Personality: Like most of Joelle’s half siblings, her role as a daughter of Hades has always over shadowed most of her other feelings. The simple thoughts of deception, and evil plots have always floated in and out of her mind. Taking along with them small pieces of her thoughts. Though she may be a lot like her siblings, she knows that she has her own qualities. Unknown to most, she is always a contradiction. She thinks of most of the demigods as clones, each one born from one god, dressing in the same fashion, and doing very similar things. She knows she shouldn’t judge them for it, being as the personalities and physical features of most of the Gods are very strong in their children.
Joe thinks of her self as one of the most wise in her cabin, equipped with streets and book smarts that make her a very deadly demigod. Though she does sometimes appear to be a ‘saint’ through some peoples’ eyes, her thoughts and emotions as a daughter of Hades have always interfered. Cold and unpredictable, is what most of the campers have remembered about her. This side of her is never to be tampered with; it is the type of place where hope goes to parish and where people go to beg for mercy.
Being one of the oldest of her siblings, she has found herself not being accepted by most other cabins. She knows that most of them keep to themselves, and despise the Hades children for being just that: Children of Hades. Joelle finds these things very mundane that lack vision and inspiration, so to relieve most of her stress, she finds herself walking along the woods with her hellhound. Or doing whatever it takes to vanquish the stress that’s in her.
Like her father, she is very passionate about most of the things she does. Caring deeply about her possessions, friends, and family of half-siblings. Knowing that she inherits most of her father’s qualities, she still remembers most of her good qualities from her mother Clarice.
Joelle is full of opposing thoughts, emotions, and qualities. But her loyalty, Courage, and thoughtfulness has shown the brightest when she feels it should. To others she is an ‘alien’ but as a friend, people will understand most of her emotions and realize that under all her hard shell, lies a perfectly good child of Hades. She will always be there to keep you safe. For if you make a friend of Joe, she will stick up for you till the very end.
History: (((I copied and pasted but added more at the bottom where it starts with “But as she grew older”))) When Joelle was little, she always found herself in the oddest of situations. From accidentally cutting off all the hair of one of her classmates, to almost setting the house aflame. She never thought of herself as an evil child, not at all. But to her parents, and to everyone else, she was nothing but a delinquent who did nothing but cause trouble for everyone. For all of this, Joe found she hating her mother, her stepfather, and pretty much everyone.
The day she learned her first words, Joe was clamed as a child of Hades. The astonishing symbol flashing above her head wasn’t only enough to give her mother a chill up the spine, but the word Joelle had uttered, shocked Clarice into a faint. The word was nothing less than the name of something… but this something wasn’t just a simple “oh its just a- blank.” This certain something just so happened to be sitting at Joelles’ feet, Licking her toes and making Joe giggle.
FLASHBACK!!!
“Puppy!” Joelle squeaked happily before wrapping her little arms around the hell hounds head. Her stepfather Paul watched in horror as he quickly fanned his wife back into consciousness. The hell hound didn't look as normal as a regular dog, it eyes were black and it was snarling at Joe's parents. Once Clarice awoke, Joelle noticed a black fog slowly erupt from the fireplace, filling the living room with its eerie tint and completely covering Joelle from sight. “Oh Joelle, my sweet little… Angel.. It’s been so long since you were born. I’ve missed you so much...” Said a deep, mysterious voice that spoke from deep within the fog.
Joe giggled with joy at the sound of this voice, for a reason she had no idea why.. For she was almost 18 months old and she barely knew enough to understand what was going on. All she knew was that she was happy to have a new puppy… that had three heads. She felt hands suddenly griping around her tiny waist, lifting her into the air as she got a closer, clearer view of the man.
"Hades, get out of here at ONCE! You are not welcomed here any longer!" Joelle heard her mother say from somewhere in the open kitchen that was across from where they were standing. "Hades? Who’s Hades? And why is he here? And where’s Joel-" Paul started before getting cut off suddenly. "Hades… Is the real father of Joelle, Paul. We met a long time ago. I never meant to hurt you so I kept all the information from you." Clarice spoke hesitantly in defeat.
Joelle watched as the dark fog started to disappear, revealing her father who was smiling down at her. His face was just as she pictured him to be. Well.. she never put much thought into what her real father looked like, in fact, until this very moment she always thought of Paul as the run-down dead beat dad she had grown up with. The man with bright blond hair, a wide smile that made her cry, and a soft spot for anyone who gave him a sandwich and a beer. Who looked nothing like Joelle and made sure that No one knew about Joelle's existence. It seemed that even at 18 months, Joe was a troublemaker.
Hades walked them over to one of the living room couches and sat down, bouncing Joe on his knee as she giggled and listened. She watched her mother and stepfather go and sit across from them. Giving each other looks that Joelle didn't know the meaning of. "I want you to tell me everything Clarice! There is NO NEED FOR SECRECIE IN THIS HOUSEHOLD. I PAY THE BILLS AND-" Paul spoke quickly in anger, his voice starting to rise until he was cut off by Hades' deep death-defying voice. "Sit. Down." He said. His voice dark and deep, glaring at Paul. A long pause lifted out of Paul's mouth. As if his soul had just floated out, looked at him and then crept back in. "You Will listen, and you Will be patient." Hades spoke, putting emphasis on ‘will’, still bouncing Joelle on his knee as he flashed her a grin that sent her into a round of giggles.
