weird. He had left the Academy just as the quest was about to being, called away by an urgent phone call from his aunt. In a hugesmell my armpits moment, Keller had learned that his uncle had been stabbed by no less then his estranged mother. Apparently Arnold had gone down to Los Angeles to see Sue after he had gotten a strange phone call from her and though he was fuzzy on the details he had said that Sue had been acting very strange and paranoid. Though it was a huge relief that his uncle had survived the whole ordeal, the case was still unsolved. Police were still out there looking for Sue and Keller wasn't sure if he wanted his mother found or not. One one hand he wanted justice for his uncle but on the other, he didn't really want to how insane his mother had become. Sue had never been an active part in his life but there was some part of Keller that had hoped and now that hope was gone.
He had spent months away from the Academy as a result of this. Having left without a word to anyone, Keller wasn't sure if he wanted to tell any of his siblings or friends about what had transpired. He wanted a little bit of normalcy, some place where he didn't have to think about his mother but it seemed that the Academy, more specifically the Apollo residence had changed too. Nicky was gone doing some mission for Apollo and Keller had heard that there was a mysterious new guy. He was trying to decide if he should clean up his room, go find Sebastian so that he could bug him, or find Lee when Andee's yell reached him.
Keller, help? When phrased in such a way and in such a tone of course Keller came running. He had to skid to a stop though when he passed a sour looking satyr squatting in the middle of the rug in their front room. "Don't even think of leaving a goat pelt." Keller warned, taking off again with the satyr saying that someone owed him drachma. Keller had heard about loan sharks, but this was just ridiculous. He rounded the corner just in time to hear Andee speak a prophecy in some creepy snake voice. Not a stranger to quests, Keller quickly whipped out his pen and a scrap of paper and started to scribble. Weapons was one thing, but he had learned that having pen and paper were just as valuable to a demi god.
"Ok, mass confusion aside." He said as Andee snapped out of it and started to ask questions to a blond boy that Keller did not recognize. "There's a satyr in the other room that's threatening to leave goat pelts on the carpet if someone doesn't pay him. So does anyone have any change?" He looked from Andee to the blond boy and held up the scrap paper. "Manged to get it all down."

His world was a haze, not only did the world spin sickeningly fast, but it also seemed that someone had changed the subtitles from English to Latin, which only made his head ache and the world spin fast. He collapsed on the sofa as Andee began to speak with the voice of Delphi, a voice he recalled vividly feeling a deep sense of dread and foreboding.
"You shall travel west, and save a young mortal, Though only one of you will make it through the portal, It has held a grudge for a thousand years, Against a god that has no fears, You will sacrifice something you're close to, in the end, And you shall not save what matters most, though time will mend."
"Not again," his mind begged, "Not again," he was so lost in his fog he didn't even realize Andee was next to him, all he knew was that wonderful barbeque he had for dinner, was not happy where it was.
"I'm going to be sick," Archer bolted for the bathroom, emptying the contents of his stomach into the bowl. Of all the things to remember from his previous life, the fact that this sickness was "normal" was not reassuring. Absently he flushed the toilet and remained kneeling with his head pressed up against the side of the porcelain. A flood of memories stabbed at his brain, but it didn't hurt as much this time, nor was it quite so nauseating. He had been through this before, and he had survived, he could survive now.
Unsteadily he got to his feet, splashing cold water on his face, and gargling some mouth wash before going out to face the others.
"Sorry about that," he offered weakly as he avoided the concerned looks of the others. "Oh, is the faun still here, I owe him a couple denarii..." He reached in his pocket finding a couple of silver coins, he was sure hadn't been in there before he had gone into the parlor earlier that evening, but wasn't about to question it. "Here you are. Gratitude for your assistance," he told the faun in Latin without realizing it. The faun took the coins with a grin. "Sure thing man.spank me hard got any tin cans or anything..." Archer shook his head, remembering how needy and annoying fauns could be. "No, that will be all, please leave us, my siblings and I must have words," the faun's face fell a little but he nodded understanding and trotted out the door. It was only afterwards that he noticed the utterly perplexed looks on Andee and his brother...he believed it was Keller, if he remembered right, faces.
"Right, I suppose you want an explanation. Mind you, I still don't remember every thing, just enough to know that we've been given a quest, and that it is a serious one." He found a chair and sat stiffly trying to think of how he would explain things.
