Lets Get More Personal
Likes: - Candy and sweets - Writing songs - Singing - Training - Cooking/Baking - Drinking tea/coffee - Being alone - Forging Weapons
Dislikes: - Being alone (at times) - Discrimination - Losing - People - Mathematics - Greed and large egos - Those who pick on the weak - Dishonesty - Children (she can be awkward around them)
Personality: Dawn is a sharp-tongued girl. Not much can break her spirit and pride either. She can be ruthless and aggressive at times, never letting her guard down. So not much can break her focus, especially in a fight. To most people she is cold, sarcastic, and cynical, so it’s safe to say a number of people may not like her. Her mother has always been very strict with her, sugar-coating it that she does it out of love or she does things for Dawn’s own good. But she can’t help but be bitter with her life though, and pushes everyone away, even the few friends she has.
Dawn tends to stay cooped up in one spot [forge] but she occasionally ventures out to enjoy the scenery or watch the campers mingle and interact with each other. Dawn also has a certain talent for culinary skills, particularly baking sweets. She has no particular hatred for any of the other campers and does not discriminate because of their parents, but Dawn will definitely retaliate if there is someone who is picking a fight.
She has incredible business skills, branching off from her mother's work and establishing a name for herself. Even without her mother's money, she's quite wealthy herself. She isn't afraid to pay whatever she has to, to get what she wants, knowing greed will drive people to drastic measures.
Dawn can be a big softie if you manage to hit the right spot. She does have her sweet side but that rarely ever shows, unless you constantly spend time with her. She is in fact a lonely girl, who merely wishes to be accepted/acknowledged. If you are able to challenge her and if you are persistent enough to even try, bypassing her words of pessimism, you can be certain that you’ll have a courageous ally that isn’t fearful of anything. Because when she is determined, she will never back down from anything, choosing to die for what she believes in, including those she can call friends.
History: Dawn was born from a mother who belonged to the upper class, in Berlin, Germany.
Her story begins with Eudora Vandethiel, an only child who started off as a spoiled girl, her parents having given her everything and anything she wanted, providing to her every need. As she grew up, her personality stayed the same. She was very beautiful but was very vain as well, believing wealth, to be the most important in life. She always dressed in the latest fashions and kept herself beautiful in every way.
She never had to work, since her parents had so much money, working for the German government. Even so, she demanded utmost respect for if one made an enemy of her, most would live to regret it. She was always able to catch the eyes of any man including the God of the Forge, Hephaestus, whom she had met at a German market. Hephaestus grew to admire the headstrong woman, despite her stubborn and vain nature. It reminded him of the Goddess of Love, Aphrodite.
In turn Eudora grew smitten with the Fire God’s well-built appearance and gruff personality. The two began courting for nearly a year, when Eudora (37) discovered she was pregnant. When her parents found out, they were thrilled to finally have a grandchild along the way. Hephaestus was aware of what was to become of the unborn child, and explained who he was, and what Eudora would need to do in the future. Needless to say, she refused to believe any of it at first, but with a proper...demonstration, she had no choice but to believe the god’s words as the truth.
The Fire God left to return to Mt. Olympus, right after their daughter, Dawn Vandethiel was born and claimed by him, leaving Eudora to care for their daughter herself. She had difficulty taking care of Dawn herself, and so instead, hired a number of nannies to care for the child. Eudora spent little time with Dawn as she continued to grow up and when she did have a chance to, it was only for several hours. Dawn was cared for and taught many things by her mother’s butlers and maids, and so shared no strong bond with her mother.
She was an awkward girl and soon began to notice that she had a hard time focusing in school and reading regular words. Dawn also tended to focus more on crafting things rather than on her academics, though she was still a very intelligent girl, even earning her own living quarters and staff to serve her. She was picked on a lot, and that prompted her defend herself. Several times, she had been attacked by strange creatures and more than once was saved by a young man with a limp and a funny voice (she never had a chance to talk to him though). She had thought she was hallucinating but a large wound on her back proved otherwise. Her mother put her on medications in some feeble attempt to hide the truth. Eventually, when Dawn reached the age of 14, she couldn’t take it anymore and demanded that her mother tell her everything. She had to grow up fast for her mother was never around to help nurture her. Dawn had grown bitter and suspicious of her mother for she knew she was hiding things from her. Eudora gave in and decided to tell her daughter everything, also mentioning the very day she was born that she was claimed by the God, Hephaestus.
After she had explained that she would need to head over to Half –Blood Academy, a monster appeared and attacked. Dawn then knew immediately that everything her mother had told her was true. She managed to fend off the monster but was unable to defeat it. The young man that had saved her several times suddenly came crashing in to the rescue. Except he had goat legs and horns on his head. The guy explained that his name was Flint and handed Dawn twin daggers, telling her that they were gifts from her father. Together, they defeated the creature.
Flint urged her to leave for HBA at that moment, which Dawn was more than happy to oblige. She said her farewells to her mother, though the latter seemed to have a look of regret right before her daughter closed the door on her. Flint told her everything about HBA and how he was a satyr; not a goat. She grew fascinated with his tales and regarded Flint as a good friend, something she rarely ever had. She arrived at HBA and was introduced to many of the other campers, though she showed no enthusiasm. However, meeting her cabin members, she softened up around them and was able to befriend them, finally feeling like she had some sort of family, though she is still the cold, and brooding type around the rest of the campers.
Now at 18, Dawn had grown into a strong, both physically and mentally, person. She knows how to fight and craft amazing weapons. She is a year-rounder and is often seen in the forges with her other cabin siblings, though she will occasionally return back to Germany to earn her living and do business with International and German associates and officers.
Abilities: - Although she may be a pretty girl, Dawn isn't afraid to spring into action, armed to the teeth. She doesn't ever fight bare-handed even though she is perfectly capable of defending herself, she feels it's better to feel safe than sorry. So she knows how to fight with just about any weapon, especially the ones she forges.
- Like other Hephaestus children, forging weapons are her strong points. She can tinker, forge, meld, etc. just about anything. Creating [enchanted] weapons is her specialty.
- She makes up for her lack of strength with her speed and endurance. Although not as adept as the Athena demigods, she has a strategical mind and knows how to use it to her advantage. Like her siblings she can utilize [white] fire and manipulate it to her whim.
Weaknesses: - It is incredibly difficult to see a humble Dawn. She would never back down from a fight no matter how foolish the reason. She makes enemies often because of that.
- She is incredibly vengeful, even if she does show it in a calm and composed manner. Whether it was a trivial matter or not, she’ll do whatever she has to, to remove the offender as quickly and as quietly as possible.
Other Information: Aurum and Argentum are her twin daggers she uses to fight. A gift from Hephaestus.
