DJ stirred slowly in the hammock he had managed to hang above the bunk that was supposed to be his bed, instead preferring the more nautical style hammock for sleeping, and the bed...for other recreational activities. He managed to roll himself out of the hammock and onto his feet, yawning and stretching as he cast a sleepy eye around his area looking for his swim suit. He pulled it on, thankful yet again that none of his sisters had caught him sleeping in the buff, that would have been...awkward, to say the least.
Quietly he stole his way out of the cabin headed for the Long Island Sound. Say what you will about the water ways along the American East coast, DJ loved their salty waters almost as much as a lover, feeling a stirring in his loins, he looked down shaking his head. "Knock it off already," he muttered trying to stifle a yawn, unsuccessfully.
Once he was within a couple hundred yards of the Sound, he stopped, stretched a little, than sprinted for the waters, launching himself into the surf like a dolphin. Normally, the children of Poseidon don't get wet under water, unless of course they want to, and DJ really wanted to. He loved the cool caress of the waves, and the subtle tugs of the tides as he plunged all the way to the bottom, allowing the waters to consume him as he swam. It was always invigorating, these early morning swims, allowing the waters to wash over him, seemed to recharge his batteries and get him ready for a new day.
After about half an hour of swimming and enjoying the surf, DJ surface dripping wet, and a certain muscle betraying his ecstatic thoughts again. "You had better hope none of the little ones are running around buster, you might put their eye out," he muttered to himself wandering over the the showers. He would have loved to just stay as he was, but the foul reek of pollution was beginning to make him nauseous, so he took a quick scrub and rinse in the shower. He emerged from the showers with just a towel wrapped loosely around his waist wringing out his swim suit, humming to himself as he strolled back to the cabin.
Finding his way back to his bunk, he pulled on a pair of boxers and a clean pair of board shorts feeling refreshed and comfortable. He hung his towel and swim suit on a line near his hammock, hopping back into it swaying back and forth lazily quite content.
After about an hour of relaxing like this, he was starting to get restless, the morning was getting older and his siblings were snoring away like a bunch of seals sunning themselves. He rolled back out of his hammock over to his night stand where he kept a small bronze ship's bell, with a sly grin he rang it loudly eight times before calling out, "Ahoy there! 'Tis eight bells in the morning watch, up and at 'em you lazy bunch of layabouts," grinning like a kid in the candy store he picked up a boatswain's whistle and started tweeting away, just like his grandfather loves to do when they're together. He couldn't contain his grins or giggles as his siblings began moaning and complaining about the noise.
Noticing his own puppy, rather sister who followed him around like a puppy, Ariel, was still sawing logs. He crept over to her bed calling out softly, "Ariel, oh Ariel, wakey wakey eggs and bacey,"
He carefully began to tickle her nose with the tip of his finger, blowing a light stream of air across her ear, stifling a giggle as she squirmed about muttering incoherent things at him. With mischief in his eyes he started pulling back the blankets, exposing her slender shoulders, tickling them lightly as he whispered, "Ariel, oh Ariel," only to get a back hand across the face as she flipped about in her bed. DJ rubbed his nose making a mental note, not to be in the same bed as his little sister...ever again. He tried a different tactic whispering in her ear, "Ariel a satyr is eating all of your pretty clothes and sea shells, better wake up or they'll all be gone..."