"You asked about the Magic 8 Ball Andee." He nodded to the object that lay where he had been sitting. "It's the Mist that makes it look like that. When I was younger it looked like a crystal ball, I suppose you would call it. It was one of the ways I could read the auspices, or omens for fortune telling. Before I was taken to the Lair of the Lotus Eaters, I was an Augur in Constantinople, the Capitol of the Eastern Roman Empire. I saw omens and prophesies...well let's just say they weren't very pleasing to the gods. I can't remember exactly what they were, but I do know that they were enough to have Apollo hide me away to escape their wrath." He paused taking a deep breath trying not to look at either Andee or Keller, he was an intruder into their world, and it was because of him that they would have to go on a dangerous quest.
He stood, walking over to the 8 ball, picking it up, staring at it intently, then shaking it and frowning. "We have until the Autumnal Equinox to reach the Oracle...or the Spirit of Delphi will be consumed by the earth...that's" Archer did a quick mental calculation, his frown deepened further. "exactly 7 days from now." He managed to slide the 8 Ball into his pocket, turning to face Andee and Keller.
"I think it's obvious that Andee and I have to go on this quest...the Spirit of Delphi reached out to her, and...well...I just have to go..." he was sure his face was red, but he wasn't exactly sure why, he got the nagging feeling that there were memories still locked in his mind that he should be afraid of.
"You would be welcome to join us, but then again I think Andee should lead this quest, so it's up to you two to decide. Just remember that we have to leave by sun rise tomorrow, that's will give us the maximum amount of protection from Phoebus Apollo...I mean, our father."

She didn't know why, but when Archer went to go lose his dinner, Andee had stood up, then presumed to go cling to her older brother. For some reason, it just made everything better to hold onto Keller. She had grabbed the paper out of his hands, reading over what he had written down. "...I don't even remember saying this, Keller. I'm confused." Andee would have followed to help Archer out, yet she knew that she would end up getting sick as well. She read over the words again, trying to figure out what they meant. It looked like she was going to save a mortal, she would have to sacrifice something, and she wasn't going to save what mattered most, but she would get over it. Okay, so it practically says I'm going to just lose something and fail in the end. Nice.Once Archer finally emerged, the faun finally got his coins and left them alone. She then listened to what Archer had to say, yet she was still confused. "So why did I pass out and say this? Why didn't it happen to you, or if Keller grabbed it, it happened to him? Just...why did it want me?" It was all so creepy, like that one time Andee's friend had taken a picture of herself with a professional camera, and a red dot was streamed across the face. Another one showed up in another spot in the same way, and then again. Her other friends called it paranormal activity, that a spirit wanted the friend, yet Andee called it a coincidence. It felt like that right now. The Spirit wanted her, and she couldn't figure out why. Andee's eyebrows furrowed. 7 days didn't seem like long enough. How could they get to save the Oracle in seven days? How did he even know that the Earth would swallow up the Oracle whole? How did they know that it was the Oracle they were going to save? She had a lot of questions, yet she knew better than to ask them at this moment. After all, Archer was still working on trying to figure out where he came from. The grip she held on Keller became slightly tighter as she glanced up at her brother, then at the one standing across the room. "Keller needs to come. He's one of those people that can calm me down if I start freaking." she said, a little smile forming. That was partly the reason, the other was that he would let her ride on his back if she got tired. Not to mention, Keller was the first person she turned to for advice, and at this point, was becoming her favourite brother. She then glanced back up at Keller. "So Keller, wanna help us attempt to save the Oracle of Delphi and become a legend possibly? Well, in my book at least." Andee honestly didn't think she would make it to the next morning. She knew she needed sleep, yet how she would get to sleep stumped her. She wanted to get going right then, but Archer and Keller probably didn't. "Archer, are you going to throw up again, or are you going to be alright?" she asked, her gaze moving towards his face, scanning it to see any trace of paleness. He surely did look better than a couple moments ago, which was a sign that he was going to be fine. Words: 590 Muse: Everywhere Tags: Keller, Archer Notes: N/A

Keller watched the whole scene unfold with a rather impassive look on his face. He looked almost bored until you got a look into his dark eyes and saw the shrewd light in them. He had been at camp and then the Academy for almost all of his teen years and he knew what to look out for. A mysterious sibling turning up on the heels of a failed quest? Keller should have known that a quest would be right around the corner. That didn't mean he was going to like it though, and looking back at what Andee had said, the quest wasn't going to end well at all.
"It's going to be fine kiddo." He said as Andee came to give him a hug. Keller gave her one of his gung ho grins and reached up to put a hand on her head for a second or two before removing it again. "We're Apollo's kids. We'll do this quest with style." Nobody had actually invited him but there was no question that Keller was going to see this through to the end. He watched Archer as the boy came back to the room, taking note of the way he was speaking in Latin to the faun. Latin was almost a dead language in the mortal world and this was Keller's third clue to pay attention to what was going to be said next.