Paul sat down as soon as he finished breathing, nodding in agreement that he would listen and be patient. Joelle watched as her mother shook her head in silence, looking from Hades to Paul and back to Joe several times before finally starting her confession.
“About a year before Joelle was born, I was working as one of the head scientists in northern Italy, I had been having a tough time working with the new employees and with the new chemical substances we were working on. The goal was to invent a Cure, a Cure for those who were no longer living. To bring them back to life. But the cure kept on going wrong, and our test subjects never came back alive after we injected the formula.
It was hard for me to stand being in the same testing lab for so long and being disappointed every time one of the dead rats didn’t respond to the cure. It was making me itchy and depressed at the same time. One of the nights my employers and I were working late, we had gotten a short response from one of the mice. It was breathing for about 10 seconds… TEN!” Clarice’s eyes went wide for a second as she clenched and unclenched her hands then continued on.
“We saw this as a victory, I went outside for some clean unfiltered air, where I saw the figure of a man in the distance. He was wearing a dark black cloak with a hood over his head, walking slowly toward me. I had no idea why, but to me I was in no danger. The man introduced himself as Hades, I thought it was quite the odd name for someone, but I just figured his parents were probably into Greek Gods or something… Anyway, after that night we started to meet at the same place for a few weeks, going out to dinner and doing normal things most couples do.” She said, clearing her throat before continuing again.
“The night I found out I was pregnant, Hades revealed to me who he really was. It amazed me, but didn’t make me think anything different of him. He was the one I truly loved and no matter if he were the Lord of the Underworld or a regular guy, I would have always loved him.
He told me that he would have to leave as soon as Joelle was born, and did just as he said he would once she was.” Clarice ended her confession with a solemn sigh, looking up to Hades as if wishing he hadn’t left. “Well that was… interesting.. I should have known that Joelle’s true father was someone of… Unfathomable means. What are you doing here though Hades? If you are forbidden to see Joelle.” Paul said hesitantly, looking from Clarice to Hades regrettably.
Hades smiled at Clarice sincerely before kissing Joelle on the forehead and responding to Paul’s question. “I am here to tell you that you need to send Joelle to Camp Half Blood as soon as she turns the age of Five. She isn’t to be cared for by someone in the likes of You, Mr. Paul O’Ryan. I will not sit by and watch my daughter be cared for by parents who have no thoughts of how to manage and take good care of her… I will leave her in your hands for now, but under the watchful eye of her new hellhound. She will grow up to be a fine Hell Hound, I am giving Joelle it because I do not trust either of you and plus, i thought I should give one to one of my oldest.” He said, looking down at the small hell houd puppy that was now wagging its tail.
Paul nodded to everything Hades said, agreeing that they would send Joelle to Camp Half Blood along with her new… pet. Joelle watched as Hades got up from the seat he was in, giving her another kiss on the forehead before smiling and waving goodbye to her. She had no idea about anything they were talking about, and just cooed at him before he slowly disappeared. Blowing Clarice a goodbye kiss as he faded.
Clarice and Paul agreed to do as they were told, raising Joelle as their own till she turned 5years old. They told her about everything and about how it all happened, she was only Five years old but somehow she knew what this all meant for her. Though she knew this was supposed to be a time of sadness, Joelle was quite happy about her separation from her mother and stepfather. Knowing that for as long as she would like, she could stay at Camp Half Blood.
But as she grew older she began to become weary about CHB, it had grown old and she had done everything as a Cabin Leader to sustain her boredom. She watched as her siblings started to go their separate ways, her very favorite- Noah, leaving aswell to some Academy with a few of the other campers. Joe was now 19, on her own like always and with nothing else to do but torment and harass the Gods. She picked up one of Chiron’s pamphlets and looked uncomfortably through it, groaning at all the happy faced children that were plastered across the beach. “They look…hap--- like zombies. Yup. Zombies.” She said, shaking her head and throwing the pamphlet over her shoulder.
Behind her trotted her all-black-stallion-Pegasus ‘Blue’ and her hell hound Autumn, Blue stopped to pick up the pamphlet with his lips. He then trotted around Joelle so that he was now facing her and promptly shoving the pamphlet in her face. “Gffaahhh!” Joe ran smack dab into him before backing up and grabbing it from his lips, sending him a sideways pouted glare. “But I don’t wanna go to school!..” she whined as if she was 7 again. Blue let out an awkward sound which probably could be translated as ‘NOW!’ in pegasi. Making Joe let out a defeated groan.. “Fine you st-….” She said, grumbling toward the end as she hopped onto Blue’s back, snapping her fingers as a dark whisping shadow opened from out of no where, the three of them trotting straight into it on their way to HalfBlood-Academy.