Constantinople? So...his new sibling was actually a very old and well preserved sibling. Keller wanted to cut in and ask how Archer had managed to stay young but the other boy mentioned the lair of the lotus eaters and that clued Keller in somewhat. He also took note of the word augur though Keller was starting to get a bigger picture of who Archer was.
"Cause I'll go, Kiddo." Keller drawled, his gaze glued on Archer. "And I guess we should go and pack if we have seven days to do this thing." He petted Andee's head again and then gently pulled away from her. "I'll deal with the first aid supplies, nectar and ambrosia and other snacks. I'll get maps and compasses to while I'm there." Keller was the only one in this room who couldn't really read the future so he'd deal with supplies.
He paused though when Archer called their father by a slightly different name. "And do you want to go to the Roman camp and get some supplies there?" He didn't mean to come off sounding cold but he did. Just a little bit.

He knew that look, and that tone of voice, no matter how polite Keller had been in trying to hide his distrust and disdain for the Romans, Archer saw it plainly. He had dealt with it all his life. He couldn't remember all of the details obviously, but he could read the signs as easily as he could breathe. Archer was more or less a child of two worlds, two worlds that just assume destroy one another. As much as he was a child of Phoebus Apollo, he was also a child of the Eastern Empire, those who were more Greek than Roman, but still saw themselves as the true Empire. Neither the Romans, nor the Greeks saw him as truly one of their own. He blinked back the thoughts, keeping his face a mask as he pulled out the Magic 8 Ball and whispered the question, "Should I inform the Roman Camp of our quest," he shook it and looked at the answer, "The outcome in uncertain," he shook it again with the answer of, "?". Frowning he shook it a third time, with the answer reading, "Follow your instincts,"
He hated vague answers like that, especially when he wasn't exactly sure what his instincts were any more.
"Um," he itched at his tattoo absently, screwing up his face as he considered it options. "No I don't think we will need to talk to the Romans, not right now at any rate. They'd want to interrogate me, have another augur read the auguries, place me in a cohort, then once they knew of the quest they'd want to gather the Senate and debate the whole matter, and well honestly we don't have that kind of time for formalities like that,"
He didn't want to mention that he wouldn't be trusted at all since he had been staying with the Greeks since his return to civilization, they would think him a spy or some kind of threat, especially when he told them what all he could remember now. The actual details of his exile were still gone, but it wouldn't matter by that point.
"So I think it would be best if we figure out our travel arrangements," Archer added twitching a bit as his discomfort began to bleed through his mask. "It would probably be easiest if we could go by air..." he mused as it dawned on him, he already had the means they would need. "Come to think of it, I think I have that covered. Orion and I commissioned Lee to rebuild an old Apollo Cabin chariot for the club. One of the details was that it had to be made larger and fly...but I'm not sure how far along he's gotten with it. Why don't I head over to the forge and find out, maybe help make it travel worthy while you two figure out exactly where we need to go. The only advice i would give on that matter is, it has to be somewhere between here and the Lotus, since that's where dad sent Nicky to search..." he tailed off then made a sheepish exit feeling as though the whole atmosphere in the House had changed.
Not looking where he was going, he got about a dozen paces away from the House when he ran into something solid.
"Hey man, take it easy," It was Lee. "Where are you off to in such a hurry?"
Archer looked up feeling somewhat relieved. "I was actually on my way to the forge to see you. It seems we'll be needing that chariot for something else before we can install it in the club..."
"Ok. Well, I'm actually on my way to see Kel right now, can it wait until some time tomorrow?" Lee asked wanting to get past Archer and head into the Apollo House.
"I'm afraid we can't wait that long, we need to leave at dawn,"
"Who is we? And why are we in such a hurry?"
"Andee, Keller and I have more or less been given a quest from Apollo himself, I'm sorry I can't into too many details, as the whole situation is rather delicate...but we are going to need that flying chariot, and the flying automaton horses we had discussed..."
Lee frowned at Archer, looking at the House with obvious longing, but nodded and sighed. "Alright, I supposed I had better make sure things are ready to roll, I'd hate for something to happen to you guys because things weren't 100% ready for you. Come on I could use a hand,"
Together they went over to Lee's workshop in the forge, pulling an all nighter as they prepared the chariot for the trip. Archer was rather pleased to be busy rather than sleeping before the quest, sleep usually brought on dreams, and he had a nasty feeling in his gut that any dreams right now would also bring back memories...ones that probably be better off not remembered, at least for the time being. They worked right up until about half and hour before dawn when they decided the chariot was just about as ready as it could be, and Archer ran back to the cabin.
"The chariot's ready," he called breathlessly. "Lee's pulling it around, he should be here in a couple of minutes, just give me a sec to grab my stuff and we'll be ready to fly," he ran into the restroom, dunked his head in a sink full of cold water and toweled off. He dashed back into the room he had been using, grabbed his backpack and stuffed a few fresh clothes and essentials in it, along with the bow and quiver Lee had lent him for the capture the flag game. Feeling as ready as he would ever be he headed to the living room.
"Ok guys, I do believe our chariot awaits," Archer stepped outside and admired the chariot in the predawn light. He had asked to make it larger, as he had plans for it in his act at the club, and even had added passenger seats with safety belts, which would be removed once it was installed in the club. The bronze pegasi snorted red flame as they pawed the ground impatiently, ready to be off.
"Trust me, it'll be even more impressive once we get it finished for the club," Archer smiled patting Lee on the back. "So yeah, who wants to drive?"
Word Count: 1106 Muse: Surprisingly awake Tags: Andee, Keller Notes: Ok so the chariot is all made of bronze, with gadgets to make it fly, it's longer than a typical chariot so there is actually room for once person to sit on either fender while the driver stands, and a sort of tail gate to keep people from falling out as it climbs. Aside from that it's pretty much stripped down and basic looking. I can't think of any other details that might be important, let me know if you have questions.

Andee practically disregarded Keller's slight coldness towards Archer. Archer was a human, even though he was from the Romans, he was still human. Which is why she was never hateful towards people due to their parents. It was mostly the personality that made her judge. She watched Archer shake his 8 Ball a couple times, yet he seemed to not exactly be pleased with what the ball was telling him. She felt like the ball was nothing but pure evil. After all, it DID haunt her. When talking about how they would travel, Andee would've mentioned about her necklace, but then she remembered that it wouldn't work all too well in the long run. It was really only to be used in emergency's, and that was it. She had already forgotten about the whole necklace idea since Archer already seemed to have gotten that settled. Once he left somewhat awkwardly, Andee took Keller's wrist in her hand. "Come on, I have a map somewhere in my room. Once they had gotten into Andee's room, Andee instructed for Keller to sit on her bed as she went to trying to find the map she had purchased a while back. Once she had finally found it, she sat down next to her brother, spreading out the map, and grabbing a purple pen. "Alright," she started, brushing her hair back. "We are here." she said, making a dot that was somewhat close to the school. "And Las Vegas is waaaaaay over here." she said, putting another dot towards the bottom of Nevada, where Vegas was located. "Now, there's an extensive amount of routes we could take, and I hope Archer could probably give us more of an idea of what the future will be like for us as we get further along in the quest." Once the route had been planned out, Andee let Keller go collect things they all needed, as well as get what he himself would need, while she packed up some clothes and some weapons for herself. She took a shower at around 1 in the morning, keeping an eye out for Archer, yet he had still not shown. She really didn't want to go and look for him, so she just assumed he was fine. Andee had then gone to the common room, playing the piano quietly, so she wouldn't wake anyone. At about three AM, Andee had crashed, her head laying on some of the piano keys. She only felt like she had been asleep for two seconds, since the next moment she was hearing Archer's voice, saying that the chariot was ready. The sun had barely even risen, buy she knew that they had to head out as early as possible. She sat up, shaking her head, then rubbing her eyes as she arose, heading back to her room to grab her necklace, her knapsack, and stick the map in a safe part of the knapsack. Andee then made her way back out into the commons, where she had met up with Keller and Archer. She was still a bit sleepy, but her body was filled with adrenaline, ready to take on whatever lied ahead of the three. As they made their way outside, Andee's eyes grew wide as she saw the chariot. She did not like Lee with a passion, yet him setting this up in a night, was quite impressive. And though she hated to admit it to herself, she made a note mentally to thank Leeland later. If she managed to survive this quest. "Well, I'm surely not driving. I'd end up killing us all." she said, her face serious. She probably really wouldn't, but she thinks and believes that she would screw something up, thus ending the lives of herself and her brothers. And if they were like her, they surely didn't want their lives to end anytime soon. Words: 662 Muse: Every. Where. Notes: They're doing a diagonal line from New York to Las Vegas. Though they'll probably only get as far as Kansas City since that's where the Oracle is trapped. Just trying to keep Will in the loop, twist my nipples.
